THE DUETS

Gripping, heart-stopping, and an incredibly epic journey with a twist you’ll never see coming. USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn, brings you a modern take on an old fashion romance that will leave you breathless and wanting more.

This isn’t a story about a love triangle. There is no triangle involved.
This isn’t a story about an accidental pregnancy. Although having a baby with her . . . I would.
This isn’t a story about lies and deception, even though at times I’ve lied to myself.

No, this is my story.

A story about sacrifice.
A story about a man who fell in love with the wrong girl.
A story I wish I never had to tell.
I learned a long damn time ago, the only way to achieve my dreams was to avoid distractions—at any cost.

But all it took was one single night. One night and my entire life…changed.

One night had me colliding head first with the biggest distraction of my life; Rory Oaks. Smart. Charming. Beautiful. Rory changed everything.

Quickly, my one-track mind, my goals started to bend.

Each kiss faded decade-long dreams.

And with one single interaction, I flew off course.

BOX SET of FOUR BOOKS
The Upside of Falling
The Downside of Love
The Left Side of Perfect
The Right Side of Forever

Head turned down, pushing the sleeves of his white Henley up his arms, he swaggers toward me. His jeans hang low on his hips, held up by the same brown belt he wore the other night. His narrow waist directs my eyes to the center of his jeans, and I can’t help wonder what might be behind the crotch of his pants. And then there is his chest. Barrel like, broad and prominent. His thick biceps showcase his strength, and the fabric of his shirt stretches over his shoulders and forearms. Having spent a lot of time at the gym, I’ve seen every body type, but Colby’s is different. He’s strong, built, but not like a body builder. His body seems to suggest the only kind of weight he’s been lifting is his own body, pushup after pushup. I can’t imagine there being barbells in his workouts, but I can imagine logs, cadets, and heavy machinery. He has working muscles, the kind you earn from hard, dedicated work on the field. In a word? Impressive.

Walking up to Stryder, he grips his friend’s shoulder and says something into his ear. A smirk crosses Stryder’s face before he moves over to our side of the bowling alley and takes Colby’s place.

Is he leaving? Already?

Might as well at this point. It’s not like he’s going to talk to me, not after my pathetic attempt at a bet. I should have known I was going to hang out in the gutter all night. It’s where I usually am when I’m bowling. I blame the ball. The thing has a vendetta against me.

Sighing, I prop my chin in my hand and watch Stryder expertly toss his ball down the lane, getting a strike . . . once again. And just like every other strike, he pumps his arm up in the air and celebrates. We get it, you’re good, no need to—

“Hey.”

That voice . . .

Stunned, eyes wide, not able to move, not wanting to scare him away, I keep my eyes trained forward, soaking in that beautifully deep voice of his for a brief moment before saying, “Hey.”

“Can I sit here?”

Still keeping my eyes trained forward, I say, “Sure.”

My body tingles with awareness of how close he is to me, that fresh laundry scent invading my senses, prickling the little hairs on my arm. My body leans toward his, wanting a little more, searching for anything else he might give me. I don’t know why he’s choosing to engage me in conversation, but I’m sure as hell not moving while he does.

“Sorry about tonight,” he says and he actually sounds sincere.

“Why are you sorry?” I mumble.

Reaching around, he takes my cheek in his hand. The callouses on his palm rubbing against my skin is a welcome sensation. As I’m turned toward him, I steady my breathing. I’m having a hard time slowing my heart rate because of his close proximity, and the unexpected touch shooting a wave of heat through my veins.

“I’m sorry you didn’t get to ask me any questions. I didn’t think you were going to suck that bad.” A playful smile tugs at his lips, and my heart sinks to the floor. Oh God, he’s so gorgeous, especially when he smiles.

Matching his smirk, I say, “I didn’t think I was going to suck that bad either.”

“I feel bad.”

“You should.” That garners a laugh, deep and throaty, the sound cloaking me like a shield, protecting me from the outside world, bringing me into a little bubble where we are the only two that exist.

