Racer McKay is a broody bastard.

From the moment I met him, he’s been rude, irritable, and unbearable.

A contractor working to remodel my parents pool house for extra cash, he stomps around in those clunky construction boots with his tool belt wrapped around his narrow waist, and a chip on his shoulder.

Racer McKay is also infuriatingly . . . sexy as hell. I want to take that pencil tucked behind his ear, and draw lazy lines slowly up and down his body all the while wanting to strangle him at the same time.

We try to stay out of each other’s way . . . that is until I have no other option but to ask for his help.

But what I don’t realize is he needs me just as much as I need him. I have money he’s desperate for, and he holds the key to making my dreams come true.

Our pranks turn from sarcastic banter, to sexual tension and lust-filled glances. Bickering matches quickly morph into slow burn moments. We’re hot, we’re cold. We push and pull. I need him, I don’t want him. We’re on the verge of combusting with an agreement dangling dangerously between us. Neither one of us can afford to lose one another and yet, we’re finding it quite hard to decipher the line that rests between love and hate.

*Twisted Twosome is a stand alone romantic comedy.

If your eyes are still red and puffy from crying after you finished reading the latest heart-wrenching book, this is the perfect remedy for your book hangover.  A seriously funny story about Racer and Georgiana told in dual points of view. Seldom have I laughed out loud when reading romantic comedies and this one had me at every chapter.

Racer is a blue collar hero/knight-in-shining-armour and a male stripper by mistake (you’ll find out about this one on the first quarter of the book). He works for a construction company together with his close friends, Tucker and Aaron aka Smalls. He was raised by his father singlehandedly and was brought up with the motto: “Make mistakes, tell the worst truth rather than the best lie, love hard, and be the better man.”

Georgiana is the exact opposite of Racer. She was born rich, her dad is in politics and her mom is the typical socialite. Although Georgie comes from a privileged background she actually wants more to life than just shopping and going to parties looking for the perfect husband with matching social status. The first meeting between this two didn’t go down very well it was more like hate at first sight. Each one is not impressed with the other but they are forced to work together because both were desperate: she wants validation and he is broke. He thinks she’s a spoiled brat and she thinks he’s rude and bossy.

“Don’t be so stuck-up. I know it’s hard to dislodge the pole that was stuck up your ass when you were born, but with a little lube, we can shimmy it out.” He wiggles his eyebrows. “I don’t mind taking it out for you and replacing it with my good-time pole.”

Racer always tries to get the rise out of Georgiana and she always falls for it but she can also give as good as she gets.

“How about we just don’t make any noise? How does that sound? Hmm?”

“I can’t work in silence. It’s too boring. We could have a conversation, or will that be too difficult for you? Putting sentences together rather than talking like an ass-scratching ape?”

This pair’s snarky banter is hilarious it is verbal foreplay at its best. Their friends are as equally as funny too. What I like about the main characters is that even though they are from different backgrounds they have the same passion for work. Underneath Racer’s crude sense of humour and Georgiana’s high society image both are genuinely good people with kind hearts.  One of the funniest books I’ve read and yet also made me cry (a little bit, mind you). Step aside Christian Grey, I’d rather have Racer any time of the day! He’s got no issues, he’s sexy and can dance like a male stripper and good with his hands. Highly recommended! 5 stars!

*** Spoiler warning ***

Mila, Cole and Andrew. This is a story about three people but this is not your typical run-of-the-mill love triangle. Cole is an artist, he met Mila at a party thrown by her mentor. Mila is a successful businesswoman, she is strong, guarded and fierce. She was raised by her mother who reads tarot cards for a living. Andrew is Mila’s business colleague, he is her rock and provided her a shoulder to cry on at the lowest point in her life. He is her best friend but he also has more to his past.

The initial attraction between Mila and Cole was obvious right from the start, they date, fell in love and got engaged. They thought their strong bond was enough to resist temptation and withstand any opposition from families and friends but they were wrong. On the day they were supposed to get married Cole disappeared. Mila met Andrew that same day at a bar when she was drowning out her sorrows from being ditched at the altar.

