He knows how to score, on and off the ice

Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn’t have the first clue about what she’s going to do after college. To make matters worse, she’s nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands.

It’ll take more than flashy moves to win her over

Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls…he’s a ladies man, all right, and he’s yet to meet a woman who’s immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world—and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It’s not over until he says it’s over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it’s time to stop focusing on scoring…and shoot for love.

Kindle Friends Forever 5 Review by Sarah Bookhooked.

After reading and loving Garret and Hannah in The Deal and Logan and Grace in The Mistake, I couldn’t believe it when I was given the opportunity to review The Score. I can tell you now that after reading about both Dean and Allie in the other books, I was really anxious to read their story. And let me tell you now, it most definitely not disappointing. If anything, this is by far my favourite.

Dean is well known on campus with the ladies. He isn’t ashamed to flaunt what he has and as he says himself, “Live the life of Dean.” He is at college until he goes to Harvard to follow in his family’s footsteps; law. He is more than happy to live up to what people want to believe what he’s like. A typical college hockey player and a lady’s man, but is this really who he is!

Allie who is Hannah’s ‘BFF’, has split from her boyfriend of three years, studies drama at college as she wants to become an actress. She likes things safe since she’s always been in a long term relationship. So after one night with lots of tequila, she finds herself waking up in Deans bed. This would be Dean who has been give strict instructions to stay away from Allie given his reputation with the ladies. The fact that he was about to have a threesome when Allie arrives at the door is mortifying as she doesn’t do casual sex.

Quote: “God, I’m not cut out for casual sex. I feel…defiled. Except that’s ridiculous, because if anyone was defiled last night, it was Dean. Not only did I seduce him, but I tied him up and rode him like he was my own personal amusement park ride.”

However, Dean has definitely met his match in Allie with the way the sparks flew and oh boy, does he want more! There was no denying this was going to be a one night only thing. Come to think of it, there wasn’t actually sparks setting the sheets set on fire when these two were together! After lots of pestering from Dean, Allie finally caves in and admits to herself that deep down she wants to spend another night with him. She hopes they can work each other of their systems; however, one more night isn’t enough. So these two agree to hooking up but not telling any of their friends.

This book had some real laugh out loud moments like the incident with ‘Winston’, and then while they are trying to watch a movie…

Quote: “Why is your arm around me?” His expression is all innocence. “This is how I watch movies.” “Really? So you put your arm around Garrett when you watch movies with him?” “Absolutely. And if he’s nice to me, sometimes I slide my hand down his pants.” Dean’s other hand skims down to the waistband of my leggings. “Be nice to me, and I promise I’ll be even nicer in return.”

Of course, behind the person he lets people see, there is so much more to him than he lets on. He’s a really clever guy regardless of him being wary of his past and falling for anyone again. Then there’s Allie only doing relationships and not a bit of slap and tickle on the side. Can these two keep emotions out of it? I’ll let you read and find out for yourself.

I really did love this story from the happy laugh out loud moments to the sad ones, too. Elle’s writing is fantastic and with the way this read ended… I can’t wait for Tuckers story!

KFF’s 5 ★ REVIEW by Sarah Bookhooked

There’s no denying Jane is one of my favourite authors and Semper Fi didn’t fail to be another incredible read.

After reading and loving The Education of Sebastian (TEoS) which took place ten years before The Education of Caroline (TeoC), and both from Caroline’s point of view, Semper Fi is the retelling of The Education of Caroline from Sebastian’s point of view. I’m a big lover of a duel point of view read so when I heard that Jane had written this, I was thrilled that I was not only going to be getting more of Seb, but also his POV. Oh, how I loved to be inside his head and hear this outstanding story in his own words.

Seb was only seventeen when he fell in love with Caro. Caroline was thirty, married, but things weren’t going as well as they should have been for her. You get their back story in the first book, (The Education of Sebastian), which tells us how these two fell for each other and the outcome after being torn apart.