“Ask me a question.”

Shocked, I swallow hard and say, “Really?”

He nods and holds up his fingers. “You get three.”

“Oh, three? Wow, I feel like you just gave me the key to your soul.”

Rolling his eyes, he adjusts his stance on the barstool and leans back, giving us some space, our knees still knocking into each other. “Easy killer; it’s just three questions.”

“Yeah, three questions I didn’t have before.” Tapping my chin, I try to think of good questions, but now that I have him willing and waiting, nothing comes to mind. I wasn’t prepared for this, he caught me off-guard, and now I feel I can’t be strategic about my probing. “Hmm . . . what do you like to do on the weekends?”

“Jump,” he answers.

Searching his eyes, lips quirked, I say, “Uh, you’re going to have to be more specific than that. What kind of jumping are we talking here? Like jump roping? Because that seems kind of weird to do on the weekends, and if you tell me you’re in some kind of jump-roping club at the academy, I’m not going to believe you.”

His lips curve up as he scratches the side of his jaw. “Jump out of airplanes.”

Oh.

Oh.

That’s . . .

Uh, that’s really hot.

“So you just casually jump out of airplanes?”

“I’m part of the Wings of Blue, the academy’s parachute team. We jump every day, at least two to three times a day after class and before dinner, depending on wind and ceiling limits. On the weekends, some of the guys, including Stryder and me, go to Springs East Airport and do civilian jumps. The more jumps we get in, the higher the chance we’ll be considered for big demonstrations, like parachuting into football games and major sporting events for the Rockies and Broncos.” Ummmm. Did anyone else just hear how many words he gifted me? And seriously? Does the man have no clue how incredibly sexy he is when he talks about something he loves? The expression on his face . . .

“Wow, that’s . . . that’s really hot.” I chuckle. “Sorry, I don’t mean to fangirl over your parachuting, but I guess I wasn’t expecting that answer. You just jump out of planes?”

He slowly nods. “Every day.”

“Anything to get you up in the clouds, huh?”

“Yeah,” he answers shyly, rubbing his jaw. “Okay, next question.”

Christmas In Evergreen: Letters to Santa

The closer she got to Evergreen, the heavier the snow. That added to Lisa’s happiness. Maybe there would be a snow angel in her future. She hadn’t made one since… It had definitely been way too long.

She took the Evergreen exit from the highway, reducing her speed on the quaint country road while still belting out fa-la-la-la-las. Up ahead, a red truck with pine trees in the back stood at the stop sign. She pulled up behind it. After a moment, when the truck hadn’t budged, she rolled her window down and peered around it. That’s when she realized the hood of the truck was up.

Aw, man. She leaned her head out the window. “Are you having trouble with your truck?” “It’s not my truck,” a man’s voice said. What kind of answer was that? “Is it stolen?” A dark-haired man with what looked like a day’s

Nancy Naigle

worth of beard poked his head around the truck. “No. It’s on loan from a friend,” he said with a smile. A very attractive smile, Lisa couldn’t help but notice.

The truck had to be an early ’50s model. Nice. She could’ve done without the gaudy wreath on the back, but it was a sweet ride. Who loaned that kind of vehicle to someone? They must’ve been a pretty good friend.

She didn’t know why she had the urge to tease him, but she gave in to it. “Ohhh,” she said with an exaggerated moan. “You broke your friend’s truck?”

That got a reaction out of the guy. He stepped out from the front of the truck, looking on the defensive. “I didn’t break it, it was already…”

Lisa almost grinned, nearly breaking the ruse, then frowned in an attempt to look serious. “Hey, it looks to me like it—”

He shook his wrench in her direction. “You’re just messing with me.” His smile registered in his eyes as he laughed.

Busted. “I am. I am.” She flung open her door and got out. “No. Seriously. Can I do something to help?” He eyed her cautiously as he wiped his hands on a red shop rag. He was wearing a green down jacket, and he didn’t seem the least bit worried about dirtying the off-white sweater beneath it. “How are you with old engines?”

