Marley: A Carnage Novel Book Summary

From the author of Carnage 1 & 2, comes this follow up novel. Marley tells the story of Carnage from Marley Layton’s POV. It will give you the missing years. Marley is a companion novel to Carnage 1&2 and both of those books should be read first.

Want to know what really happened in that hotel room in Paris?

Want to know if the rumours of Marley, Sean and their sexploits were true?

We got to watch Georgia fall apart but what was Sean going through in those four years they were separated?

Marley will give you the answers but he might just break your heart along the way.

“‘So, they want me to write a book? They want to know about my band, my life, my loves and my losses. But they have no idea what they’re asking for. If I give them what they want, they’ll get so much more than the sex and drugs and the rock and roll they’re expecting. They’ll get the secrets that I’ve kept for so long, they’ll get an insight into the person I really am, or at least was. They think they know my story, they know nothing.

If I do this, if I write honestly and give them the ugly truth, people will get hurt. People that I love, people that have already suffered in the worst possible ways.

Do I do this, or do I walk away? Taking my secrets to the grave.”

Marley is an adult contemporary romance. It contains content suitable only for grownups with an open mind. There are scenes of group sex which include m/f/m a little bit of f/m/m and even some f/f/f/m/m/f/f/f. There is drinking and drug taking involved. A lot of swearing, some Essex slang and some very high emotion. Please don’t complain after reading this book that you weren’t warned.

And yes, of course you’ll need tissues.

TITLE: Just Jack

AUTHOR: KL Shandwick

RELEASE DATE: 20th August

GENRE: Contemporary Romance

Being Lily Parnell’s best friend came effortlessly for Jack. Growing up together, Jack loved Lily and was fiercely protective of her and for almost all of his life all he wanted was to make her happy. When she was happy he was happy, except Lily lived a world away from him now and Jack missed her dreadfully.

As far as Jack was concerned there had never been a time in their lives where they hadn’t shared everything and he valued their special bond. In recent years Lily’s ambitions took her overseas and even with an ocean between them, Jack still managed to support his best friend.
One day things changed everything between them and their relationship began to shift. Lily had carved her own life and after observing a scene involving her, it made Jack take a close look at his own.

Life post-Lily left Jack feeling confused and he decided to take a difficult decision, never realising the potential fallout from doing something he strongly felt was the right thing at the time.

With his life laid bare and as a simple, uncomplicated guy he thought he had finally figured things out. Women loved Jack but they had all come and gone in his life apart from Lily. She was always there until one day she wasn’t.

A revelation by Lily left Jack feeling betrayed and abandoned by the one person who he thought he could rely on no matter what.
During his journey from that moment on Jack faced more separation and loss than he could have ever imagined. How would his experiences shape him as a man and would he ever find it in his heart to forgive?

Rick cracked the door open and padded through it hacking a cough and reaching for the mini-bar. “Mornin’ Lothario.” He croaked in my direction without making eye contact, reading the labels.

Chuckling loudly, there was just no way I was going to live down that after party Mark was talking about, but when I took in the sight of him I couldn’t help but throw a come-back at him.

Did your mother send you that get up, or are the pyjamas supposed to turn the women in your room off enough to leave?”

Rick looked down and smirked at the wine coloured paisley patterned silk pyjama bottoms he was wearing.

Waving his hand at the chair for me to sit down he pulled a glass and poured himself a miniature of gin and a small bottle of tonic water into it. “Long story.”

“Can’t wait.” My hurried comment was followed up with a wide grin as I settled back in the chair with one leg crossed over the other, my ankle resting on my knee.

“Allergy. I’ve got a rash from the starch on the hotel sheets the other night.”

As soon as he said that I knew he was going to regret it and I could see from the startled look on his face he’d been caught off guard and didn’t mean to be so open about it. He knew he’d walked right into something that I’d use against him, even if I was managing to keep my face straight.

“A rash?” I couldn’t keep the humour out of my voice, and there was even the hint of a breakthrough giggle in those two words.

Rick stared pointedly at me as if to say, “Laugh and tear you a new one,” but my sense of humour just overrode any potential fall-out consequences he may have been planning.

“That’s a bit like saying I got pregnant from the sheets, Rick. Don’t you think you’re more likely to have caught something from one of the women in your bed than the sheets? Or don’t you want to believe that just in case you get pussy-fright?

