It depends on what you are looking for. A year ago, I left this museum to travel outside the circle, and now I was back in its fold. And what I had been looking for ended up being right back here…at home,” says Juniper Mills.

For Kyle Paxton, everything comes full circle in a strange sort of synergy as the lost love he has been trying to find for two years is finally in front of him.

What happens when Juniper comes back home after a year of living her dream job in London and Ireland as a Celtic curator?

This is Juniper and Kyle’s final love note. An extended epilogue to the epic love story that began in Ann Arbor with Juniper Smoke, and now concluded in Loving Juniper in San Francisco. After hundreds of days apart over thousands of miles, will Juniper and Kyle finally find journey’s end?

This is the last instalment to Juniper and Kyle’s epic love story. So if you haven’t read the previous books I suggest you read those first before you get into this one. I promise you it is worth it to get to know them right from the start.

This story picks up two years later when Kyle and Juniper seem to meet at a crossroad. Juniper finished her work in Ireland and Kyle has been patiently waiting for the love of his life to finally move back to where she belongs, by his side. Will they have their happily ever after at last?

I was waiting for this conclusion to Kyle and Juniper’s story and not disappointed with the author’s delivery. I was glad that Ms Ash created these two very interesting characters: Juniper, nerdy and self-doubting, she has accomplished her goals and has grown into a stronger and mature woman and Kyle who wrestled his demons is now at peace with his past. Their initial meeting in book one was memorable although, throughout the previous books they had always struggled with trust and resulted in heartbreak, but I saw the personal growth of these two people and learned to love their imperfections. In this book there were a few hiccups and some bumpy rides, but I am glad it was written this way because if it was all unicorns and rainbows for Kyle and Juniper it would have been a boring read.

“Without friendship, love fades fast, as it needs more to survive than lust. Left alone, lust stinks like dried and salted cod.”

The final conclusion of a love story is almost always predictable but this author is clever enough to make their journey more fascinating with Juniper’s insecurities rearing its ugly head again. She manages to talk herself out of it most of the time, and despite Kyle’s inner struggle, he has grown into a better person. This couple fought hard for their relationship and the result is epic. The extended epilogue is a definite bonus and gives us the much-awaited closure. Their unforgettable story will stay with me for a long time and I’m glad I followed through all four books. Highly recommended!

“Now,” Kyle stated, standing up. “I have some very important business to do.” Bending over, I started stacking the plates to hide my disappointment that he would be working again.Kyle snatched the dishes out of my hands and put them down. He grabbed my hand and began to lead me out of the patio…and into the living room. There, he pressed me flush against the wall to wall windows and stared into my eyes. “June-Bug,” he said, so softly that I thought it was my imagination. “My business is with you.”“As I don’t work with you, I have no business with you.”

“I’m afraid that it’s a very serious matter…you will need to make it your business.”

“Serious or not, your fetish for bringing business into our bedroom needs to stop.”

“Have I told you how cute you look in that dress?”

I was wearing the new wrap dress I’d bought from Aurora James, during our New York trip. Decked in stripes of wine red, salmon, periwinkle, and navy blue, it had a cute bodice and a clingy skirt. Feeling sexy in the way the sheer chiffon clung to my figure, I eased away from him and lifted one corner of the belted wrap-around. “See. It’s a marvel of technology.”

Readily taking the belt, he tugged at it until the dress fell open. “Open sesame. That is my favorite dress of all.” Seeing my Agent Provocateur nude and sugar pink lingerie embroidered on an invisible net base, Kyle gasped. “Why, a present for me? You shouldn’t have.”

With a soft laugh, I dragged his neck closer to me, bringing his lips firmly onto mine. I kissed him with all the pent-up pain and uncertainty of the past week until it flooded with just longing and longing only. My hands went to the back of his neck, sliding up through his hair. I released his mouth and whispered against his ears. “I love you.”

