ANGUISH (Jokers’ Wrath MC #3) by BELLA JEWEL

81-bTzP97uL._SL1500_Wow! Let me start by saying I have read all books from this author, and was excited when I was asked to review this book as I adore all her books. When I finish her books, I am always more than satisfied with where her stories have taken me and their endings.

This is the third book in the series. Even though I loved the first two books, this is without a doubt, my favourite one. Anguish is the type of novel that you can re-read and you’ll never get tired of reading it. This novel had me laughing out loud with some of the situations the characters find themselves in, and I have to say that I loved all characters in this book; not just the main ones.

The prologue starts us off with Jaylah in a complicated situation that she can’t get out of, and all because of her ex. Jaylah! Oh my, what a strong, sassy woman and very loving, too. She applies for a job she thinks will get her out of her the state of affairs she’s in, only to find herself worse off than ever. She knows nothing about her looking after a baby, can hardly get her act together, so how can she possibly make this work? And to top the lot, her self-confidence isn’t high up on the scale when she meets her new boss either.

Mack. A brown-eyed, moody bad boy biker who is struggling with life, has the shock of his life when a woman turns up at his door and hands him her sister’s baby and informs him that he is the father. She ups and leaves him with the baby he wants nothing to do with, so he hands over the baby to Jaylah.

Throughout this novel you see family stick together throughout. However, there is more than the baby; event after event occurs. The sexual tension which builds up between boss and his employee, is nothing less than outstanding. You will smile, laugh out loud, and if you are like me, you will say, “Go girl, go!” Jaylah’s inner-strength won’t back down to this bad-humoured and pushy man who you can’t help but fall in love with. You’ll also wish you could take away his pain. Can they overcome everything that life is throwing at them, or is it time for Jaylah to work somewhere else with her heart in pieces?

I can’t wait for the next book in this series and to meet all new and old characters again. I rate this book five stars and look forward to reading more from this author.

“You stole my fuckin’ drugs.”

The foot at my throat presses me further into the cold, scratchy pavement. I gasp, my fingers clawing at fleshy ankles. His skin doesn’t budge; my nails are too short to break the flesh that I’m so desperately scraping at. It does nothing to move him, or send him on his way. Instead, he pushes harder, cutting off more of my air supply.

“That’s not exactly how it went down,” I croak, struggling.

“You were meant to deliver them; instead you fuckin’ sold them, and ran with the money.”

He’s right about that. I did take the drugs and sell them. I had good reason—my boyfriend was in trouble, and I was doing anything I could to get him out of trouble. I didn’t think ahead. I didn’t realize that I’d then owe a very unhappy drug dealer money. Not my finest moment, that’s for damned sure.

“I had no choice . . . I was helping someone I care about.”

He presses his boot down further into my throat, and my air supply narrows down to a dangerous level. My head pounds as the blood and oxygen are cut from my brain.

“I bet that person ain’t here helpin’ you tonight, now, are they?”

No, he’s right about that. Samuel is probably sleeping with someone else. The moment his debt was cleared, he left me. The dirty, cheap fucker left me. Now I’m dealing with the backlash. A furious drug dealer who wants his money.

Money I don’t have.

“Don’t I get,” I gasp, “one chance to get your money?”

He glares down at me through angry grey eyes. I squirm again as my vision starts flittering in and out. Shit, I’m going to pass out and he’s probably going to kill me, or worse, drag my helpless body away to do God knows what with.

“I have m-m-m-money,” I croak.

“If you had money, you wouldn’t have stolen my drugs.”

“I . . .” God, I’m on the edge. “I can get it. I s-s-s-swear.”

He stares at me, and for each second he does, my vision swims. Then, much to my relief, he lifts his boot off and reaches down, hurling my weak body up. He pulls me close, so close that our noses touch. My knees wobble and I have to push all my focus into not falling flat on my face and giving him another chance to take me.

“Listen, and listen fuckin’ good. You’ve got two weeks, and trust me, that’s me bein’ fuckin’ generous. Get my money, or I come for you.”

I nod.

“Don’t try and run. You do, I’ll fuckin’ find you.”

I close my eyes, take a deep, burning breath and nod again.

“Two weeks.”

Then he’s gone.

And I know . . . I just know . . . I’m in deep, deep shit.

MADE: A Sempre Novel by J.M. Darhower

Corrado Moretti.
The world knows the notorious Kevlar Killer, but few have ever seen what lies beneath his armor. The abused child. The neglected teenager. The broken man. He always did whatever he had to do in order to survive.