Rick threw the lid of the gin bottle at me and it bounced off my forehead but by that time I was chuckling loudly. “Laugh all you want, I’m allergic to starch. So they got me these from the hotel store because I needed something to make sure I was protected in bed. It was fucking murder trying to play with the itch in my pants the night before last.”

“Most guys wear condoms for protection, Rick not theatrical pyjamas.”

Rick was being deadly serious but the more he spoke the more uncontrollable my laughing became until he stood up and pulled them down to show me the red welts on his legs, his dick at eye level with me. Just as he did this, the door opened and the two girls he had in his bed came through the door.

Turning my head to look at them, I was still stifling a grin. Rick was true to form and had two classic groupies for his sleepover, skinny girls with big tits, no bras, dyed blonde hair with black roots dressed in the usual rock-chick attire of leather mini-skirts, fishnet stockings and tight dark brown and cream t-shirts with the ‘Cobham Street’ motif on them.

“Sorry ladies, I was just about to part-take would either of you like to join me?”

My quip was out before I’d even thought about it. Hell, I was probably going to be sacked after this, but I grinned widely and Rick smacked me around the head, making me cry out— partly in surprise, partly out of pain.

“You’re such a smart ass Jack Cunningham.” Pivoting the top half if his body in their direction he gestured at me with his hand, his pyjamas still at his ankles. “I was just showing him my rash.”

Laughing raucously I stared helplessly at Rick taking in his pathetic form with the patterned material draped around his feet and his dick dangling in front of him. As soon as I knew he felt the need to explain what was happening all of my professionalism suddenly deserted me and I was struggling to catch my breath, let alone stop laughing. The skinnier one of the girls gave a loud snort, then her resolve was gone and she joined in laughing, but I think she was laughing because mine was so infectious more than anything else.

Rick continued protesting his innocence when suddenly the second girl who had been standing staring deadpan erupted in the oddest hee-haw laugh I’ve ever heard in my life. The look on Rick’s face was a picture as he gawped in disbelief with his jaw open taking in all of us laughing hysterically at his expense. I was sure he was going react badly, but even at that I just couldn’t get it together at all.

Rick bent down and pulled his pyjamas up, which I found even funnier for no particular reason and this set off a fresh bout of laughter. Striding over to open the door, Rick waved a finger in the direction of the two women and Jed made short work of evacuating them from the scene. All I could do was watch helplessly because I couldn’t get my laughing fit under control, and I was sure I was going to be next to be thrown out, but probably via the roof terrace.

Closing the door again, Rick bent forward, his hands on his knees and he suddenly cracked up with laughter. “Jack fucking Cunningham, I should bury my size eleven up your ass for what just happened there, and I don’t understand why I can’t…I fucking love you, dude. You have no idea what a breath of fresh air you are in a world full of ‘yes men’. How the fuck have you been?”

Meet Chance in COCKY BASTARD! A standalone Contemporary Romance Novel by

New York Times & USA Today Bestselling Authors

Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland

He was someone who belonged in my wildest fantasies instead of a rest stop in the middle of Nebraska.

A sexy, cocky, Australian named Chance was the last person I expected to run into on my cross-country drive.

When my car broke down, we made a deal. Next thing I knew, we were traveling together, spending sexually-tense nights in hotels and taking unplanned detours.

My ordinary road trip turned into the adventure of a lifetime. It was all fun and games until things got intense.

I wanted him, but Chance wouldn’t make a move. I thought he wanted me too, but something was holding him back.

I wasn’t supposed to fall for the cocky bastard, especially when I knew we’d be going our separate ways.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

Reviewed by Rachel McEwan & Sharon Thérèse Nuttall

Pick it up, turn first page and wham bam, thank you ma’am! Authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward have written a book which came alive in our hands. This brilliantly construed, humorous, but heart-rending story had us spellbound with every word, every sentence, every page, every chapter and every thought the two protagonists had. To say we were hooked lock stock and barrel, would be a putting it mildly. This is the first time these two authors have got together and wow, what a twosome they make! Reading this full-length novel in a day was no skin off our noses; so beware boyfriends and spouses! It is highly likely that you’ll be ignored at some time, have to put up with a fits of crying or even worse, listen to a running commentary while your better half is cracking up over one of the most original characters, storyline and one-liners one could ever wish for in this love story with a difference.