My heart went out for Caro. Her very existence was an absolute nightmare. Controlled by husband and still married to him, she meets up with Sebastian once again. She hadn’t seen him since he was a little boy; now he’s a seventeen year old who had had a rough life no thanks to his parents. So his upbringing wasn’t a great start and it wasn’t made any better after they found out about them being together.

Ten years later, Caro is a journalist and Seb enlisted as a marine. Meeting up anew, it just happens that Seb is preparing to go back to Afghanistan. Even though emotions are at bursting point, little does he know that she will end up reporting in this conflictive war zone. So when he spots her, he realises she is and has always been his one and only true love. How does he win her back? He’s still madly in love with her and prepared to do whatever it takes to get her back and be his forever.

Quote: Seb ~ “Caro, I’ve got seventeen days before I ship out. I’d like to spend them with you. That’s all. If you don’t want to see me after that…well, I guess that’s it.”

But is she prepared to give it another go with Seb?

Quote: Caro ~ “Look, today, tonight—it’s been fun. But like I said to you before, I’m really not looking to get tied down again.

These two go through so much from a road trip where they get to know each other more, to heading out to a combat area together, to a horrible accident and suffering PTSD. Can they both pull through his trauma and get the ending they both deserve? I most certainly felt that they warranted it. For me, the quote below simply sums up his undeniable love for her.

Quote: Seb ~ I looked into her eyes, so she could see the truth of my words. “I love you, Caro, so much. I haven’t changed how I feel. I still love you—I’ve always loved you. It’s only ever been you.”

So my biggest fear was whether or not they would be able to overcome the past and conquer the present? I’ll leave this for you to find out for yourselves in this beautifully written story. Saying that, I am sad that we won’t get any more of Caro and Seb. The ending! Wow, it literally took my breath away. Quite magnificent.

Flawlessly plotted with really good character development, this story, for me, flowed from the beginning to the end with perfection. I can’t wait for the next brilliant piece of writing from Jane. Oh, and one more thing I really must add is the age difference. Loved it!

I love to write.

I was born on the 13th, which explains a lot.

I write every day and get twitchy on the days when I’m prevented from writing.

I live by the beach, so you’ll find a beach scene in all of my books sooner or later.

Hobbies include ogling hot surfers.

Writing is solitary but that doesn’t make it lonely. My FB and Goodreads friends are very important to me. My writing buddies are A. Meredith Walters and Devon Hartford—lovely, kind, generous people.

I carry a notebook EVERYWHERE. I never know when ideas will come to me. I even write notes to myself at night in the dark. Hopefully I can read the scrawl I’ve written in the morning.

There’s a little part of me in every book I write. The philosophy from ‘Playing in the Rain’ is that you have to make the most of the life you’re given—choose to be happy as much as you can and look for the positive. I don’t always make it, but I do try.

Miller “Buck” Butterson has been banging his way through life ever since a puck to the face fixed his messed up front teeth, and he was drafted into the NHL during his first year of college. After five years of deflecting goals on the ice and scoring them with puck bunnies across the Continental US and parts of Canada, Miller is ready for a girlfriend. A real girlfriend of the non-bunny variety. One he takes on dates and doesn’t jump into bed with after five seconds of conversation.

Miller thinks he’s found that woman in his teammate’s sister. Except, unlike Alex Waters, center, team captain and all round nice guy—who happens to be dating his step-sister—Miller’s manwhore reputation is well earned, and not blown out of proportion by the media. Beyond that minor detail, Miller doesn’t know the first thing about having a girlfriend. But he’s determined to make it happen.

What he doesn’t take into account is the amount of time and effort relationships require, or that constantly letting bunnies take selfies with him to post all over social media isn’t going to win him any points in the boyfriend department. Miller learns—not so quickly—that if he wants to make Sunshine “Sunny” Waters fall for him, he going to have to do a whole lot more than show her his stick skills in the bedroom.

