FIVE STARSForever-Baby-Cover

Forever Baby by Ellie Wade is a début by this up and coming new author.  At first look I thought the book was another one of those coming of age female and male best friends in love kind of story. I was pleasantly surprised.

It begins with Olivia and Nolan, two American best friends. They go away to Spain for the summer on a foreign exchange programme. The two of them stay with Spanish families with college students their own age and become fast friends. One of the friends is Andres and there seems to be an instant attraction between Olivia and Andres. Olivia is a very insecure young lady and Andres has deep routed issues. Consequently, he does not do relationships and he is a bit of a player, too. These two embark on a summer romance which is very intense with some hot sex scenes.

We see how the characters come to terms with their feelings and how in turn, they deal with them. Like all summer romances, they come to an end when the visitor goes home.

The turn of events when Olivia goes home are very surprising and not what I expected. Albeit while reading through the book, I felt that some angst was on its way and I wasn’t wrong. The whole experience is very painful for Olivia but she also has to battle with her insecurities. This was one of those stories where it chopped and changed for predicting how it would end. I for one, was very happy with the end. It went how I wanted it to as I very much invested in the characters.

I’ve got to say that even though Olivia was a very insecure character, she was sweet, caring and funny. There were a couple of chapters where I shed a tear for them and it wasn’t surprising considering the fact that the fantastic writing by the author makes you believe in this story. It actually made you feel like you were right there in amongst the angst.

I will be watching Ellie Wade with interest of what’s produced next and thinking about it, I think the characters could be revisited as there could be stories for the supporting characters. The over 18 rating is because of the sexual content and moderate language. Granted it’s about young adults, but I would say the more mature reader would enjoy this book. It is very well written and Ellie certainly knows how to tell a story well.

The storyline of this book isn’t an easy one. It is full of complex twists and turns which pop up when you least expect them to. But saying that, the author has managed to give this angst-ridden love triangle of a story flow. While on school holiday, young twin brothers, Jared and Justin, befriend Meadow when she’s dragged along to her mother’s place of work. The new school term starts and that’s when their friendship blossoms into love. Both are extremely protective of her and although there’s a certain amount of rivalry, their lives don’t start to get complicated until Meadow makes a discovery which she doesn’t want to reveal to anyone. When the cat is eventually let out of the bag is when we see a huge turning point in the story. The boys’ father is a nasty piece of work and even though I couldn’t stand him, he fitted perfectly into this gripping plot that had me turning the pages until the early hours of the morning. Meadow’s mother upset me immensely, too! A loose lady in a small town who’s more interested in her temporary bedmate than in the daughter’s welfare. I could have strangled her for being so selfish and I’m sure you will too!

KER DUKEY 1Meadow’s heart has an owner, yet the battle to win her over is going to have you sitting on the edge of your seat. She is beautiful, shy, sensitive, and loves writing songs. Hence, when the brothers buy her a guitar for her fourteenth birthday, her inspiration flourishes. She’d already been christened Beats by one of them, and she in turn, had christened the brother who plays the guitar, Riff (Rift). These gorgeous males might be identical twins but they’re like chalk and cheese. One is hot-headed with a very strong personality, the other more placid. But the only thing they do have in common throughout this fabulously well-written story is going to rip their lives to shreds. Will they be able to get their act together regardless of the many mistakes they’ve make? Will all be forgiven once they find out about the bombshell that’s going to be dropped on them, too? Talk about bowl me over and knock the air out of my lungs is an understatement! I never expected that outcome and found it enthralling.

The sex scenes are so explicitly described that I had to get the fan out! Flipping heck, the author certainly knows how to get you flustered! I’ve read other books by Ms Dukey and this is without a doubt one of the best she has written yet. Simply bravo Ms Dukey. Simply Bravo! KER DUKEY 2

THE ALPHABET GAME #1 by Andie Long

I’m still not sure if it was the author’s intention of getting so many laughs, but this hot steamy story certainly had me in stitches! What a little gem of a book. It didn’t matter in the slightest that I’m not that keen on reading short stories either because when I finished it, all I wanted was more!