Eight years on and Mila is now a very successful businesswoman and Andrew stuck by her side as her loyal best friend and as a work colleague. The sudden appearance of Cole throws her out on a loop. All these years she bitterly tried to forget what he did, she wanted nothing to do with him and yet she needs to know why it happened. And one night whilst hanging out with Andrew she sees him at a different light. Will she give Cole a chance to explain why he did what he did? Will she finally look at Andrew not only as her best friend but the man who she can spend the rest of her life with?

I am quite impressed with the author’s style of writing and how she weaves Cole’s art and incorporates it into this brilliant tale of drug addiction, betrayal, loyalty and friendship. Turning the first page is like looking at a blank canvas.  As you keep on flicking through the pages you see the author’s words turn into strokes, swirls and splatters of colours. By the end of the story you look at the whole finished product as a masterpiece, a work of art. Rarely does a book create such vivid imagery inside my head. Some of the sex scenes between Cole and Mila are visually stunning and memorable. I strongly urge you to read this book you surely don’t want to miss out on this one!

5 glittering stars for Ms. Larsen!

This is my first book by the author. Prince Brock is book 3 of Prince of Tease series but can be read as a standalone.

Now where do I start with this book? At first I wasn’t that keen on the author’s writing style. Written in dual points of view the inner dialogue of each main character that “talks” to the reader was a bit strange at first but I got used to it after a quarter of the way.

Brock is a male strip tease and the star of the show in the Castle an exclusive club owned by French Adams. He was “rescued” by French ten years ago and gave him a job. Even though they are attracted to each other they haven’t really acted on it for fear of complicating their working relationship. I love Brock’s character. He has some issues in the past although that’s not been offered in detail in this book. He’s got a big personality, can be arrogant but also protective of his friends and especially his boss, French.

French Adams was raised by her sociopath mother and only recently reconnected with her rich father. She is a successful businesswoman with dodgy connections but is very loyal to her friends and associates.

I am many things. Cold, callous, and calculated are just the ones that help people maintain their distance. Protective is the one that put my ass in this chair. Loyal is the one that made me stay. And love is the reason I’m risking my sanity.”

French’s relationship with her father was tenuous and non-existent at first but when she relented and spent the weekend with him in France to get to know each other in exchange for a favour, the wall she built to protect herself from bitter memories crumbled.

“You know French, it is no mystery why you are the way you are. Your walls are thick. Your attitude callous. Your stride impenetrable. All the things that make you, you, are nothing more than results from who we were once upon a time. But your humanity, your need to help others as you were never helped yourself is truly what makes you the most beautiful person I have ever met.”

If you are into books with lots of steamy sex scenes, minimum angst and a dollop or two of romantic moments featuring a strong, badass businesswoman as the heroine and a hero who is into R&B music and loves to read books, then this one is for you! I give this book 3.5 stars.

Title: Counting On You

Authors: J.C. Reed & Jackie Steele

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Release Date: 5th June, 2017

Full-length, standalone novel with no HEA! No cliffhanger! No series!

From New York Times Bestselling Author, J.C. Reed, and USA Today Bestselling author, Jackie Steele, comes a sexy, new standalone romantic comedy.

I have everything I want.
Success. Wealth. Women…and make that plenty of those. As a filthy-rich CEO, I would say I’m pretty much close to perfection. Except for that one weakness: I’m cocky as hell, and an irresistible magnet for women.

So when one tiny mistake lands me in hot waters with the investors, I have one hell of a choice to make:

Restore my reputation…
Or risk losing my company.

I’m a man of my word and failure is not an option. Not now. Not ever. I fully intend to uphold my responsibilities.

Sharing an apartment should be easy, right? And it’s only for six weeks.
That’s what I thought before I found out that my new roommate is female.
And wow.
Vicky Sullivan is unlike any woman I’ve ever met.
She’s hot as sin, and crazy.
Definitely not my kind of crazy, but too hot to pass up.
There’s something about her that makes me rage with want.
I don’t like her, but obviously my dick does. And what he wants, he gets.

