Today we are so excited to be sharing New York Times bestselling author Louise Bay’s all-new contemporary romance stand-alone, MR. MAYFAIR
It should be the most shocking news I’d ever gotten—My boyfriend is getting married.
Okay, technically he’s my ex-boyfriend. Two months ago he decided he wanted a break. I still thought he was my happily ever after.
On any other day, knowing he was gone for good would be the worst thing that could possibly happen. But not today. Because not only is my boyfriend getting married—his bride is my best friend. And they’ve sent me an invitation.
There’s no way I’m going to attend. I don’t care if it’s in beautiful Scotland.
Nothing and no one could convince me.
Not even when a deliciously handsome stranger tells me he needs to go as my plus one.
Not even when he shoots me a wickedly, sexy smile.
But then he offers me the opportunity of a lifetime—a dream come true. How can I say no?
But I have one condition. He has to be my new boyfriend. I mean, my pretend new boyfriend.
I’m about to find out that faking it can be a whole lot of fun.

Stella London should be shocked by the fact that her boyfriend’s getting married; however, he is actually now her ex-boyfriend. He took a break two months ago but she still thought he was her happily ever after. Especially as they had been a couple for seven years and she had moved to London from Manchester, giving up her dream to be with him. What a douche! Poor Stella receives an invitation to the week-long nuptials in Scotland and discovers the bride to be is her best friend Karen since the age of five. She has no intention of attending even if it’s taking place in a beautiful setting.
When a handsome stranger offers her a dream of a lifetime accompanying him to Scotland, she has a condition; go as her new boyfriend. In fact, more pretend than new but lets not split hairs over the dynamics and the whys and wherefores. Stella’s just about to see what it’s going to be.
‘I don’t need a boyfriend. I just need to look like I have a boyfriend. It’s strictly a business deal.’
Becks Wilde is a very successful property developer in Mayfair but he has to seal a deal which could otherwise cause all sorts of problems on so many levels. He discovers the key to his success of a business transaction is going to a wedding in Scotland and does his homework to find out his way in. He discovers Stella is that person and he makes her an offer of a lifetime to get what he wants. Although he bends to Stella’s conditions, Becks doesn’t have time for girlfriends. He just has the occasional hookup, so this fake relationship is all new to him.
Wow, the fake relationship trope was a great read to see unfold. There is lots of chemistry and steam aplenty. Bay does what she does best and creates a hot alpha to swoon over because even though Becks lives a certain way, I could see there were layers to uncover and boy, did I fall for him in a big way. There is a vulnerability about him I didn’t expect as we find out about his past. Stella had been betrayed in the worst possible way and while at times she infuriated me by letting people walk all over…namely her ex, I could see with the right guidance she was actually quite ballsy.
Mr. Mayfair has some fantastic side characters in the form of Becks’ friends and the banter they have, especially down their local pub each Sunday evening was amazing. Stella’s good friend Florence supports her in a time of need, putting herself and partner Gordy in the middle of the fiasco at the Scotland wedding.
I highly recommend this read. It’s so enjoyable, has everything from great characters to a couple of villains. Flowing well, you’ll have to read to find out if things pan out the way you want them to in this story full of passion and betrayal. Bravo Ms Bay! A great book that had everything I wanted through my reading experience.
USA Today bestselling author, Louise Bay writes sexy, contemporary romance novels – the kind she likes to read. Her books include the novels Faithful (not currently on sale as undergoing maintenance!), Hopeful, The Empire State Series, The Royals Series and The Nights Series (both series of standalones books each following different characters).
Ruined by romantic mini-series of the eighties, Louise loves all things romantic. There’s not enough of it in real life so she disappears into the fictional worlds in books and films. Louise loves the rain, The West Wing, London, days when she doesn’t have to wear make-up, being on her own, being with friends, elephants, and champagne. She loves to hear from readers so get in touch!