He didn’t respond. Instead, he caught my mouth again, his hands slipping off my dress and, seizing my hips, he lifted me up until my legs were laced around his back. Carrying me, he walked around the living room and took me up the stairs, still kissing me somehow. I hissed and leaned back, letting the electricity between us rise and rise until it consumed us, taking us to places we’d traveled before, but could never tire of…

BLOG TOUR ~ SLAY: RIVALRY (Slay Quartet #1) by Laurelin Paige

Today we’re thrilled to be on tour with Laurelin Paige’s all-new dark romance, SLAY: RIVALRY (Slay Quartet #1)

Edward Fasbender is a devil.

He’s my father’s business rival, a powerful, vicious man who takes what he wants and bows to no one. I only took the meeting because I was curious. I thought he was going to offer me a job.

But that’s not what he’s after at all. His proposal is much more intriguing, and I see an opportunity. An opportunity to turn the tables and bring down the devil.

I’ve gotten in trouble playing these games before. I know when the risk is too great, when the stakes are too high. I know how to be cold and strong-willed and destructive. I know how to withstand dominant men with arrogant charm and rugged features.

Yet I can’t resist taking on Edward.

And I can’t resist the pull he has on me.

Soon I’m not so sure which side of the battle I’m standing on–if I’m the warrior meant to slay,

Or the one who will be slain.

Apart from loving the cover of this sensational read, I was grabbed by the throat with the introduction. It starts dark and depraved. Full of isolation and nothingness, I sat and read it to my mum and even she was caught up in the darkness of it.

Having not yet read any of the Fixed universe books, Celia is a character I am not familiar with. Having said that, I didn’t feel that it impacted my experience. If anything, I had a more open mind about her than someone who had read her exploits in the previous books.

Along comes Edward. I didn’t know half the time whether I wanted to throttle him or kiss him. The man is a walking dichotomy. He pushes and he pulls and even at times twists arms. He would do anything, and I mean anything to get what he wants.

When it comes to the elite of this book, there are multiple belief systems implemented that are dated circa 1950s, and we all know what they represent.

Though my mind bounced back and forth between Celia and Edward; about who was worse than the other, and I still even at the end of the book still have yet to come to a definitive answer. They are fighting battles neither of them can really win and yet they can’t seem to take a step back and just breathe. High intensity, high voltage; Edward and Celia both have ideals of what they want and of how to get it, I just don’t think they have any idea how much impact damage the other can create. Burning heat and enough tension to uncoil a spring, Edward and Celia come to blows fantastically. Leaving both themselves and the reader fully charged with the potential to shoot thunderbolts.

Nothing can ever beat the end to this dark gem. I was left breathless and agape. How in the world can anything overshadow that ending? Roll on October for the second instalment. Well done Ms Paige for excelling in what you do well, darkness, heat, passion and betrayal.

Sitting like this, on the arm of the chair, his back straight, we were practically the same height. It occurred to me that this was the closest we’d ever been to having equal footing, and somehow that made me both heady and encouraged.I reached out to rub the collar of his shirt between my thumb and forefinger, my breath stuttering under the thick weight of apprehension, my mouth watering from how close I was to touching his skin. This close, I could smell the liquor on his breath and the musky scent of his cologne and the fainter scent underneath of pure man.

“Tell me your requests.” Was it my imagination or did his voice suddenly seem darker? Less steady?

“There’s only one.” I leaned in until my lips were near his ear. “I want to add sex to the deal.”

He made a sound low in his throat, half like a laugh, half like a moan. “What, now?”

He turned his face toward mine, and now our mouths were only inches away from touching. I could feel the warmth of his exhale on my skin, sending a trail of goosebumps down my arms.

“Now, sure.” Fuck, I was wet already. “But I meant in the marriage, too.”

His lips danced around mine. “You don’t know what you’re asking for. You want to be humiliated, degraded, and hurt?”

Yes.

Because that was the goal of The Game.

But, also, YES!

Because, in that moment, there was nothing more I could imagine wanting than to be all those things, to be humiliated and degraded and hurt, by him. I wanted it so much I ached. Ached in places I hadn’t known could feel.

I reached my neck forward, pushing my mouth toward his.

Just when I thought the kiss was inevitable, he leaned back. “You couldn’t handle it.”