It’s kill or be killed.

Throughout his life, he has been there in the shadows, a witness to everything from beginning to end. Bound by loyalty and honor, there’s only one thing he would sacrifice it all for: family.

Never get close. Never get attached. It’s a lesson that has been brutally pounded into him since childhood, but they’re words the DeMarcos make it difficult for him to follow. Through them he finds love and grieves loss, realizing the world isn’t quite as black and white as it’s made out to be.

Reviewed by Sharon Thérèse Nuttall on behalf of Kindle Friends Forever.

MADE COVERoMADE! This word takes on a new meaning in this angst-ridden story overflowing with hate and revenge. And above all, total obedience to the boss, Antonio DeMarco who runs La Cosa Nostra in Chicago, is never questioned. However, this is not his story; it is Corrado Moretti’s. Saying that, every minute detail regarding the author’s extremely well-developed characters has a justification in a strong storyline interwoven with fear. I felt this fear from the first chapter of a read which is so well structured and fast flowing, only to leave me utterly spent right up until the last word.

Corrado never had a chance to have a normal childhood. Circumstances mould his personality, make him grow up quickly. His father, Vito, is far too busy making a name for himself in the hierarchy of the Mafia. His mother, Erika, not only abuses him, she deliberately takes away the only anchor he had. Katrina, his twin sister, feeding on her mother’s hate, does everything in her power to make her brother’s life more intolerable.

“The more she hates you, the more she likes me!”

Corrado learns quickly. To be seen but not heard, to obey and to honour his father, and more importantly, never to question becomes his motto. When problems arise in the ‘business’, these two young siblings are sent away for the summer. Reprieve from the chaos at home show Corrado how the other half live. He meets Celia and Vincent. Two normal kids who are loved unconditionally.

“I like you, Corrado.” Those words surprised him. “I thought I was weird.” “You are,” she said. “But I still like you.”

Vito has ideas for his son. It’s irrelevant whether he is still of school age, he wants him by his side; show him the ropes in Las Vegas—slowly. Corrado is eager to demonstrate to Vito that he is a Moretti. Being sucked up into the world of violence and blackmail makes him grow older and wiser beyond his years. More than aware that once he’s in, means there’s no turning back. He does what is expected of him and does it well. Furthermore, he has no inkling that someone had been keeping an eye on his progress. That person will have a huge influence on his life.

“We all got someone we answer to.” “Who does he answer to?” “I don’t know, kid. God, maybe?”

Against all odds, the father of the woman he has loved since his capability of comprehension, gives him his blessing. His unconditional love for Celia is so strong, so utterly innocent in his world of corruption, helps him to keep sane. I fell in love with her with her generosity. She tries hard not to pressurize him, has the patience of a saint; gives him a reason to live.

“I didn’t want her to soften you. I didn’t want her to tame that beast. Because that beast? I need him a hell of a lot more than she needs the rest of you.”

I am a huge fan of the God Father by Mario Puzo. Even though MADE is about the Mafia, this book is on completely different lines. At not one instance did I doubt the comparable quality. The word epic is an understatement and certainly worthy of a movie. Such explicitly descriptive scenes come alive, and to say that they distressed me is putting it mildly. This book’s characters overwhelmed, drew me into their lives, and the man I should have hated, I adored, suffered and literally sobbed my heart out for. Calculatingly cold and seemly distant from everything that revolves around him, made me ask myself over and over again whether this man would able to he conquer his nemesis. My heart went out for his wife, her brother, for all his loved ones.

I am writing this review with tears streaming down my face. Corrado’s story didn’t weevil its way under my skin. It touched my medulla. Ms. Darhower, you are a storyteller par excellence. Bravo!

A WEEK IN NEW YORK (The Empire State Trilogy #1) by LOUISE BAY

NY 5n

Anna Kirby is sick of dating. She’s tired of heartbreak. Despite being smart, sexy, and funny, she’s a magnet for men who don’t deserve her.

A week’s vacation in New York is the ultimate distraction from her most recent break-up, as well as a great place to meet a stranger and have some summer fun. But to protect her still-bruised heart, fun comes with rules. There will be no sharing stories, no swapping numbers, and no real names. Just one night of uncomplicated fun.

Super-successful serial seducer Ethan Scott has some rules of his own. He doesn’t date, he doesn’t stay the night, and he doesn’t make any promises.

It should be a match made in heaven. But rules are made to be broken.

A Week in New York is the first in a series of three novellas.

Reviewed By Donna Elsegood on behalf of Kindle Friends Forever.

