Today we are thrilled to be sharing K.L. Shandwick’s all-new second chance, single dad, tear-jerker standalone romance.
What happens to you when you love someone with all of your heart, but that love now has nowhere to go?
Heartthrob, Cole Harkin counted his blessings with a gorgeous wife and the couple’s excitement of a first baby on the way.
Just when he thought his world was complete, Cole becomes devastated and overwhelmed when his future is ripped out from under his feet. With little choice in the matter, Cole has to face living another life…
A very different life to the one he thought he and Grace had planned.

Any synopsis worded in a way such as this one was, it becomes clear very quickly what type of book this is about. Is this an easy book to read? Yes. Is it hard on the reader? Absolutely. Cole Harkin lost his heart and soul in an instant.
The darkness Cole carried within him at times is tangible. I witnessed his heart bleeding out of him more than once. Every single aspect of his persona is so true to the reality of his situation. The author nailed it! No matter how far he wanted to sink or how many times he wanted to quit, someone or something would keep him from faltering. He is a rock star but that doesn’t mean that he’s a grade A bad guy. His employees have been with him so long, they all act more like family. Throughout they stand by his side and call him on his bad moves.
Another Life spans over years of Cole’s life, moving through the vicious pain and anger at what he lost and moves onwards carrying us through his attempts to rebuild what he lost. His daughter Layla is his shining star. The reason he gets up and moves through the motions. I guess it’s true what they say. Love can rebuild a broken heart.
Another Life left me with deep thoughts and feelings about life and the cruelty of what happens to good people. It took real dedication to create a book with such accuracy and realism, enough light seeping in through the edges of the black to give the reader just a little hope.
This isn’t an easy book to get through for many reasons. It’s a foray into heartbreak and the lengths and breadths people will go through in order to survive. Shandwick has such potential and I adore where this book went. She certainly made me question my feeling. It held me captive even when I found it hard to continue. Cole Harkin will remain in my heart and mind for some time to come. Thank you, Ms. Shandwick, for giving voice to one of the biggest killers of women everywhere.
Writing came relatively later in life for K.L. Shandwick after a challenge by a friend led to The Everything Trilogy. She loves creating new characters and storylines. Her characters have flaws and she hopes this helps the connection between them and her readers. K.L. enjoys the journeys they take her on during the creation of her stories, and each character has his or her own voice. She doesn’t use prepared outlines for her stories preferring the characters to take their own direction as the story progresses. These days K.L. lives in the Yorkshire countryside in the UK and writes full-time.
