SYNOPSIS

Get ready to fall in love all over again—with self-discovery, handsome cowboys, and the unbreakable bonds of female friendship.

After losing her dream job in Austin, Savannah Dondi has to do the unthinkable—move back to her small hometown. Living minutes from her parents and working in her aunt’s beauty parlor isn’t exactly the glamorous life she had planned.
When she sees Hudson McAllister at the local rodeo, he’s even better than she remembered. Tall, lean, and clinging to a bucking horse. She only wishes she’d held onto him so tightly.

Her misguided feelings for Rhett Lane had ruined it then, and if she doesn’t stop herself from falling back in love with Rhett, he’ll come between her and Hudson this time too. Avoiding him in a small town will be hard, though. Especially since their best friends are in love.

A second chance with Hudson would make all her troubles worth it, but resisting Rhett might be more than Savannah bargained for.

What a breath of fresh air! My first book by this author, I was pleasantly surprised because I actually enjoyed reading this sweet NA romance. It feels like it’s been ages since I read one. There are no explicit sex scenes in this book and some characters have a come-to-Jesus moment the reason why I find this book refreshing and a welcome break from most books I’ve read recently.

Written in first person narrative, the story revolves around twenty two year old Savannah, a hairdresser who dreamt of a successful career in the big city but failed. She has no choice but to pack her bags and go back to her hometown, not looking forward to meeting the two men in her past, Hudson and Rhett. This is a love triangle involving two hot cowboys and a somewhat confused and indecisive young lady. There are times when I felt so frustrated with Savannah’s actions and the decisions she makes in life. Her best friend Cas always has her back though but when Cas’ life goes on a different direction from hers their friendship takes a nosedive. Oh to be young and not think of the consequences and feeling invincible. At first I was rooting for her to get back with Hudson but then there is also Rhett who she was involved with in the past.  I do feel for Savannah and her pain, I really do but girl, you need to put your big girl pants on and face the music.

I like the author’s writing style and the way her characters develop throughout the story. Her words perfectly portray the recklessness and vulnerability of youth, their imperfections and growth. And the author is quite brave in making one of her characters a devout Catholic because in these times when an author’s work implies a hint of spirituality it puts off a lot of romance loving readers. In fact throughout the whole book the author is quite consistent in her style without being too pushy about the subject, and I admire her for that. Hats off to you, Ms. Stelting!

If you are into love triangles, sexy cowboys and don’t mind the lack of torrid sex scenes, then I recommend you give this book a try. It’s worth a read!

Savannah has it all—a loving man, a new sister-in-law, a steadfast friend, and her dream job in Austin. She’s not where she wants to be, but she knows how to get there. There’s only a golden ring and several thousand dollars standing in her way.

After an almost-proposal and the loss of someone close to her, she’s less-than sure about her future. How can she convince the man she loves that she’s there to stay when everything he wants seems just out of reach?

Fall back in love with the characters you met in Unfair Catch, and get ready for a story that will make you smile, cry, and believe in unconditional love.

Wow! This book is one hell of a nail biting, stomach churning experience that I won’t forget for a long time. This story started a little bit slow during the first few chapters but soon picked up the pace and had me on edge the whole time. Every now and then I had to take a break from reading the harrowing story of Aislin.

Written from dual points of view the book starts with Niko as a detective who is still involved in the case of his missing childhood friend Aislin, kidnapped at age thirteen, on her way to school.  All through these years he never gave up looking for her and eventually influenced his choice of career. Fifteen years later he gets a phone call about a body discovered in the woods… heartbreak, loss, grief and revenge, these words are not enough to describe how he felt.

I sometimes wonder how these two authors come up with creating a monster that is sick and depraved and inflict a horrendous amount of pain to someone else. It takes a special kind of “talent” to make a reader cringe and get so emotionally involved in this book, a lot of WTFs were floating inside my head whilst reading Aislin’s gruesome ordeal.