Reviewed by Sarah Bookhooked.

After reading and absolutely loving Violet and Alex in Pucked, I was thrilled when Pucked up arrived on my Kindle.

This is Violet’s stepbrother, Miller ‘Buck’ Butterson and Alex’s sister, Sunny’s story. After reading Pucked and the way Vi portrayed Buck to be, I expected him to be this guy who he really wasn’t. Confusing, eh? Well, yes and no, but if you read Pucked book one first, this’ll help put everything into perspective. Buck is really sweet deep down, who after falling for Sunny, wants to try to reassure her that he isn’t that person the press and social media make him out to be. Gossip is rife; her listening to the opinions of others could put a spanner in the works.  In other words, he wants her to believe and trust in him.

This story showed Buck’s more emotional side. How his Dyslexia affected his life and just what he was doing to help those less fortunate. This book didn’t have the same laugh out loud moments that Pucked had; nevertheless, it did make me chuckle with the more unfortunate comical situations that Buck found himself in. Some of the things he said and what went through his mind, made me crack up. The two following quotes were without a doubt, my favourites.

Buck: “Pfft. Waters couldn’t break my dick off if he tried. It’s made of straight magic, like a unicorn horn. Except not sharp. And made of flesh instead of whatever mythical substance unicorn horns are made of. But it’s unbreakable.”

Buck thinking out aloud: “Being the provider of the first big “O” gives me some power. It elevates my status. I’m the White Knight in the land of Orgasmia, wielding my magical sword of awesome.”

I was so frustrated with Sunny though. How she spent more time listening and believing everyone else rather than listening to what Buck had to say and not having faith in him, made me want to pull my hair out! But when these two were together…wow! Hot, hot, hot stuff!

But like I said, on the flip side, these two were so cute when they finally get things sorted out.

Buck: “You tired, sweets? You wanna go to sleep?”
Sunny: “No. I want you to love me.”
Buck: “You’re not tired of being loved yet?”

I loved the glimpses we got of Violet, Alex and the other characters we first met in Pucked. Violet is still as funny and entertaining as ever in the things she says and does! Overall, this follow up is an excellent compliment to the first book with a happily ever after. The storyline flows impeccably, the editing, faultless. So looking forward to reading book three and seeing who’s story is next.

Twelve years ago Tucker McCoy walked away from the hell that was his family with not much more than the shirt on his back. No regrets. Never once looking back.

Living his life as a roustabout turned stunt rider with a traveling carnival keeps a smile on his face. His new family are the people he’s chosen to be in his life, the people who travel his road. Kes, Zach and Zef don’t share his blood, but they share his hopes and dreams. Understand his fears and know what makes him tick. They’re his brothers, his real family.

If you keep moving, no one can catch you—it’s a simple rule. So when Tucker crosses paths with Tera Hawkins, he knows he should move on. There’s no woman that’s ever been worth breaking his rules for. Besides, she’s off limits, untouchable. He knows stronger men would walk away, but dammit, he’s always been weak.

All he can offer her is a night she’ll never forget, but will that one taste be enough?

The motorcycles circled the stadium like gladiators, or maybe like men jousting on horseback in days gone by: charging at each other, daring each other, until eventually they were ringed around the outer fence, each preparing for their first jump.

Zef went first, blasting off the ramp, followed a split second later by Tucker in the opposite direction, and I was so certain they were going to crash in the middle, I screamed and closed my eyes.

Aimee squeezed my hand hard, causing me to wince. I opened my eyes just in time to see Kes leaping through a circle of fire, the flames glancing off his helmet.

On and on it went, higher, faster, closer. Sweat trickled down my body, pooling under my armpits, leaving me drenched and weak.

The engines revved and hummed, and then they all charged together, a flying tower of men, with Kestrel cartwheeling over the top of them.

The crowd screamed and clapped and cheered, and Aimee and I stood up, shrieking with them.