Six weeks…
Living together shouldn’t be too hard…
Until my best friend challenges me to a bet…
I make it my mission to make her mine.

There’s only one problem.
I have to break…Every. Single. Rule.
And did I mention she’s completely off-limits?

It’s too late to say no.

This is a story about two people who met at a rehab programme. One is a love addict and the other is a sex addict.

Kaiden Wright is a successful CEO with a six-pack abs. He is not into relationships and definitely no repeats. He came up with the idea of a 365-day non-stop sex calendar which landed him in hot water with his company and the reason why he ended up in a six weeks rehab programme.

“I aim to please, and I aim to return the favour, but I don’t do commitment. Not once, not twice. Never. The mere thought of a woman asking for my phone number causes my entire body to break out in a cold sweat.”

Vicky Sullivan is a nurse who works in a nursing home. She is in love with Bruce who keeps their relationship a secret from his family. She is totally blind to his shortcomings and strings her along and she just went with it. Her obsession and violating a restraining order forced her to join the rehab programme where she meets Kaiden for the first time when he is stark naked! And yes, they share an apartment and apparently the programme thinks it’s a clever idea to partner a sex addict with a love addict. And this is where the fun begins for these two characters.

I must admit I didn’t like Vicky’s character. She was weak, deluded and a total sap. For someone who is a professional nurse in her mid 20s she is so naive especially when she has unprotected sex with Kade knowing he is a sex addict! Her only redeemable moment was when she finally realises that her boyfriend Bruce was not the man she thought he was. It took a “Dear Vicky” letter from him to wake her up from La La Land though.

I really like Kaiden’s character. Even when he is in his sex machine mode, he is more intuitive than our female character. He prefers one night stands to relationships and he is honest about it.

The first half of this book was a bit slow for me but it picks up after 60% when Vicky and Kade learn more about each other. In the six weeks together in rehab they had fun and they have their tender moments too with him always reminding her that they are just roomies with benefits but is it really? When something happens to one of the characters at the last quarter of the story I felt like it was written as add-on angst but it’s not a bad thing if you like some drama in a book.  I rate this book 4 stars!

As the sole guardian of his four-year-old sister, August must rely on his Marine training in raising a tiny hellion who’s as stubborn as he is. But the Corps could never prepare him for this. Nor could they prepare him for Olivia Anders, a woman who’ll stop at nothing to get her way.

As owner of Paws for Cause, Olivia is no stranger to the broken men and women who return home from war. She’s no stranger to broken dogs either. In fact, she’s made it her mission to pair the two and enrich both of their lives, but pairing ornery and aloof August Cotton will take some work. The last thing August wants is some pushy southern woman occupying his parents’ bed and breakfast and forcing him to open up about the hell he narrowly escaped, but that’s exactly what Olivia intends.

They complete one another, and yet they can’t stand to be in the same room.

Can Olivia make this hardened Marine feel again and finally show his heart the way back home?

I climb off the bike and slowly push it up the drive before abandoning it in the graveyard of broken mowers, tractor parts, and cars that make up the Cottons’ garage. I’m stalling. I know this. I know that he didn’t mean to hurt me. It was my mistake—I screwed up. I ache all over, and I want to just melt into a hot bath, but the second I walk in the door August is there, towering before me.

“Olivia,” he says. His eyes are red-rimmed, bloodshot, and stricken.

“No.” I shake my head and step back. I’m afraid if I let him apologize, if I don’t walk away now he’ll see between the cracks. He’ll discover why my arms are scarred. He’ll find that darkness within me, and I won’t know how to put it all back inside. I won’t be able to reel in the thread that’s unraveling from my center, promising to smother all that’s good like so much black tar and sorrow. “I can’t. Not tonight.”

“I’m so sorry. I feel sick to my stomach.”

“I can’t do this now,” I say more firmly, pushing past.

“Olivia, please?” August grabs my arms, drawing me against him. I struggle in his grasp, but it’s useless.