Things are not what they seem from the very beginning. Stella is on her way to a job interview but before going to her appointment, she is literally bumped into while waiting for her daily Latte. Say no more about this as it’s a crucial turning point in a plot that doesn’t move, it flies! Not only is her interviewer sex on legs, but she also finds herself in a very embarrassing situation.

Stella’s best friend’s personality is described to perfection. She loves a drink and couldn’t care a dam about the time of day. Nosy as hell, Stella always fills Ronnie in all her sexapades and in return, gets advice from her. Both of them are born with a silver spoon in their mouths and even though Stella has no need to work, she has a devious plan to bring down a person that she hates with a passion and the only way of doing this is by working for Mr. Sex on Legs! She is portrayed as an innocent young woman but when she catches on to the game and ALPHABET GAME IMAGE hits the sack, well, well, well, what a sex fiend she blossoms into. Gabriel Gregory is an ace throwing the innuendos around and if you like hot sticky sex scenes which I might add, are rife throughout the book, you won’t be let down.

The author has a knack with the banter between all the characters. The storyline is brilliant, the grammar impeccable and the title is apt. All I can say is that I so looking forward to reading and reviewing The Alphabet Game #2. Keep the good work up Ms Long. Bravo.

I found the beginning of this unusual love story a tad slow to start with but fortunately it picked up and boy oh boy, did it pick up! This is when the author’s writing style really kicked in. The way she describes her main protagonists I liked immensely and the banter between them was more than refreshing.

This isn’t your classical love story because not only does boy meet girl, but their two best friends also meet their better half in the same place at the same time. An interesting rendezvous especially organised for singles will be where their relationships start in brackets. I say this in brackets as Brooke is adamant that she’s going to stay faithful to a boyfriend who isn’t exactly her knight in shining armour. Moreover, she isn’t at all convinced that her best friend’s choice of a getaway is for her.

Easton is a player of sorts. Since the mother of his child had died, this horrendously good-looking ex-model doesn’t go all the way! Yeah folks, you’ll have to use your imagination, but don’t despair and have a little patience! When the sex scenes eventually develop between the girl he instantly falls in love with, they are well-illustrated and hot. His egocentric attitude will change overnight when he realises that he’s found the woman he wants to share his and his daughter’s life with. I especially liked Easton’s comprehension and subtle persuasion towards Brooke throughout the book.

I was somewhat confused about the title of this book since neither Easton nor his friend and business associate had tattoos, and it was only until nearly the end did I realised that this is used in medical terminology. I take my hat off to the author. She had me guessing all the way. The author’s sensitivity and knowledge regarding an illness many of us have to deal with directly or indirectly is commendable. Her characters are easy to relate to and apart from the beginning, it is a really lovely story. The grammar, vocabulary and general flow is faultless. Ms. Knight, this is the first book I have read of yours and I wouldn’t doubt reading more of your books. Bravo!

Have you ever read a novel that you just can’t put down and you drop whatever you’re doing, regardless? Well, my oh my, this is it! I had no intention of reviewing either but when something is worth shouting about, you shout!

I was gob-smacked, sucked in and completely taken aback from the first page of the prologue and started consuming the pages in desperation! Ok! Perhaps that’s a little exaggerated but that is what it felt like at the time.

The author’s two protagonists have big with a capital B personal issues. If one is damaged, the other more. Nevertheless, this setback doesn’t stop them being drawn to each other in a highly sexual way. And even though Nathan warns her to stay away for reasons that are unravelled in a plot that grips you, will this totally insecure woman who portrays to be a successful lawyer be able to do just that? Not only are their personalities described to perfection and you can’t help falling in love with them, but the author’s description of their physical appearance and the hot, hotter than hot sex scenes were also beyond any of my expectations.