“Astonishingly good,” she admitted. Years of hanging out with her grandfather every summer in his garage while he worked on his old cars had paid off.

Christmas in Evergreen: Letters to Santa

The old truck looked to be in great shape. It had either been kept in a garage and treated with white gloves, or there’d been one heck of a restoration on it. The flame-red paint job was so perfect it looked like it had just come off the line.

He looked unsure whether to believe her. “Really?” “Yeah. May I?” She took the wrench from his hand, noticing that his shiny red toolbox was from about the same era as the truck. Nice. “Thank you.” She leaned in to look under the hood. “All right. What have we got here?” She reached in and gave something a tap. “Have you tried this?”

“Yep.” The motor was clean. Someone took superb care of this ride. The spark plugs didn’t appear corroded or oily, but she tapped on the spark plug wire just the same. “How about this?” “Twice,” he said. “Hmm. I bet you haven’t tried this.” But before she could give the battery cable a good jiggle he said, “Yes. I tried that too.”

“Ah, but…” Lisa reached in to the engine and cranked the wrench against something that seemed a little stuck. “Let me just…” She got it to budge, then stood back. Handing the wrench to him, she asked, “Do you mind if I try to start it?”

“No, go for it.” “This is a beautiful old truck.” She crossed in front of him, opened the driver’s door and climbed in.

“Yeah, isn’t it?”

Nancy Naigle

She closed the door. On the seat of the truck was a clipboard with an employment application for Banford Logging, Inc., already filled out. The guy’s name was Kevin Miller. He looks like a Kevin. In the passenger’s seat, a wooden crate overflowed with fresh vegetables: collards, sweet potatoes, eggplant, carrots, zucchini and peppers. They made her a little hungry for a good stir-fry. “All right.” She leaned forward and twisted the key. The engine struggled.

“Hold on a second,” he said. “Yep.” She took her hand from the key and put both of her hands in the air.

He did something under the hood, then stepped out where she could see him. “Okay. Try it again.”

She turned the key and the truck started right up. “Hey! Look at that!” She rested her elbow out the window. “Teamwork.”

“Yeah.” He walked over to the driver’s side of the truck. “Although I contend that I did most of the work, and most of that before you got here.” He leaned against the front fender, just behind the cute little round side mirror.

“That is fair. However.” She raised a finger toward him. “Had I not come along, you’d still be standing here with your little feet in the snow.”

“Also fair.” His friendly smile sent a zing right through her that could’ve melted that snow.

Cosy Felton is great at her job—she knows just how to handle the awkwardness that comes with working at an adult toy store. So when the hottest guy she’s ever seen walks into the shop looking completely overwhelmed, she’s more than happy to turn on the charm and help him purchase all of the items on his list.

Griffin Mills is using his business trip in Las Vegas as a chance to escape the broken pieces of his life in New York City. The last thing he wants is to be put in charge of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. Despite being totally out of his element, and mortified by the whole experience, Griffin is pleasantly surprised when he finds himself attracted to the sales girl that helped him.

As skeptical as Cosy may be of Griffin’s motivations, there’s something about him that intrigues her. Reviewed by Sharon Thérèse at KFF

I started reading Making Up just after sunset and finished it at sunrise. Getting hooked on a book at daft o’clock usually means trying to get a couple of hours shut-eye in before making a move. My modus operandi went to pot! The only way to stop my thoughts racing was to jot them down on paper. What. A. Read! The magnificent job Hunting did with the plot and character development kept me engrossed from the first page to the last word written.

It was a joy meeting Cosy. Yeap, her name is a tad strange but oh-so-fitting. Wise beyond her years, her outlook on life and career ambitions I found totally refreshing. Juggling a job with her studies works perfectly well; she doesn’t need anyone for anything and her foolproof plan for the future seemed to be unbreakable.

“Hold up. Her name is Cosy? Like, let’s get cosy by the fire?”
“Yeah, or tea cosy, but the British spelling.”