“Don’t touch me!” Tears spill over my eyes, and I shut my lids against the pain that feels as if it will tear me in two. “Let me go, please?”

This story is about August Cotton, an ex-Marine who was severely wounded during his tour in Afghanistan. He could not cope and decided to stay away from his family and wanders around the country chasing his demons. He receives a phone call and finds out his parents died from a car crash leaving his much younger sister all alone. Reluctantly he goes home to take care of Bettina, the precocious four year old girl with an adorable lisp.

Then we meet Olivia Anders the owner of Paws for Cause, a charity that rescues dogs from shelters and train them as support dogs for vets with PTSD. Olivia comes across as a very strong and stubborn woman but underneath that tough facade is a broken past and her aim is to fix as many people and animals as she can. Olivia is very passionate and single-minded with her project but when she gets to know more about August she can’t help but fall in love with him. The heart wants what the heart wants, right?

The main focus of the book is about Olivia’s project: giving rescued dogs and veterans with PTSDs a second chance in life and how to deal with mental illness. Starting a project in a small town that turns a blind eye on veterans doesn’t make Olivia’s cause very popular. It’s an uphill struggle for her and the attraction between her and August slowly simmers. Their first meeting didn’t go down very well, sharing a mutual dislike for each other but every day they spend working together draws them closer.

The other characters:  Bettina, Josiah, Beau, Dalton, Jude du Pont, Betty the piglet, Zora an ex Military Working Dog and Xena one of the support dogs Olivia trained, make a very interesting and lively menagerie for August and Olivia.

This book is all about second chances not only for the main characters but also for those around them. Olivia managed to turn her life around and help others. August not only lost his left leg during his tour in Afghanistan but he also lost his parents in a car accident. Because of his past he thinks he is not worthy of a second chance. Will Olivia be able to convince him that he deserves a second go in life or will she realise that there are things you just can’t fix?

I have always liked the author’s style of writing. Her characters are so real and well developed, each page you turn you see them growing larger than life. And when she gives you a strong heroine, a damaged hero, a sassy four year old, a piglet, rescue dogs, an insight on mental illness and a very worthy cause, I can’t help but give this book 5 stars!

Title: Captain

Release Date: May 15, 2017
From, Lauren Rowe, the USA Today and International
bestselling author of The Club Series and Ball Peen Hammer comes a sexy standalone romance: Captain.

It wasn’t the way this kind of story was supposed to go . . .

Insta-love isn’t supposed to turn into insta-hate.

But that’s exactly what happened when the hot-as-hell dreamboat I met in a bar
turned out to be a lying, cheating scumbag-player-douche looking for nothing
but a little side action. Jerk.

And he has the nerve to call me a liar and a “sociopath”? Assh*le.

And now, three months later, through a mind-blowing series of events I couldn’t
have predicted in a million years, it turns out my boss is marrying his sister
in Hawaii and I’ve got to play nice with him for an entire freaking week.

Okay, sure, I’ll put on a happy face this week and act like I’ve never even met
the jerk before–did I mention his sister is marrying my boss?–but that
doesn’t mean I’ll like it. And it certainly doesn’t mean I’ll stop secretly
hating the cocky bastard’s guts.

Because I do.

I hate him.

I really do.

I just wish my brain would explain the situation to my body . . . because every
time he flashes that panty-melting smile at me, it takes all my self-restraint
not to jump the bastard’s hot-as-f*ck bones.

~ 4.5 Stars ~

This is the first book I’ve read by author Lauren Rowe, a standalone sexy romance with a lot of funny moments. The characters are also featured in other books which I haven’t read yet.

The two main characters are Ryan Morgan aka Captain and Tessa Rodriguez aka T-Rod. There are a lot of secondary characters which can be confusing especially the Morgan clan. So we have the Morgan siblings: Eldest son, Colby aka Cheese, second son Ryan, then we have Kat, the only girl in the family, Keane a former baseball player turned male stripper and the youngest of the brood is Dax, future rock star.

Tessa works for Josh who is Ryan’s soon to be brother-in-law. Ryan and Tessa meet in a bar without realising that both are somehow connected. Is it love or lust at first sight? But something happens that night that leads Ryan into a merry chase with Tessa.