Ah Lila! Extremely wary of certain people since her younger years have been so downright cruel seems to morph into a sex fiend when she connects to the man she doesn’t think she’s worthy of! Nathan! God forbid! This man made my blood boil! Utterly professional in his line of work, domineering, horrendously good-looking and what a dirty, dirty talker underlined and highlighted he is! There were times when I could have thrown my kindle at the wall in frustration and that folks, is exactly what I’m looking for in a good read. There’s a cliffy folks! And thank goodness there is because I want more, more, more!!!

This review is obviously for the reader but I must say a few words to Ms. Lynn. This is without a doubt, one of the best books in dark genre that I have read this year. The grammar, vocabulary and overall flow of this novel is faultless. Bravo!

KFF received ARC for an honest review. I made the awful mistake of starting this book in the evening without realising that it was going to be one of those reads you just can’t put down. Consequently, I paid the price the next morning with a reader’s hangover! What a book and a half! I had no idea what to expect and was pleasantly surprized to see how this more than original plot evolved around the lives of not only the main protagonists, but also the not so secondary characters. Every one of them has an important part to play in this exceptional love story.

I really don’t want to “let on” since this is without a doubt, a must read and the last thing I want to do is spoil it for you. However, I will tell you a little about Marla and Gabriel. Gabe to his friends, is a hunk of an Irish man. He’s stunningly handsome, horrendously sensitive, and he has a sense of humour that’ll make your laugh your socks off! Marla is horrified when she finds out that the business he’s planning to open slap bang in front of her wedding chapel with a difference in a sleepy Shropshire village is going to be totally incompatible. And here’s where the show begins folks! Even though you can literally feel the attraction palpitate between them, these two gorgeous characters clash like the Titans and as neither of them are prepared to back down, you’ll have to take sides! Both are ignorant to the fact that the helping hands of Gabe’s devious secretary, Melanie, and a not so honest newspaper reporter, Robert, will complicate matters even more. Marla is at all times, surrounded by an array of friends and co-workers who won’t always make the right decisions either. They all have their issues which in turn, is woven into a complex web of misunderstandings.

This multi-love story offers a little bit of everything. The hot sexy scenes included won’t disappoint you. The banter between all the author’s characters had me in stitches and there were moments when I even had to  resort to a full packet of tissues, too! It’s literally amazing how Ms French made her character’s personalities come alive and I salute you for such a well-written book. Simply bravo!

The author kindly gave me the ARC for an honest review. She warned me to have an open mind. I did! This is probably one of the most erotic dark reads which didn’t shock me that much. This unusual story is absorbing from the first page and not easy to put down. I liked the fact that it’s a standalone immensely and it’s the kind of book I would take to the beach with me. It’s not too long or too short and even though it’s categorized as such, the sex scenes aren’t overwhelmingly suffocating like in many in dark reads.

I connected to Celeste straight away. Her boyfriend’s stance makes her realise that there’s much more to life than what she’s been used to. Because of circumstances, she makes a brave decision which is quite out of character. For someone so young and inexperienced, I thought her plan was a great one. Of course, things don’t work out as they should and here we have a plot that will have you biting your finger nails!

Leonide’s business is far from legit. When Celeste has a chance meeting with him in a hotel in Las Vegas, she thought her luck had changed. However, this seemly suave and debonair man has dastardly intentions for this attractive young woman. Not only would she ever be able to envisage the outcome of their rendezvous, but it would also change her very existence. Celeste doesn’t want to go back to being who she was before and even though he demands subservience, her strong character blossoms when she puts up a feisty fight throughout the story. The question is; will he concede and give her the choice she so desperately lusts after? The banter between the two protagonists is excellent, the very hot steamy moments are explicitly described and never let me down!

What amazed me about this book was the author’s capability of enthralling me with just two main characters. The secondary character does have an important part but he is mentioned more by name than in person.

Please excuse me but the one small thing that always niggles me are the Americanisms used in this type of book. Obviously this is a very personal opinion coming from a Brit but apart from that, this book is excellent. The grammar and spelling faultless, the plot original and I won’t be forgetting Leonide since he has become my new book boyfriend!  Bravo Ms. Flite!