A Week in New York_finalThis book is the first part of a set of three novellas by Louise. The author is relatively new and has given us Faithful and Hopeful; standalone stories that consist of characters with cameo roles and need their story told.

This is about Anna Kirkby. She is Leah Thompson’s best friend who we saw in Faithful. Anna is nursing yet another broken heart. Leah has invited her to spend the week in New York as she wants to be kept company while Daniel is working. Anna jumps at the chance. Getting away from London, her flat and complications of the male variety, which I might add, she is not short of, could be the solution! Anna is beautiful, sassy and seems to attract the wrong type of men.

Anna feels this is a great way to get over her recent break up. It’s the ultimate distraction and she plans on having the time of her life. Even if it’s only for a week in the Big Apple, a summer of fun may include a stranger; however, Anna has rules. Protecting her heart and bruised ego is utmost. There is to be no information exchanged, no usage of real names and no stories about their lives are to be divulged. By fun she means no strings attached. Sex; just lots of it!

A mysterious stranger Ethan Scott enters into the scenario. He doesn’t date, doesn’t stay the night and makes no promises. He is hot and successful and just happens to spot Anna in a bar with Leah. He makes himself known where Anna instantly tells him what she wants and that there are rules. That seems to make a compatible arrangement but don’t forget the saying; “rules are made to be broken,” right?

I do not want to give away the story but rest assured, Louise has done it again and created a fantastic read. Totally full of hotness and something you know in your heart maybe developing; nevertheless, Anna will be going back to the UK which is 3000 miles away. What more could possibly happen? I’m impatiently waiting. There is a song used during the story which I will not divulge, or what the scene is during the track, but I will say this, it’s one of my all-time favourites! As soon as I read it, I put the track on and went back to read that part again.

This deserves every one of the stars rewarded and more. Louise certainly can tell a story. Not only bringing us hot men, but also strong female characters that have the like ability factor. Congratulations Louise on your latest offering. You certainly have a real talent and I hope you continue to tell us great stories. Bravo; the bar has been raised if that was at all possible!

About the Author

I write sexy, romantic, contemporary novels – the kind I like to read!

Ruined by romantic mini-series of the seventies and eighties, I love all things romantic. There’s not enough of it in real life so I’ll settle for books and films.

I love the rain, the West Wing, London, days when you don’t have to wear make-up, being alone, being with friends, elephants and champagne.

Abel Gunner is a rock-star with legendary skills both in and out of the bedroom. He swore he wouldn’t fall for another woman after being schemed and manipulated by an ex-lover. He kept that vow until he met Gia Mastro. The Dom inside of him awoke the moment he set eyes upon the submissive beauty. His dark soul hungered for her submission and affection. The deep connection they share leaves him desperate for something he never expected – her love. Her pain brings him the pleasure he craves. Her smile calms the beast that rages within him. Gia loves Abel more than life itself, but Abel is disillusioned by love and wrecks Gia in the process. Her life hangs in the balance. His life depends on forgiving her. This couple must face many truths. Is love enough to overcome the damage that dwells within? Gia’s experiences with love have been nil until meeting the infamous bad-boy rocker, Abel Gunner. Swept up in a mind-bending, Dom/submissive love affair, she’s forced to make decisions that both help and hurt their relationship. They both have to face their demons before they can embrace a future together. In the end, they’re faced with two choices: Fight for their love, or die with their demons.

The long awaited sequel to Saving Abel had finally landed; in my Kindle! How excited I was to receive the honour of yet again, reviewing a book written by Gina Whitney.

The story continues exactly where it had left off. Abel had flown half way around the world to go on tour with his band feeling betrayed by Gia. And Gia? Well, the gal in question was left standing all alone feeling completely devastated, totally suicidal. Gina feeling fragile, is a lost soul without her soul mate, completely shuts off from the world. In steps; the most unlikely saviour; Abel’s dad. He gathers her up, takes her half way around the world, and reunites her with her loved one; his son.

Abel sits alone feeling desolate and in pain, drowning his sorrows to get through the hours and days, missing his beloved Gia. After being confronted by his dad, Abel is devastated to learn how leaving Gia had affected her so much. After many hours of talking and sharing details; traumas of times gone by, they both come to the conclusion that their love would overcome any obstacles.

One such obstacle is Abel’s hard faced ex-girlfriend, Morgana. I really disliked this bitchy woman who very conveniently continued to haunt their lives and cause as much chaos and pain as she possibly could. The story follows the couple on a self-discovery of themselves and of each other. The intimate moments still steamed up my glasses; however, their story also filled me with such warmth as they were ‘that’ couple for me! So much in love— me? I turned me into a soppy mess!

