This is my first book by this author and I decided to jump in blind. I did not read the blurb because I wanted to be surprised and I definitely was.

Ezra is the local high school football and baseball coach, the town’s most eligible bachelor, he is quite the catch. He might be cocky but he has a heart of gold. His rapport with his pupils is top notch and he treats them equally. The day he knocked Raleigh off her feet and made her nose bleed will definitely change his life.

Raleigh is one of the new teachers in her local high school. She is a walking disaster, the queen of klutz and a frequent visitor in the ER. To say that she is clumsy is an understatement. She has had a long-standing crush on Ezra since they went to the same school but he never even knew she existed. She always felt invisible blending in the shadows but when she fell over and got a black eye and a nose bleed, she finally got Ezra’s attention.

Told in dual points of view, this contemporary romance is set in a small town where everybody knows everyone’s business. Raleigh’s mishaps and accidents were so legendary that I sometimes felt it was a borderline slapstick comedy. But the tender moments and steamy escapades between Ezra and Raleigh are swoon-worthy and although this romantic tale is meant to be light-hearted, there are some serious issues that were actually tackled in this book.

I am glad that Raleigh was able to connect and help out a bullied student. The way that Raleigh and Ezra addressed the bullying is inspiring and quite apt with what is happening in our schools today. The secondary characters especially Moira, Ezra’s little niece provided the comic relief; her innocent quips were hilarious it gave me some laugh-out-loud moments. Ezra and Raleigh’s romance does not only entertain, but is also inspiring and heart-warming. I am glad I got to read this book, Lani Lynn Vale is my new favourite and I am looking forward to reading more of her books.

This is the author’s debut novel and I am quite impressed with her writing style and the tight plot. This stunning standalone psychological suspense will blow you away.

Kevin and Jennifer together with their two children: twelve-year-old Liam and ten-year-old Sarah live an idyllic expat’s life in Dubai. A pampered lifestyle in an oil-rich country, it all seems perfect until the day Jennifer went shopping with her kids and lost one of them.

Told in first person narrative, Jennifer and Kevin’s biggest nightmare happens when their daughter Sarah was abducted. Dealing with the trauma, the cracks that have been slowly seeping through their marriage start to appear. Reading through this story, I thought that the author either did her research very well on the Middle East lifestyle or she has lived through the experience herself.

Having spent ten years of my life in the Middle East like the main character Jennifer, I felt like being thrown back in time. I had fond memories of my own when living that life and the author’s well-written account of these characters felt so real to me. The author captured the true essence of a wealthy Arab country that may have all the modern technology: state-of-the-art skyscrapers, man-made islands, hotels with gold ceilings etc., but when you dig deeper underneath all that glitter, there still remains a society where women are considered second class citizens and human rights are considered an indulgence.

There are so many harrowing moments in this tale, I got the goosebumps. That feeling of helplessness and frustration when dealing with the authorities and the betrayal within the family was also eloquently narrated by the author. The emotions I felt when reading Jennifer’s story made me want to reach inside my Kindle and strangle Kevin. However short secondary character Lieutenant Ahmed’s role was, he actually made a significant impact on the lives of the family. Jennifer’s courage and resilience shine through, especially in the second part of the book. This cautionary tale might bring you a lot of emotional turmoil: grief, heartbreak, betrayal, courage and closure, but it is definitely worth reading. I highly recommend it!

Excerpt

I watch my friend leaning back against the car as a small tear trickles down the side of her face. None of this has been easy … for anyone. The events are a stark reminder that life-changing events can happen to anyone at a moment’s notice. They are indiscriminate and uncaring. Melanie’s friendship over the past weeks has been unfailing. Without her steadfast support and guiding voice, I don’t think I could have survived the duplicitous game we were forced to play with our friends, family, and the media. The white lies and half-truths, all in an attempt to try to save Sarah, to get her home. All worthless and seemingly designed to protect everyone, except us and Sarah.
I look down to the jewelry box held tightly in my hands and close my eyes. I move the box up to my chest, letting it rest beside my ravaged heart. Somehow, throughout this ordeal, it has continued to beat. I gather strength from this and offer up a prayer to anyone who will listen, praying that Sarah’s heart beats as well. I need to believe it does. I’m not sure how I could survive if I found out otherwise.
Darkness has fallen completely when I open my eyes. Even with muted light being provided by the moon and stars, the desert appears limitless. But it’s the silence. The silence surrounds us; it envelops us.
I clutch my small part of Sarah with renewed vigor, not wanting to let her go. I need to get out of this place before the silence consumes me.

This is my second book by this author, a best friends-to-lovers romance with loads of funny banter between the main characters who can’t keep their hands off each other.

Lennox Marston aka Lenny is a psychologist and currently working as a “matchmaker” for an online dating company and also working as a therapist for veterans. Lenny is opinionated and strong-minded, her job is to give out advice but tends to ignore it when she gets one. And oh yes, she has also been in love with her best friend of twelve years, Gideon.