“Oh my God!” I yelled over the noise. “I nearly had a heart attack!”

Aimee laughed and wiped her eyes.

“Every time,” she whispered, her voice shaky. “Every time.”

I followed her back to the RV where the guys were peeling off their sweat-soaked leathers, standing in their underwear, huge smiles plastered across their faces.

Tucker scooped me up in a sweaty hug, his hot skin slick to the touch.

“You are amazing!” I said honestly, a relieved laugh breaking out of me. “Stinky, but amazing!”

He laughed loudly, his head thrown back, his eyes crinkling with happiness, and then he kissed me, deeply.

KFF’s 5 ★ review by Sarah Bookhooked

After reading the first two books in the travelling series and absolutely loving them, I wanted more!! Then when I heard that Jane said she was writing Tucker McCoy’s story, I can honestly say I was itching to get my hands on this story. And what more can I say than Jane has written another beautiful story in this fantastic series!

Tucker is known as the joker and the womaniser of the trio of the Hawkins Daredevils Stunt Team that he rides with yet behind all that, he’s such a beautiful character. He has a big heart for his Carnie family who after his terrible past, you can see why they are as he calls them, his real family, his brothers, Kes and Zef. I was really hoping that he would get his happily ever after like Kes did with Aimee.

Tucker had such a terrible time when he was growing up. His only friend was Renee, and they only had each other to help them through the tough times, but when you grow up with a past like they have, you have to do what you can to get to where you want to be…Tucker found this out for himself with Renee after what she did to him.

Quote ~ “Maybe I thought that if Fate or life or my own damn family was going to shit on me, I’d smile at them all. I’d keep smiling till my lips cracked, and I’d never let them know that they’d beaten me.”

Then at the other end of the spectrum is Tera who we found out at the end of the travelling series and is Kestrel half sister…the senator’s daughter. At 27, she has always been taken care of in the way of money, accommodation, education and love from her family. Now don’t get me wrong, she’s not a feeble girl who doesn’t know how to take care of herself, it’s just the way it’s always been for her. However, after meeting Tucker, she knew what she wanted, and she was prepared to stand her ground against her family to be with him. But amidst his womanising past, he was only ever interested in one night with any woman, or after finding out Tera was Kes’s half sister; merely be friends with her. Could Tera change his mind and could they be more than just friends?

When these two got together it was like an explosion in a chemical factory. They are so utterly perfect for each other that the steam factor was off the scale! But once Tera saw past the mask that Tucker was so used to wearing and she saw the real him and he was talking about his past, I felt like I was in Teras shoes and I was his ‘sugar’. I honestly wanted to cry and hold him! Please don’t misunderstand me. These two have to go through an awful lot to get the ending they deserve. I loved it when Tucker finally accepted his feelings for Tera after everything they had been through.

Quote ~ “The people you love always let you down; they always leave you. That’s all I knew. But you . . . you kept coming back.”

And this is how much Tera loved him. How proud of him she was.

Quote ~ “That was my man out there. My man performing those harebrained stunts. My man who looked so incredibly hot in his racing leathers, so fearless as he flew through the air, a man adored by men, women and children, a man who would be in my bed tonight.”

It was great to see and catch up with all the characters from the other books, too. I can truly say this has been one of my favourite series. I’ve read Jane’s writings which are absolutely beautiful and I can only hope for more. I think one of my favourite quotes that stands out for me and sums up this beautiful series is simply…

“This is the carnival, where magic happens . . . and dreams come true.”

The Traveling Man (Traveling Series, #1)

Amazon US | Amazon UK | B&N

traveling man

I was ordinary. Nice. He was extraordinary. And he wasn’t always nice.

Moody and difficult, brilliant and beautiful, Kes scared me and he protected me. He could be incredibly hurtful and incredibly thoughtful. He wasn’t perfect, but he was perfect for me. He challenged me, he took me out of my safe little box and showed me the world could be magnificent. He was everything I wasn’t.