I loved that he called her his beauty. The name just seemed to fit her to a tee. I felt quite envious of the love and tenderness Abel showed towards Gia. But there’s someone that troubles you in the storyline, that someone who kept popping up and irritated me no end. The twists and turns of this story filled the pages up quite nicely and held my attention throughout. Abel and Gia were just meant to be and nothing or no-one was going to get in the way!

My thanks to the author for allowing me to review this great book. A well-deserved five glorious shiny stars for an impeccably written book which I couldn’t fault.

Life isn’t always fairytales and rainbows…

And meeting The One doesn’t always mean finding your happily ever after. Because life can give you a precious gift and then dangle it in front of your eyes and you’re left questioning where to go with your future—or if you even have one.

the oneThis is the second book in the Halo Series; the first being Tattooed Dots. Even though you can read The One as a standalone, I highly recommend you read book one first. The story is told from a dual point of view which I really enjoyed. You get to be inside the protagonists minds and see how they felt and coped with what was thrown at each of them.

The One is Nicole and Avery’s story. Avery and Easton were friends from childhood who grew up together, practically like brothers. Avery was taken in by Easton’s parents, and they brought him up alongside Easton as their own. Easton has gone through his fair share of tragedy, too. Avery has itchy feet! He wants to find The One. He feels it’s time to settle down and have a family. So he talks Easton into going on a singles cruise with him. Once on the ship, he meets Nicole. He knows instantly she is The One and he falls fast and hard. As does Nicole. Things between them move at lightning speed, and every waking moment of the cruise is spent together. Mostly in bed! Hot, sexy and passionate, they can’t keep their hands off each other.

Of course, all good things comes to an end; however, they agree to carry on their relationship. This is by no means an easy feat since they can’t stand being separated. Avery decides he wants Nicole with him. When Nicole is faced with something life changing, she moves to New York to be with Avery. Finally she has everything she has ever wanted and Avery feels the same, too. But they are dealt a cruel and devastating blow that sends them into the depths of despair. They both react and deal with it differently and what follows is heart-breaking. Will they overcome the tragedy that tore them apart and continue to build a life together?

As the drama unfolds for Avery and Nicole, Brooke and Easton also have their own problems to face and overcome. In this book, we get to see how these two couples who are best friends, felt and coped with what was happening around them. It’s a great story, and yes, in a way its Tattooed Dots retold and because I’d read book one, it did at times feel like I already knew what was going to happen. Nevertheless, there are parts of their story not told or revealed in book one. This is Avery and Nicole’s story; their feelings, their lives and their dreams. I just loved each character so much so that it was easy to get involved, easy to fall for Easton and Avery! You’ll find yourself rooting for them all in a story which is fast paced at times, but also tender sensitive and heart-rending at others. A wonderful book and I can’t wait for book three!

the one teaser

“Come with me for a second?” Avery asked, whispering into my ear.

I shivered as his breath tickled my ear, causing goose bumps. I looked up at him silently questioning where he wanted to take me, but really, it didn’t matter. “Okay.” I stood.

“We’re going for a walk,” Avery murmured to Brooke and Easton. They barely registered what he’d said. Brooke was laughing with Easton—something that I hadn’t seen her do in a long time. Even her beautiful brown eyes had a twinkle to them.

“Where are we going?” I asked as we started to walk through the crowd.

“This way.”

He linked our hands as we walked to the lounge through the doors that led to the side deck. It was quiet, just a few people making out. We stood against the railing looking out into the open water. All I could see was the Pacific Ocean. No birds. No land—just calm blue water and the ship making little waves as we parted the water.

The heat from Avery’s body radiated off him as his left arm pressed into my right. I wanted more than just his arm touching me. I wanted to know what his mouth felt like on mine. I wanted to know the way he tasted, and the way his hands felt on my body.

“It’s crazy that we’re surrounded by nothing but water,” I said, the wind whisking around us causing my hair to fly in my face.

“Yeah, it is.”

I looked over at him as he spoke, his mouth moving closer with each word. I licked my lips, anticipating the moment his mouth met mine. The seconds felt like hours, and everything was in slow motion as he leaned down, brushing my hair aside with his hand before his lips finally met mine.

It started off slow, like he was testing the waters, testing my reaction. I felt his tongue slip out between his lips, silently asking me to open to him. I moaned, doing what he asked and opened up, allowing his tongue to slip in and take a swipe to taste me. I’d never had a kiss be so slow. So passionate. So right.