Griffin Mills wasn’t on her agenda but let’s be honest; how could one resist such an irresistible guy who wears a suit like a second skin! Where they’d first met wasn’t exactly a place which made him feel comfortable. He came across as a tad shy and lacking in confidence, but his savoir-faire kicked in pretty darn quick. Getting to know him; what he did for a living, what he wanted and his true thoughts enthralled me.

“…You need to relax, Suit, you’re too buttoned up.”

The scorching hot chemistry between the two of them is so realistic and so palpable, it felt like the pages were going to ignite! However, an unexpected surprise which couldn’t have been revealed at a better moment literally floored me…lol, and Griffin!

“You named your vibrator?”
“He’s been around for years, and he never lets me down. I figured he deserved one.”

The most dramatic part of the story was held back until nearly three-quarters of the way into the read, throwing the protagonists and myself into a turmoil. Emotions run high and Cosy experiences feelings she’d never thought possible. Griffin. Well, he’s bloody furious with the whole debacle and having trouble finding a solution. Loved the advice from his cousin who I might add is gorgeous but the question is, will Griffin’s moral compass influence his decisions.

“You’re talking about her like you’re in a relationship with her.”
“It’s not a relationship.”

I floved the age gap. Despite not being one of the most important issues for either of them, Cosy teases Griffin quite a lot. Other concerns take precedence on a much more emotional level. I understood how Cosy felt, seeing as she’s so independent and I loved how Griffin respects her wishes.

“Yes. I’m your girlfriend and you’re my sugar daddy.”
Griffin rolls his eyes. “It’s a decade, Cosy. It’s not that big of a deal.”
“I know. I just like how much it irritates you when I say things like that.”

Cosy’s older sister is a case and a half and although she’s not very reliable, she does step up to the plate in a critical moment. Griffin’s folk are adorable, except there’s one black sheep in the family who knocks everyone for six with their deceptive ways. Won’t go into details but I’d gladly have given this individual and a couple more a hearty Kindle bashing!

Anyone who’s read my reviews knows that dialogue is my favourite thing and here Hunting has delivered in spades. This book gave me all the feels, lots of laughs, has the right amount of angst and regardless of the title which speaks for itself, I really enjoyed not being quite sure how the story was going to pan out. Bravo Hunting!

Indulge in four delicious tales of true love! In Dating Mr. Right, you’ll devour an online dating meets secret identity romance, a friends-to-lovers plus best friend’s brother scorcher, a story of a pair of jaded lovers bitten by the insta-love bug, and an office romance with an age difference.

Lucky Suit…

I’m breaking up with set-ups. No more “can I introduce you to my son, nephew, grandson, the butcher, the guy down the street who mows my lawn.” Machines know what’s best, and I’ll rely on the great dating algorithms of the web to find the ideal man, thank you very much.

Soon enough, it looks like I’ve found him — his nickname is Lucky Suit, and he’s hilarious, quick-witted and full of heart. But when I finally get together with him in person, I have the distinct feeling I’ve met him before.

Turns out there’s more to our meeting than I had thought, and when we discover what truly brought us together, all bets are off.

Once Upon A Red-Hot Kiss…

A man needs to stay far away from falling into bed with his best friend.

Even if she’s sexy as sin, sweet as candy, and damn near irresistible every single day.

But not only are Macy and I best friends, we’re also complete opposites. She’s perky, upbeat, outgoing and I’m . . . how shall we say . . . a little bit broody.

Then, she reveals something to me that just might lead me to revise all my rules on friends in bed…

Too Good To Be True…

To say I’m wary of love would be an epic understatement. Keep that four-letter word far away from me.

But then a matchmaker friend insists she can pair me with the perfect man for me.

Even when sparks fly and chemistry crackles from the first date, I refuse to believe this kind of insta-connection can be the real thing.

Even though for the first time it feels like it could be.

Or is it just too good to be true?

Strong Suit (a short story)…

From the day I meet Ginny in the conference room, I’m smitten with the co-worker who’s ten years my senior. And I’m going to pull out all the stops to win her over.