Aimee Anderson is ten when the traveling carnival first comes to her nice little town. She doesn’t expect her world to change so completely. But meeting Kestrel Donohue puts her life on a different path.

Even though she only sees him for the two weeks of the year when he passes through her home town, his friendship is the most important of her life. As a child’s friendship grows to adult love, the choices become harder, and both Kes and Aimee realize that two weeks a year will never be enough.

The Traveling Woman (Traveling Series, #2)

Amazon US | Amazon UK | B&N

traveling woman

How many times do you gamble on love? When love has knocked you down, should you give it another chance? When does optimism become stupidity?

And what happens when the man you’re in love with is never still, always moving, always traveling? Do you say goodbye, or do you leave behind everything that you’ve worked for, everything that you’ve ever known? Can a traveling carnival be my home?

Oh. You thought I had the answers. No, sorry. No answers, just a lot of questions—and a heart that wants to rule my head.

Can one person be my home?

Reviewed by Sarah Bookhooked

Where to start other than to say how much I loved this story! With the book’s opening chapter heading reading, “They don’t play for the same team. Or do they?” That’s it…I was hooked right until the end of a fantastic epilogue!

Loving his best friend for so long without him knowing was something Wes had done for years. Going from meeting Jamie at hockey camp at Lake Placid as kids, then spending every summer together. After one drunken night of fooling around together, Wes simply walks away without talking about what happened. Fast forward four years and Wes didn’t realize just how much he still loves and wants Jamie. Until he saw him again. Every summer, Jamie went back to the same camp to coach the kids which he loved doing. Wes sees this as his perfect opportunity to get to spend some time with Jamie and hopefully get his best friend back.

Jamie was more than shocked to see Wes coaching at summer camp and was looking forward to finding out why he lost his best friend. Finding out Wes was gay didn’t make him see his friend any differently. But after one night in a bar and couple of drinks, all it took was a guy chatting Wes up for Jamie to suddenly feel jealous for someone else to be taking Wes’s attention away from him.

Quote – “The thought of Wes hooking up with someone tonight pisses me off. Jealous? A little voice mocks. Screw that. I’m not fucking jealous. I don’t care what Wes does—or who he does—but we were supposed to hang out tonight. Me and him. Not him and some random guy he met.”

Or was it that for the first time in his life he was feeling something towards a guy who just so happened to be his friend? Hmm… only one way to find out; he bites the bullet. After leaving the bar, he gives Wes a scorching kiss which wakens up his body and this is the start of a journey for Jamie…is he Gay? Is he straight? Is he bisexual? He really doesn’t know, but Wes is there for him because after all, he has always loved him more than just a friend. He can’t say no to him or the opportunity to be with him.

This was such a lovely duel POV read for both characters. There’s Wes who knows who he is and who he loves, but doesn’t want to lose his career offer in the NHL, Toronto. And then Jamie learning about himself and unsure about if his future of going to Denver into the NHL, and if it’s what he really wants to do. But it’s not a story without bumps because what kind of story would that be? What happens when summer is over? Wes leaves but Jamie has to see him to tell him how he feels.

Quote – “I didn’t get a chance to tell you in Lake Placid, so I’m telling you right now. Just in case we can ever get more than a summer. I love you, and I wish things were different.”

It was Wes’s reaction that made Jamie tell him he loved him. So perfect but I’ll not give that away.

These ladies know how to write a fantastic m/m story, and the steam factor…oh boy, they can most definitely write that!!! I can honestly say I loved every page. Reading these guys journey and seeing that they both got the beautiful ending the both deserved made me so happy. Well done for such a brilliant story ladies!

Released: 3rd May, 2015

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Age: Adult

With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. So of course she isn’t interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. When Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet’s misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match.