Aubrey ~ ‘’I’m not watching a movie with you in your underwear.’’
Chance ~ ‘’ What ? It’s not like I have an erection.’’

We couldn’t not like Aubrey. She’s not a lawyer by choice; however, this sassy animal-lover has had enough. Working in a law firm where she’d had a relationship with one of the partners, backfired. She decides to move on, loads up her BMW to the hilt with her belongings and starts off on a long journey. Stopping off on route for her destination, she crosses with whom she thinks is the most obnoxious, heart-throb, squeeze-your-thighs-together guy. It just happens that Chance Bateman is in a spot. His Harley has broken down and as they’re going in the same direction, they come to an agreement of sorts; Aubrey, of course, setting down the rules. In the interim period of quick, quirky off the mark banter which flows between them like the waters through the Straits of Gibraltar, we meet Esmerelda Snowflake. Get ready for the ‘kid’ that might just steal the show!

Chance ~ “You know if you set up rules, I won’t be able to help myself. I’ll need to break them.”

Now on route, she’s getting used to his cocky innuendos but is a little confused as to why he doesn’t make a move on her. All said and done, the sexual chemistry they have is nothing less than scorching hot. So why doesn’t he make a play for her? Not telling, but what we will say is that nearly halfway into the book, all is revealed and literally knocked us sideways.

Aubrey ~ “You know what, get over yourself. Someone finally called you on the little game you play. Being rejected sucks,” I scoffed. “Although I’m sure you don’t know the feeling at all.”

After a crazy whirlwind detour to Sin City, we have Aubrey’s point of view when something she never expected happens. The probability of giving your Kindle a good bashing or shouting out a few choice words while reading how she feels about the way she’s been treated is high. Okay, he’s not just drop-dead gorgeous, but this Aussie ex football player whose luck ran out is also going to have to pull out the big guns if wants to get back into Aubrey’s good books. And regardless of his cocky charm and his strong feelings for this woman, things are much more complicated than we could ever have had imagined… Rewind two years and we were in for a shock. Now everything makes sense but against his better judgement, he’d kept it all locked up in their whirlwind romance.

Chance ~ “My dreams don’t have rainbows and doves. They have me pulling your hair as I fuck you on that desk. You want to be my real live dream Princess?”

Fast-forward two years and as hard as Chance tries, he still can’t get this outstandingly beautiful, sexy but unpretentious woman out of his head. With a bit of encouragement from a mate he had made in a place one would never picture him in, he conjures up a plan of attack. Reading his point of view was heartbreaking, enchanting and even though it takes up a good half of the book, we never wanted it to end. The escapades he gets up to weren’t exactly ethical but we were playing on his team all the way. Aubrey, in complete ignorance of what had happened to him over the past two years, has made a new life. Time’s running out for Chance so get ready for his inventively skilful ways and means of catching her attention. Landscaping gardens will take on a new dimension and he can come and do our gardens whenever he pleases!

Aubrey ~ ‘’I need time to process. I’ve spent the last two years hating you.’’
Chance ~ ‘’ I understand.’’

There’s a very good chance (pun intended) you’ll be bowled over by this perfect summer read and fall head over heels for these two adorable lovers and their mascot. Everything about this book we loved. Like demons possessed by the authors’ handy work, we highlighted, took down notes and underlined quotes which never spoilt or hindered this read for us. The descriptive writing is sublime, the protagonists and secondary characters, well-developed and Chance’s Aussie drawl is beyond perfect. Well, AH-BREE thought so. What we look for in a good read is uniqueness and there is no doubt whatsoever that Cocky Bastard offers this. The authors cannily integrated the steamy scenes in such a way that we applaud them. Not over done; just right, just put your air con on though! One word to sum up has to be BRAVO!

Hosted by Francessca’s Romance Reviews

Pain punished her.

The bottle numbed her.

Guilt kept her trapped.

In the dark alley of a pub, the words “Please don’t” take hold of her heart and break the silence she seeks. Thinking herself beyond redemption, she tentatively grabs on to the slim thread of hope that unfolds inside of her.