Gideon Lucas was a fullback in college when a sports-related injury cut short his dreams of being a pro and led him to become a sports agent. His drive to succeed propelled him and Mick, his business partner, to the top of their field. He and Lenny bonded in college, they are a perfect fit but somehow never crossed that line for fear of ruining their friendship.

Told in dual points of view, this is quite an entertaining albeit frustrating read at times. The problem with these two is that they have painted themselves into the friend-zone corner and neither knows how to take the next step. Gideon and Lenny’s interactions are akin to that of a couple dancing the sexual tango, going backwards and forwards, with lots of fancy footwork and always in sync. Most often she spends the night at his place, sleeps on his bed literally without the hanky panky of course because they are “just friends”. These two love each other that it is so obvious to those close to them and yet are oblivious to the other’s body language, for two intelligent individuals these pair can be a bit obtuse. The outcome is quite predictable but I loved the main characters’ passion for their jobs and their witty dialogue. This is a quick angst-free read and if I were you, I’d give it a go as I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!

DIARY OF A BAD BOY by Meghan Quinn is LIVE!

We are thrilled to be sharing Meghan Quinn’s all-new contemporary romance stand-alone,
DIARY OF A BAD BOY

#EnemiesToLovers #AgeGap #NYCromance #ForbiddenRomance #IrishAlpha

Dear Diary,

I might have gotten myself into a wee bit of trouble—and I’m not talking about the “court mandated community service,” or “therapy sessions from bashing a bloke in the head” kind of trouble.

I wish it were that simple.

Nope. I’m talking about the “falling in love with one of my client’s daughters,” kind of trouble . . .
The kind of problem I can’t talk my way out of when the truth gets out.

How I ended up with her phone is a long story—and when she called to get it back, I took things a bit too far. One innocent exchange wound up leading to so much more.

Fun, new, and totally immune to my charm, Sutton is different. And I had no idea she was the daughter of Foster Green.

Blame it on the dark colored stout running through my veins, pushing me toward one bad decision after another. Pushing me toward her even though I know right from wrong; even though she’s my client’s daughter.

Dating her might be the best or worst decision I’ve ever made. Only time, whiskey, and one more roll around the mattress with her will tell.

Once again this author never fails to amaze me with her endearing characters. This contemporary romance is one that will make you laugh and cry.

Roarke might be a hot head and more than enjoys his drink but through hard work, he has become a successful sports agent. At first, I wasn’t very impressed with this guy being a screw-up most times especially during the first half of the book. When he encounters Sutton, little did he know that she would change his life.

Sutton is the daughter of a popular sports hero Foster Green, Roarke’s client. Although she was born rich, she was brought up well by her father, she is down-to-earth and a hard worker. Her best friend constantly tells her to be a little less uptight and enjoy life more. When she meets Roarke, the ultimate bad boy he brings out the worst in her, testing her patience all the time. She might also be the best thing that could happen to him but he doesn’t know it yet.

This enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance was more than what I expected from the author and I was delighted. Roarke started out as a major jerk in the book but once you get to know him, you will want to reach out and give this Irish guy a big hug. His gruffness is a facade to hide his issues but thankfully Sutton is the perfect woman to draw out his other redeemable qualities. “I don’t know where you came from, but I don’t want to let you go.”

Roarke’s best friends Rath and Bram (from The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister), provide the emotional support that he needed but never got from his family. There are a few laugh-out-loud moments in this book courtesy of Bram and his comical disasters. Sutton is the sweet and somewhat innocent heroine who learns later on to be more grown up and handle a relationship. The other secondary characters add more substance and make this story an entertaining read. The ending is quite predictable but then who wouldn’t root for Roarke and Sutton’s happy ending? For a supposedly light-hearted romance, this book also packs an emotional punch that will leave you giddy, sad, happy and hopeful. This is a totally entertaining book and I promise you won’t be disappointed.

IRRESISTIBLE by Melanie Harlow is now available!

Today we are delighted to be on tour with  USA Today bestselling author Melanie Harlow’s all-new fun and swoony standalone, Irresistible

Irresistible FOR WEB.jpg

I’m a full-time single dad to three daughters and CFO at Cloverleigh Farms. I don’t have time to fall in love—I’m too busy trying to run a business, keep the red socks out of the white laundry, and get the damn pillowcases on without owing a dollar to the swear jar.

Sure, Frannie Sawyer is beautiful and sweet, but she’s twenty-seven, the boss’s daughter, and my new part-time nanny—which means she’s completely off-limits. It’s bad enough I can’t stop fantasizing about her, what kind of jerk would I be if I acted on the impulse to kiss her?

(Exactly the kind of jerk you’re thinking.)

Actually, I’m worse than that—because I didn’t stop with a kiss, and now I can’t stay away. She makes me feel like myself again. She reminds me what it’s like to want something just for me. She’s everything I ever needed, but nothing I ever imagined.

I’m a former Marine. I should have had the strength to resist her from the start.

But I didn’t. And now I have to choose between the life I want and the life she deserves.

Even if it means giving her up.