I can’t give too many details on the main character’s experience as I don’t want to spoil the story but let me just say that when I thought I had it all figured out on the last quarter of the book I was wrong! This is a very well written tale that might give you nightmares and a few sleepless nights but is so worth it. There are some books you read that you’ll need a box of tissues, chocolates or a glass of wine. So it might not be a bad idea to have the whole bottle at hand while reading this book!

SYNOPSIS:

I fell in love with a boy a long time ago.

I was only a small girl. Scared and frightened, I was taken from my home and held against my will. His father hurt me, but he protected me and kept me safe as best he could.

Until I left him.

I ran the first chance I got and even though I knew he wasn’t behind me, I didn’t stop. The branches lashed out at me, punishing me for leaving him in the hands of a monster.

I’ve never felt such guilt in my life.

Although I survived, the boy was never found. I prayed for him to be safe. I dreamed he’d be alright and come back to me. Even as a young girl I knew I loved him, but I betrayed him.

Twenty years later, all my wishes came true.

But the boy came back a man. With a grip strong enough to keep me close and a look in his eyes that warned me to never dare leave him again. I was his to keep after all.

Twenty years after leaving one hell, I entered another. Our tale was only just getting started.

It’s dark and twisted.

But that doesn’t make it any less of what it is.

A psychological thriller/love triangle told in multiple points of view. It was a bit confusing at first because of the way the author narrated each character’s perspective but it gets better after the first quarter of the book. This story hooked me right from the start I couldn’t put it down but I was also worried on how Robin, Jay and John’s complicated romance would end.

This is a tale about Robin who was kidnapped as a child by Jay’s father. Jay was also held against his will by his abusive father. Jay helped Robin escape but Jay was left behind to face his father’s wrath. Fast forward to twenty years later and Robin is now a psychologist who still battles her inner demons and her past. Robin and Jay meet again but it gets complicated when John gets involved with the pair. John seems to be a straightforward character compared to Jay’s damaged psyche but Robin is caught between the two. Is it possible to fall in love with two people without suffering the consequences? Because of what happened to Jay and Robin’s horrific past they have this unbreakable bond that ties them together. So where does that leave John?

“The past can ruin a person forever. They may recover, but they’re never the same. Never what they once were. The scar may be thicker than delicate skin. It may protect you from some things and give you a wall to hide behind. But it’s the gentle things that will cut it open and leave you raw and wounded once again.”

This gripping tale of abuse and childhood trauma, healing and unconditional love is not one to be missed. I absolutely adore Jay’s character, his dark side and his ultimate sacrifice for Robin. And yet I also love John, dependable and uncomplicated and also deeply in love with Robin. I wish I could explain more about the main characters’ complex relationship but that would be giving away the story. You just have to trust me on this one and give it a go. I definitely would recommend this book to friends, so different and refreshing. Four stars for this nail-biting romance with a twist!

EXCERPT:

Robin
Twenty years ago

I’m so used to this room.  I don’t know how long it’s been, but I don’t bother to count the days anymore.  I don’t hope for Mama to come find me anymore.  I know it’s useless now, and it only makes me more upset.

The only solace I have is lying beside me.  I speak without thinking, just saying what’s on my mind to break up the silence in the cold room.
“I wish I were a bird.”  I blink at the faint light shining through the small window so high up on the cinder block wall.  “Then I could fly away.”  My voice lowers to nearly a whisper and I turn on the hard ground, facing the boy at my side.  I tuck my arm under my head and swallow the lump in my throat as I avoid his gaze.  It’s such a serious look in his light gray eyes.  I can hardly stand the chill that runs through me.

Some days I think he’s angry with me.  I can’t shake the thought that he hates me; that he hates being stuck here with me, both of us helpless and at the hands of his heartless father.

“Both of us.”  I clear my throat and chance a look up at him as I add, “I mean I wish we were both birds.”  I turn to gesture toward the far wall as I explain, “So we could fly through that window.”

The boy smiles at me, although I don’t think it’s genuine.  “But it’s closed,” he says in a voice so rough and low it makes goosebumps spread across my skin.  He clears his own throat, propping up his head in his hand and leaning on his elbow to look down at me.  My heart does a weird flip in my chest, fluttering when he leans closer to me.  I can feel the heat of his body.  He’s older than me.  He looks it, too.  I feel my cheeks heat with a blush and I look away, turning back to the window and pulling at the thin gown I have on.  It’s not enough to keep me warm down here and I know if I were just a bit closer to the boy, I’d be more comfortable, but I keep my distance.