Suffering from a complete lapse in judgment, Violet discovers just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants. Violet believes her night of orgasmic magic with Alex is just that: one night. But Alex starts to call. And text. And email and send extravagant—and quirky—gifts. Suddenly, he’s too difficult to ignore, and nearly impossible not to like.

The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn’t want to be part of the game.

“What you said about your beaver, is it true?”

It sounds so ridiculous; I laugh uncontrollably.

“Fuck me,” Alex mutters.

I stop laughing. First off because I think it’s an actual request. Secondly, I have this fantastic image of me underneath him.

“It’s true.” My voice is all breathy and soft, courtesy of the porno running through my head.

“Seriously?” He sounds excited. Like really, really excited.

“About stroking my beaver? No. Beavers are dangerous. They shouldn’t be stroked.”

“Can you stop saying ‘beaver’? Look, what are you doing right now?”

“Drinking beer and watching porn, why?” Tomorrow I’m sure I’ll be appropriately ashamed of the content of this conversation. For now, I’m thoroughly entertained.

“Because I’m standing outside your suite. Do you want company?”

I sit up so fast, the room spins. “You are not.”

“I am. Suite six-oh-nine. Want me to knock?”

“No! Don’t! Hold on.”

I sprint across the room and yank the bedroom door open. The common living room is empty. I consider a tuck and roll across the floor for fun, but I’m uncoordinated, so I settle for running. Throwing open the door, I find Alex with his jacket slung over one arm and his phone to his ear.

I step out into the hall. “You weren’t kidding.”

I follow his gaze. Oh yes, now I remember. I’m wearing Spiderman jammies designed to fit pre-pubescent boys. It’s cold in the hallway and I’m braless, which draws attention to my chest. My nipples are clearly saluting him through the threadbare fabric.

“I forgot my lace teddies at home.” I almost wish I owned one, except lace is uncomfortable and impractical. “What are you doing here?” I cup my boobs to protect my nipples from further visual molestation.

His eyes drop for a split second, as if my nipples have their own force field, andthen return to my face. “I, uh . . . do you want to hang out?”

I cringe. “I’m staying with my parents.”

“You could come up to my suite.”

“I was going to bed.” So lame.

“I figured.”

And there’s the smile again. He rocks those damn dimples. The banged-up face and the bruises seem to elevate the level of pretty.

“I’m not having sex with you.” Dear Lord, my mouth needs a censor.

He doesn’t even flinch. “That’s cool. I wasn’t expecting sex.”

“Really?” I assumed by hang out he clearly meant get naked.

“Really. Promise.” He puts his hand over his heart, his eyes softening as his cheeks flush. He’s blushing. It’s kind of cute.

“Oh. Well, then. I guess—I’ll get changed.” There I am, agreeing to go up to a hot-as-hell hockey player’s room in the middle of the night for not-sex.

This book has everything in it that I like to make it a great read for me.

Hot alpha male… check.
A fab leading female character that has no filter on what comes out of her mouth… check.
Duel POV… check.
Hockey… check.
A Book club… check.
Totally laugh out loud moments… double check!!

Can you tell how much I liked this book by any chance? So where to start… how much I loved the main characters in this books… Violet Hall with her mouth that engages before her brain made me laugh so much and the very yummy Alex Waters.

Violet has very little interest in hockey yet her stepbrother Buck aka ‘the Yetti,’ is playing for the Hawks. She’s really not interested in going but she’s talked into going to the game to support him with her mum, her stepfather and her book.Yes, you heard me right! Her book which she’s trying to read for a book club is when she first sets eyes on the delicious captain, Alex. After winning the game and having drinks in the bar, Alex and Violet meet up. However, Violet is being cautious after dating a hockey player in the past. Let’s just see how dubious she is!

Violet: ‘Hockey players are bad news. Especially ones as hot as he is.’

Quote ~ Alex: “Hi, I’m Alex.”

Violet: ‘He’s all pretty smile and white teeth. They’re probably fake. Those eyes are something else, though, even if he is sporting the makings of a black eye. I try hard not to look directly at him, afraid I’ll be ensnared by his rugged, handsome face.’