Holding her secrets close, she can’t resist the comforting draw coming from The Skipper. The unconditional friendships it offers, the protective roof it provides, and the spark that its owner ignites in her—melting the frost off her heart, and slowly stripping away her resistance.

His life flows from one crisis to the next. Under the pressure of competition crowding him out of his family’s pub and the need to protect his children from the ruins of a bad marriage, he barely breathes. That is until a mane of strawberry-blonde hair and a set of big, pale blue eyes, shake him up.

He never expected the shadow of a woman he finds on the floor of his washroom to bring him the air―the balance and the light he’s been missing.

“I have more than I’d learned to be satisfied with for a long time. A bed, a shower every day, warm water—it’s more than enough. More than I deserve…” Her last words are so faint, I almost miss them. The meaning behind them seems clear. She feels a great amount of guilt over something. I haven’t missed the occasional flashes of blatant pain I see in her eyes, nor have I missed the wistful glances she sends in the kid’s direction. That coupled with her initial reaction when she met Dex first has me thinking she’s left something very precious behind.
For a moment she seems so forlorn, I react instinctively and pull her up from her seat and into my arms where she stiffens at the contact.
“Hush. It’s just a hug,” I whisper into her hair that barely touches my chin. Damn, she smells good, and with the angles softening on her body, she feels fucking fantastic in my arms. I feel her relax a little and tentatively her arms slip around my waist and her cheek presses against my chest. “When you need to unburden some of what you’ve been carrying around, I’m right here.” Without thinking I press a kiss on her head.

Freya Barker craved reading about ‘real’ people, those who are perhaps less than perfect, but just as deserving of romance, hot monkey sex and some thrills and chills in their lives – So she decided to write about them. Always creative, from an early age on she danced and sang, doodled, created, cooked, baked, quilted and crafted. Her latest creative outlets were influenced by an ever-present love for reading. First through blogging, then cover art and design, and finally writing. Born and raised in the Netherlands, she packed her two toddlers, and eight suitcases filled with toys to move to Canada. No stranger to new beginnings, she thrives on them. With the kids grown and out in the world, Freya is at the ‘prime’ of her life. The body might be a bit ramshackle, but the spirit is high and as adventurous as ever. Something you may see reflected here and there in some of her heroines…. none of who will likely be wilting flowers.

I never thought that my plan to crash a masked party to exact a bit of revenge would fall apart so easily. It was a foolproof plan. The absolute best scenario. Moon-and-stars-aligned worthy. No one would suspect I was anyone other than the wealthy, self-absorbed girl I pretended to be. The one who would wreak havoc that night.

Then again, I also didn’t plan on running into a wall of sharp wit and steely determination named Calder. The dominant, charismatic Navy SEAL might’ve called me by Celeste’s name, but he refused to let me hide my true self from him. His special brand of honest, seductive charm was impossible to resist. He was confident and demanding…and everything I wanted. But the deeper I fell, the higher the stakes rose while playing a role. So I held onto our intense connection for as long as I could, knowing that he would never know me as Cass.

When an unexpected turn of events gives me a second chance to see Calder again, of course the opportunity come with strings attached. And suddenly, I realize that all those books and movies had gotten it wrong. When you find your souls reflection in another, you shouldn’t be aware of anything other than their body, yours, and the space between.

You shouldn’t be looking for someone whose kiss causes you to escape reality by transporting you to another time and place. Look for the person whose kiss grounds you firmly in the moment, whose arms hold you safely in the now.

When your lips lock with your destiny, you should be aware of every prickle on your skin that rises to greet them, every strand of their hair that caresses your fingers, every gasp of air that reaches your ears.

Most of us kiss with our eyes closed. But that’s not always a good thing. It depends why they’re shut.

If you asked most people to imagine themselves in a situation, the first thing they would do is close their eyes.

You should kiss with your eyes closed to heighten your other senses and block out everything but the now, not to escape to somewhere else.

Reality should be better than your imagination.

Because when it’s right, like this is right, you won’t have to use your imagination at all.

A.J. Compton is a 23 year-old Londoner, professional dreamer, and full time over-thinker. A big believer in going after your dreams, she decided to practice what she preaches and finally finish one of the many incomplete manuscripts she’s started over the years.

Those two facts are not related. Honestly.