“Well, what animal then?” I ask the boy, curling on my side and tucking both arms beneath my head.

He’s quiet for a moment, but then he answers, “A wolf could break it.”

I resist the urge to turn to face him, closing my eyes as they roll and a small smile forms on my lips.  A wolf could never fit through that window.

I decide to play along, feeling a warmth run through me as I hear him scoot closer to me.  He never touches me, but he likes to be close to me.  And I like it too although I don’t tell him.  “Well, you be a wolf and break the window, and I’ll be a bird.  Together we can run away.”

“I saw a wolf kill a bird once on TV,” he says, but the boy’s voice is devoid of emotion and the shock of what he said makes me turn to face him, sitting up and pulling my knees into my chest.

“Why would a wolf do that?”  I feel my brows pinch and my lips turn down; I know it’s obvious I’m horrified from what he said, and it only makes him laugh.

He shrugs his shoulders and picks at a spot on the concrete floor, a satisfied smirk on his lips.  Something about the look on his face makes my heart do that fluttering motion again and I find myself inching forward, my toes barely touching his thigh.  But we both notice that they touch.

“A wolf doesn’t have any reason to hurt a bird.”  I stare at him, but he still doesn’t look up at me.  “I don’t understand.”

The boy tilts his head to look at me and this time, the expression is something I’ve never seen before.  There’s a rawness in the light gray flecks, a heat on the outer edge where his eyes get darker.  Almost like a flicker of a flame giving his gaze an intensity that makes my body freeze, but not with a coldness, with a burning heat.

“I think he did it,” the boy starts to say, licking his lower lip and staring right through me, not caring that I can’t even breathe when he looks at me like that, “I think he did it just because he wanted to.”

AUTHOR’S BIO

I like my action hot and my bad boys hotter. And I don’t hold back on either one in my writing.  I’m so happy to be a #1 Contemporary Bestselling Romance Author. I’m so grateful and honored!  I actually started writing after having my little girl, Evie, December 2015. All during my pregnancy with her I read. I only wanted to read romance, and I read EVERYTHING. I would read a book a day — sometimes two.  In January 2016 I was staying up late with her and just thinking of all these stories.  They came to me constantly. And I finally sat down and just started writing. I always wanted to do it so I figured, why not? I never thought I would reach this point of success, to be honest. It’s insane to me that I have so many fans. And I love each and every one of them for all of their support.

I’m not a one-night stand kind of woman. I’m especially not the woman who has a few drinks at a concert and ends up in bed with my childhood celebrity crush, Eli Walsh.

However, that’s exactly where I find myself.

What’s a girl to do after a drunken mistake? Run. I grab my clothes and get away from the powerful, irresistible, and best-sex-of-my-life superstar as fast as I can. His gorgeous green eyes, rock-hard body, and cocky smile have no place in my world. My life is complicated enough.

Someone forgot to tell him that.

Eli is relentless. Pushing his way into my heart, wearing me down, proving he’s nothing like I assumed, and everything I need. But when my world shatters to pieces, he holds the broken bits together. Unwillingly, I fall desperately in love with him.

He made me think we’d have forever . . . I should’ve listened when he said we could only own tonight.

First you swoon and giggle, then you fall in love and then you feel that gut wrenching ache as you go through their story. Told from a dual point of view the romantic tale of Heather and Eli will carve your heart out, throw it on the ground and stomp on it.

Heather is a divorced police officer in her late 30s. She also takes care of her much younger sister, Steph who is seriously ill. Eli has always been her boy band idol since she and her friends were teenagers. When they get the tickets for Four Blocks Down’s homecoming concert (in which Eli and his older brother Randy are members), for the first time in many years Heather’s inner fan girl comes out screaming,  drawn out by liquid courage and egged on by her best friend. The banter between her close friends, Nicole, Danni and Kristin also makes this a fun read especially their antics.

