Forbidden fruit never tasted this sweet…
The world knows Samantha Brooks as the violin prodigy. She guards her secret truth—the desire she harbors for her guardian.
Liam North got custody of her six years ago. She’s all grown up now, but he still treats her like a child. No matter how much he wants her.
No matter how bad he aches for one taste.
Her sweet overtures break down the ex-soldier’s defenses, but there’s more at stake than her body. Every touch, every kiss, every night. The closer she gets, the more exposed his darkest secret.
She’s one step away from finding out what happened the night she lost her family. One step away from leaving him forever.
Continue the North Security trilogy with CONCERTO #2
The spotlight lands on Samantha Brooks. Years of practice build to the opening night of a global tour. She plays her heart out, but there are darker forces underneath the stage.
There are eyes watching from the wings.
Liam North fights to keep her safe with every weapon he owns. She’s his greatest pride—and his greatest weakness. The danger comes from somewhere no one expected. Betrayal threatens to destroy everything he’s built. His business. His family. His life.
When the curtain falls, only one of them will be left standing.

I can’t remember the last instalment of a trilogy making me feel so anxious in a long while. But that’s Warren for you; she a master at winding her readers up in the best possible way. She got me ridiculously hooked from the very first line in Overture and wasn’t going to let me off it until the last page was turned in Sonata. What a read and what a send-off, ladies! Fast-paced, intriguing characters and a storyline like no other kept me guessing what the next pivotal moment would be. In every book the author sowed seeds of doubt and I blinking well loved it. And the narrative isn’t just compelling, it’s mind-blowing.
‘Only when I see her can I breathe again.’
When Samantha Brookes was able to take control of her life and prove she was capable of living without the security Liam North had given her since childhood, she flew the nest. No longer her legal guardian, Liam’s feelings for his ward cause unrest. He’d watched her grow into a beautiful young woman but deep down, Samantha’s heart is tied to his like the strings on the violin she plays are tied to its wooden bridge. After a close call, there’s no option but to learn what the true definition of sacrifice really means.
‘I’ve always been at the mercy of men.’
Liam put his life on the line for Samantha and would do it again if necessary. Nothing will stop him from keeping her safe. His sole objective is getting to the bottom of it all which I might add, had me sitting on the edge of my seat. Clues there are. Help and unquestionable loyalty from the team—his brothers, he has. It’s just putting the pieces together. Liam. Goodness me, I thought I’d fallen for him in the previous books. Nope, now he owns my heart lock, stock and barrel.
‘I’m fighting a formless enemy—the past.’
I felt strongly about Liam not being happy with Samantha. I thought his attitude unfair, seeing that the choice was hers to make and I, personally, would have done exactly the same. I’m convinced it upset him more because he had no say in the matter. One of Warren’s writing talents is how she conveys her characters’ emotional swings that the reader can easily discern.
‘She’s beauty in a world of violence. Without music, there’s no point fighting a war.’
Another thing I really liked after what had happened was their lives took a one hundred and eighty-degree turn. Liam gradually opens up to Samantha. She’s a good listener, knows when to hold her tongue and so very perceptive. Get your tissues ready here gals, it is heartbreaking.
She’d stopped practising her instrument daily for a comprehensible reason until, of course, something convinces her otherwise. Yeap, the Samantha I knew before the tragedy has now come into her own, is stronger and ready to face the music come what may.
‘Love isn’t a weakness, Liam. Look at me. I’m strong because of you…’
Ooh my, the chemistry accelerates to allegro, pitching a harmonic cadence like no other. Decadently written in its utter perfection, I was more than ready for them to move forward; for Liam to break down that moral barrier he’d built so high and give in to his true feelings.
“I’m tired of being your punishment, Liam North. Make me something else. Show me what it would be like if you took what you wanted, no guilt, no regrets. If you did anything to me. No restraint.”
Loved, loved, loved Josh and Bethany’s unexpected and shortish account. His sarcasm was most welcome and ooh boy, has he got a dirty mind or what! Hers is a real eye-opener and I can’t tell you how happy I am that they’ll be getting their own book towards the end of October.
I devoured this novel in record time and then ran to my pc at daft o’clock to write down my raging thoughts. The conclusion to the North Security Series came to its crescendo ending, leaving my heart singing. Warren’s delivered a unique masterpiece. Angst-ridden drama evoking all the feels and scene after gripping scene had me rereading the passages. The musical trivia at the beginning of each chapter not only did I find fascinating, but also highlighted the immaculate research done for the entire trilogy. Warren’s style cannot be ignored and I can’t thank her enough for giving me abounding reading pleasure. Bravo!