I must be honest I found the first few chapters a bit slow but after getting into a few more chapters I was hooked. Ryan and Tessa are hilarious at times. The banter between these two just made me giggle and the Morgan family rooting for them are so much fun to read.

“Fuck if I know!” she shrieks. “I’ve done nothing! I’ve said nothing! I’ve been my usual, boring potted-plant self around them at all times. I have no freaking idea why they’re both utterly convinced I’m some kind of beacon of wonderfulness who’s destined to incubate your babies!”

Half of the story is set in Hawaii for Josh and Kat’s wedding where the Morgan clan and Josh’s brother Jonah, their friends and frat brothers all in attendance. Imagine this: the backdrop of Maui combined with a lot of testosterone hotness of the Morgan brothers and their equally as hot friends and future in-laws plus the sizzling sex scenes between the two main characters.

This author gives you the total package in Ryan. Tatted and pierced, quotes lines from Moby Dick and is so romantic he will make you swoon:

“Baby, I’ve loved you from the minute I laid eyes on you.” I swallow hard. “You’re my fate. My destiny. And I knew it the minute I saw you.” A lump rises in my throat. “Tessa, my love for you is involuntary. You’re my “kick” when the doctor bangs on my knee with a hammer. I’ve got no choice but to love you.”

When you are recovering from a book funk or just finished a dark story then this angst-free light-hearted romance of Tessa and Ryan is the perfect book to follow through. And I definitely would look up the other characters and read their stories. 4.5 stars from me!

A cute romantic comedy set in Aspen. This is the first book I have read by the author and the first few pages caught my interest right from the start.

Mara is a veterinarian who just moved to Aspen for her new job. She has a dog named Tapper, a three-footed wonder dog and two psychotic cats named Fred and George. I like Mara’s character. She is honest and loves her animals although apparently she hates horses. Oh, and yes she has no filter as well. “Sorry about the biting. I didn’t want to scare the dogs by screaming your name and having it echo over the mountains. The hills are alive with Mara’s orgasm and all that jazz”. I love this woman! She has so many foot-in-mouth moments that made me smile and giggle throughout the book.

Meet Jesse, he works in the slopes of Aspen and is one of the guys in the ski patrol team keeping the area safe. His dog Fern also works for the ski patrol and her job is mainly to search for people buried in an avalanche. Jesse is the loner type and trusts his dog more than humans. Losing a family member from an accident made him more the way he is now.

Jesse and Mara first met when she had a panic attack on the ski slope and Jesse had to “rescue” her. It turns out that this isn’t their first meeting. They actually first met two years ago when Mara and her friends went vacationing in Aspen, she got drunk, danced on the bar as a dare and fell on Jesse. She thought they had a one night stand but could not remember. They pretend to not recognise each other on the ski slope.

The relationship between these two is a slow burn, they did kiss but it shows that it’s not insta-love. There was attraction at first sight obviously but they took their time. It’s actually refreshing to read a romance story and the main characters do not engage in sex scenes on the first half of the book. And when the main characters have very interesting pets, it’s a sure fire formula for an engaging romantic comedy. I like this author’s style a lot.  I would highly recommend this book to friends. 4.5 stars from me!

“I’m paid to be a nice guy.” He gives me a sweet smile while his eyes shine with mischief.

“You’re only nice when you’re being paid?” I squint at him with distrust.

“You make me sound like a male escort.” His smile falters but the mischievous spark doesn’t fade.

“Your words not mine.”

“Better than a stripper. At least I don’t have to prance around on stage in a thong.” He chuckles.

But I’m not laughing.

The word echoes around in my head as a strong sense of déjà vu hits me smack in the face.

Me dancing on a bar in a short, silver dress. Me practically showing off the goods to a crowd of cheering men.

Oh no. Oh shit. Friends, we have a problem.

My savior isn’t prince charming.

No, I’m not that lucky.

He’s my worst nightmare.

He’s my one night stand from two years ago.