But after a make out session and swapping numbers, they meet up again in the hotel corridor outside her room. Violet decked out in her Spiderman pyjamas, they spend a very hot and steamy night together. I can honestly say this has to be the only read where body parts got into a relationship before they did!

Quote ~ Violet: ‘This is such an odd situation; the awkwardness causes me to continue to spew idiocy.’ “Fine, you got me. I wasn’t sucking his dick. We were fucking each other’s mouths with our tongues. This is otherwise referred to as kissing, but mouth fucking sounds way dirtier, so I’m gonna go with that.”

Knowing what the media say about Alex, Violet really doesn’t want to be classed as a puck bunny. So after their night together, she avoids him. But after a lot of convincing in the way of phone calls, text messages, emails, gifts and visits to the workplace from Alex, they get their first date and with that their relationship begins. But of course, as all great stories go, not everything goes as planned thanks to the media. Someone is bound to get hurt. Do they get their happily ever after? Well, you’ll have to read it to find out! I’m not one to tell spoilers or the ending of a story in a review, but if you’re like me, and all of the above mentioned tickles your fancy, I most certainly recommend that you give it a go.

The story is told from a dual point of view which I love. To hear both sides of the story, especially from these two, was great. All in all, it was a highly entertaining, light and funny read, and hopefully this won’t be the last we hear from either Alex or Violet. And I’d love to hear the secondary characters’ story, too. This definitely won’t be my last read by Helena.

If you’ve read any of the Until Series books by Aurora, you’ll know what I mean when I say the word ‘Boom!’ Oh boy, did July find her ‘boom’ in this story!

July is Asher and November Mayson’s eldest daughter. She is now all grown up and runs her own business. Wes and a couple of his friends got out of the military a couple of years ago, and after passing through the town, they decided to move and set up a shop there.

I loved how July and Wes met. July was mixing her love of bikes and caring for animals which was what caused her to have a little run in with a group of guys from one of the MC clubs in the town. July had to swerve to miss the animal in the road, causing her to nearly have an accident with these bikers. Armed with only her Taser to keep her safe, she ends up having few choice words with them after accidentally using it. This is where we first get to meet Wes. It all turns out he’s the man that July inadvertently used the weapon on is from the MC club!

Over a second chance meeting at her clinic where July is a vet, Wes arrives at the surgery to adopt a dog for security. The instant attraction she had for him when they first met is still there. So when he asks her out, she cannot deny this magnetic pull towards him, and takes him up on his offer. After a meal that didn’t go as planned, Wes takes a trip back to her place to find her. He gets that she’s not like any of the other girls he’s been with, and he know he definitely wants more.

It doesn’t take long though for trouble to start in the way of dog fighting and kidnapping!

The love that develops between these two is off the scale. This story definitely shows this and like I said, July certainly finds her ‘boom’ in Wes who’s strong, caring, loving, and oh yes… yummy! And who doesn’t like hot yummy biker, eh?

Quote: July ~ “Wes… he’s nothing like the men I’ve dated. None of them would ride a motorcycle, get a tattoo, or live a life where they picked up and move to another state because they liked the feel of a town they drove through. None of my exes made me feel as comfortable as Wes did. None of them made me feel the way Wes made me feel. Just one look from him had my skin feeling too hot and my belly dipping.”

Quote: Wes ~ “I know what love feels like, and the way it doesn’t change you, but makes you want to change yourself… to be worthy of the person you are with. I also know that no matter what I want to do in life, I will have a woman at my side to support me, and that says it all.”

Quote: Wes ~ “Never wanted much, babe, but knew the moment I looked into your eyes that I wanted you. Just didn’t think I’d ever have a shot. I promise I’ll find a way to make myself worthy of you.”

Loved this book and after meeting all July’s sisters and cousins, I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