REVIEWED BY ANNA ON BEHALF OF kff

This is the first of a new series featuring a single dad and a nanny; a quick and fun read that isn’t loaded with angst, more light-hearted with lots of lovable characters.

Frannie Sawyer works at Cloverleigh Farms, a successful family-owned business. She is the youngest daughter but at the age of twenty-seven and still living with her parents, she’s starting to feel smothered. She is also a part-time nanny to Mack’s three young daughters and harboured a secret crush on Mack for ages although he seems to think she’s too young for him. Given that he’s ten years older and with a lot of baggage, her unrequited love seems doomed.

Declan MacAllister aka Mack is a recently divorced father of three girls. A former marine and now the Chief Financial Officer and Business Manager of Cloverleigh Farms, his hands are full single-handedly raising Millie, Felicity and Winifred. With the help of two nannies, one of them Frannie, he just about manages to get his job done and take care of his girls, too. He doesn’t have time for any relationships either. Even though he is very much interested in Frannie, he feels that she deserves someone better than him.

Mack and Frannie’s romance is full of easy and funny banter, dirty talk and sexy romps. Told in dual points of view, a single dad hooking up with the nanny sounds cliché but fear not, this book has more depth. As a father who is trying very hard to take care of his daughters, Mack is an exceptional dad but as a boyfriend, I felt he needed room for improvement. No wonder the poor bloke is overloaded with emotional baggage when his ex-wife dumped him and put all the blame on him for the failure of their marriage.

All throughout the book, I felt that Frannie was more emotionally invested whilst Mack only enjoyed their stealthy hook-ups and basically told her he’s not the one for her. For me, one of the highlights of this book is the girls’ relationship with their dad, how they coped with their mother’s abandonment and how they supported each other. It certainly makes for a very pleasant read. The hero and heroine’s love story takes a back seat for the girls’ smart talk, backchat and their adorable snarky attitude. Some characters from the author’s other books make cameo appearances which chuffed me to bits. I enjoyed reading Mack and Frannie’s love story and I am looking forward to reading the stories of Frannie’s older sisters: Chloe, April and Sylvia.

Wow, just wow! This book got me so pumped up I just couldn’t put it down. This is my first book by this author, I love her style of writing she had me on edge all the time.

When FBI rookie Ava Kanas’ mentor died, she was the only one who suspected there was more to his death than suicide. Her being new to the team, she knew she has not earned enough credible experience to be listened to but she doggedly pursued her theory. She is a tenacious and dedicated agent but still has to learn the ropes of being a team player. When she meets Dominic, there was a hint of interest in both parties but she has to put that aside; after all her career is more important than personal relationships.

FBI Supervisory Special Agent Dominic Sheridan comes from a political family with powerful connections that goes right up to the top, but he didn’t use all these to become a well-respected member of the agency. His strong work ethic and ability to negotiate in critical situations is what makes him a formidable force. When Ava joins the team he feels the need to protect her from her own stubbornness, she needs to toe the line if she wants to keep her job.

Packed with adrenaline-filled agents dodging bullets and dead bodies, it is a very well-written thriller of revenge and conspiracies. Ava and Dominic’s romance is not the full focus of the story but more of the FBI teams and their work, the hostage negotiations, forensic details and so much more. Although there were a lot of technical terms used in this book (a list of acronyms is included), the author wrote this suspense-filled tale that will make you guess whodunit right until the last chapter. I consider myself a big fan of crime thrillers and watch a lot of police drama and in my opinion, this author is at the top of her game. The sizzling romance between Ava and Dominic was slow-burn and worth the wait but the additional input of other major players in the FBI teams make this book a great read. I really enjoyed this white-knuckle rollercoaster ride and I highly recommend it.

Did she tell Dominic the truth and risk him sending her away? The thought of losing her job made her feel physically ill. But she wanted to be braver. She wanted to trust…Was he awake? She listened attentively for the sound of his breathing but she couldn’t hear a thing. Feeling slightly panicked that he’d left her here alone, she caught the bottom of the makeshift curtain and raised it high enough to see the man lying on his back, features softened in sleep. She stared, taking in the straight nose, thick brows and stubborn jaw. The bruises from the accident looked like darker shadows in this dusky twilight. His mouth was parted and she found herself wondering what it might be like to kiss him.He rolled onto the side facing her and suddenly opened his eyes.Ava froze, then whispered slowly, “I thought you might have left me behind…” She tried to swallow her mortification at being caught staring at him. The words revealed more than she wanted.

He reached out and touched her cheek, which was more or less healed now. “Still here, Kanas. Go back to sleep. It’s four AM.”

Her heart pounded crazily as she held his gaze. She should tell him about Gino. Confide the truth. He’d understand and wouldn’t send her away. His palm was so hot against her skin it burned. She wanted to get closer to that heat. The craving was so overwhelming it terrified her, paralyzed her.

He removed his hand with a slight smile that she could get used to and sleepily closed his eyes. Murmured, “Go to sleep, Ava.”

She lay there staring up at the ceiling, until dawn flooded the room with light. She didn’t sleep another wink.