I love the way Heather and Eli’s relationship developed. He pursues her because he couldn’t accept no for an answer, he took that as a challenge at first but then they become friends and got to know each other well in such a short time. Heather has a few issues though but Eli is quite determined. Will true love prevail between these two people?

“Everything is a contrast between wanting more from him and wanting things to end before it’s too late to walk away. I need him to leave but I’m desperate for him to stay.”

The story of Eli and Heather is hot and sexy, fast paced and includes very interesting and supportive secondary characters. If only life was that simple and everything is smooth sailing but like in real life this couple has to deal with loss, acceptance and hope. When Heather finds out Eli’s secret will she be able to forgive him? The author’s words will pull your heartstrings like a puppet.  Be warned, you need a box of tissues, chocolates and a few glasses of vino to get through their story.  4.5 stars for this book!

I have read previous books by this author including the Corps Security series and Hope Town series. Most of the main characters in Hope Town are the sons and daughters of the Corp Security guys. This book can be read as a standalone but it helps if you have read the author’s previous books from the same series.

There is something about the way Ms. Sloan writes her characters that makes you fall in love with them. Shane and Nikki are no exception. Nikki’s best friend is Ember who is married to Nate co-owner of Dirty Dog. Shane is Nate’s best friend and when Nate decided to open the Dirty Dog bar he asked Shane to be his business partner. I must say the idea of an Ugly Coyote style bar for the women of Hope Town is brilliant and offered a lot of interesting and fun scenes in this book.  Both Nikki and Shane have problems with their exes and after a year of trying to get rid of them they decided to have a pretend relationship to show their stalker exes that they have moved on. And this is where the fun begins.

I love Nikki’s strong character, her wit and chutzpah. She is independent, funny and can kick ass if needed. Shane is one wicked, sexy, hunk of a man but his previous relationships don’t last long because of his business. When these two met they were still involved with previous partners although they secretly were attracted to each other.  When they paired up it was all about lust but soon they realised it’s more than that. When lust turns to love will they finally get their happy ending? Will Shane fully give his trust to Nikki?

What I notice about this author’s style of writing is her way of building strong characters and the sex scenes are always sizzling hot. Reading about the other characters from previous books is like catching up with old friends, the banter made me laugh out loud. Nikki and Shane, Ember and Nate. This book is not only about the first two but their best friends are very much involved in their story it made it so much fun to read. Written in dual points of view, this light-hearted romance will warm your heart and set your knickers on fire.  I can’t wait for Shane’s younger sister, Libby’s story next. Bring it on, Ms. Sloan!

I rarely come across a love story where there are no bad guys or an evil ex out to ruin the couple’s perfect relationship. The real conflict in this book is the main character’s past and present self.

When I read how Jayson and Delaney met and how their relationship progressed from there I wasn’t that overly impressed. I thought they were just a pair of loved up druggies who couldn’t hold a decent job for long. What I do admire about this two is their undying love towards each other sober or not. And then Jayson had the accident and everything changed. He couldn’t remember his name he forgot about his past and Delaney. Having a new identity and finding new love and a second chance at life seems to be the best thing that happened to him. When he meets Kitty, someone who comes from a well connected family and with a good heart, I thought there’s his chance he better grab it and never let go.

Reading about this complicated love triangle gave me conflicting emotions towards Jayson, Delaney and Kitty. When Jayson/Jon had amnesia after the accident he actually grew up and sorted out his priorities.  Delaney a young woman in her twenties hasn’t got much to her name either but for Jay her love is unconditional and she is willing to sacrifice her own happiness for him to live his new life. “I love him. I love him so much. It’s like he’s dying all over again. Like I’m dying. God please help me. Help me get through this. Make him remember me, or make him go away, because I don’t know how much more of this I can take.”

This is a well written standalone story and gave my heart a real tug of war.  The author’s words weave a truly beautiful romance and makes you believe in true love and finding your soulmate no matter where or what you have become. Because when true love finds its counterpart, it always recognises it. It’s all in the muscle memory. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and give it 4 stars!
