We finally get the last instalment of Beth and Carter’s epic love story and I was not disappointed, in fact, it went beyond my expectations! And I am definitely sure you will be blown away with the ending. Book two finished with Beth agreeing to marry Duke. And this book starts on the day of Beth’s wedding. The events that followed after changed the course of her life; one can only hope it’s for the better.
Carter all throughout the first quarter of the book wallowed in his pain trying to forget Beth but it drove him deeper into depression. Well, it doesn’t really help when he skulks at the back of the church waiting to see the woman he loves get married to someone else. Although he eventually finds his way back into her arms there are still problems that need to be dealt with.
Written in dual points of view, this book is more about Beth’s emotional maturity. It highlights her character growing a spine and a pair of balls that she ultimately becomes the woman she always wanted to be: free and independent! And what a stunning transformation it is seeing her drive and her passion develops into something that inspires people. Her work reflects her beautiful soul. I love it when the heroine grows into a formidable character without the help of a man; she does it her own way.
“Failure isn’t a terminal condition. If you want something badly enough, you’ll keep going until you have it or until you learn it’s not for you. But if you’re not willing to risk the climb, you can’t complain when you never reach the summit.”
The stumbling block between Carter and Beth’s happy ending gave me heart palpitations and I wondered how the author will address the issue because it was borderline taboo. But fear not, Ms. Allen found a loophole and I was chuffed to bits with how she circumvented the elephant in the room, yay!
The pacing of the story, especially in the last half, is full of suspense that will leave you breathless. So many secrets were uncovered it’s like an archaeologist’s dream and the hodgepodge of antagonists that caused all their problems is dealt with. Beth and Carter’s story is full of heartbreak and hope, of treachery and vengeance, of justice and forgiveness. They have come full circle and it is a strong and binding one.
“The strongest armor any of us have is the love we give ourselves. Nothing can defeat you once you have that in place.”
I am sad that this is the final instalment of the trilogy but also delighted that I get to share their remarkable journey into happy ever after. I highly recommend this book!