Avery’s lips were soft and they fit perfectly with mine. Like they were made for me to kiss…only me.

My hands reached up, running through his silky hair, our bodies stepping closer to one another until they were flush. I felt Avery’s arousal and if he could feel mine, he’d know I want to do more than kiss.

Just as our kiss intensified, we were bumped hard into the railing. I broke our kiss, looking at the couple stumbling as they tried to walk. They didn’t even bother to say they were sorry for running into us.

“Are you okay?” Avery asked.

“We should get back to our friends,” he said with a tight smile. Avery looked as bummed as I felt about the assholes breaking up our kiss.

He reached down and grabbed my hand again. I smiled because even though we’d lost our moment, what was happening between us wasn’t going to stop at one kiss. Maybe we would just talk, get to know each other. But if I was right, his lips were made for me and I wasn’t going to let some drunk assholes ruin my moment.

“Wait.” Avery halted us just before we rounded the corner to the pool. “I want to do that again. Tonight,” he said, looking at my mouth.

I smiled. “Me, too.”

“Good.” He smiled back.

In the world of pain and pleasure, Charles Damien Macavoy reigned. He was a man apart, one who require more than most. He was a Master of BDSM.

He’d been asked by another Dom and good friend to train the Dom’s current sub and love interest. Charles had trained many, but found himself attracted to his new trainee.

He was aware the fascination would wear off, it always did, and he’d returned the trainee to her Master willing and ready to submit.

Lurking in the shadows of a world few are accustomed to is evil. Sometimes a thing of beauty has hidden thorns. Sometimes the hunter becomes the hunted.

This was my very first encounter with the writings of Ethan Radcliff. Yes, I have read his poetry which is sublime in itself, but I’ve never read a full length novel by him. Blow me down with a feather! Why has it taken me so long? Needless to say, I will be delving into the mind of Ethan Radcliff again.

D O M. Charles Damien Macavoy. Even his name conjures up images of grandeur. Suave, sophisticated and charming. Caring towards ladies, this handsome man oozing noodles of sex appeal, makes the list of erotic adjectives endless. And above all, he is a master of BDSM. What more could a girl ask for! Oh! And a rather large appendage that will have the ladies drooling. He is a man who knows how to work it to its best advantage! Yes, I think I’m in love LOL.

Charles is also a man who commands respect and he has that with his fellow masters who occasionally ask him for help in training their submissive women.

Meet Samantha, a submissive whose Dom has fallen in love with her; however, he doesn’t have the control over her has a Dom should have. So he sends her to Charles for training.

Meet Tasha. Beautiful on the outside, ugly on the inside. Charles’s sub. She totally adores Charles and when the two of them get together, it’s explosive and sizzling. There’s something not quite right about Tasha and you just can’t put your finger on it. But you have to read the book to find out what that is.

Meet Maria his sex slave. Her job, to serve her master wherever and whenever it’s required. Which for highly sexed Charles is quite often. Charles and his entourage frequent the BDSM club quite often to enjoy the delights of each other.

Meet Joy, Charles’s neighbour. He has seen her come in and out of the flats, but has never conversed with her except to say a quick hello whilst passing by. A chance encounter in the corridor leads them on a path that they will take together. The instant attraction between them was mutual.

This books takes you through the day to day life of Charles and his ladies. There are little twists and turns that you don’t see coming but that just adds more excitement and suspense to the story.

I salute you Ethan Radcliff. This book was well written. Your story flowed along quite nicely on the page and you kept me entranced throughout. Hence, this book was read in one sitting. As I’ve become an enthusiastic fan of this author, I look forward to reading more of his work. Congratulations! Five well-earned stars.

About the Author:

I’ve been writing since I was a kid. I love creating and tried my hand at art, not bad but not good enough. A guy’s gotta eat. Through high school I wrote erotic stories, kept them in a notebook, let a few of my girlfriends read them. Yeah, played football, baseball, but my brain never stopped thinking of sex. I guess we think about it all the time.

Been on face book for a while never did anything interesting when I was on until I started to see all the writers and then some poets posting their erotic prose.  Men who were writing erotic romance and stories, I knew it was my time to get out the old note book and throw on some poems. Some are old and some are new, the ones about BDSM are newer. In high school or college I wasn’t on that train of thought.

I see a picture it sets me off. A see an attractive women it sets me off. The jiggle of a full ass or heavy breasts, get me going. Yeah, my mind always is on a beautiful face or body.
