Edward Fasbender is a devil.

He’s my father’s business rival, a powerful, vicious man who takes what he wants and bows to no one. I only took the meeting because I was curious. I thought he was going to offer me a job.

But that’s not what he’s after at all. His proposal is much more intriguing, and I see an opportunity. An opportunity to turn the tables and bring down the devil.

I’ve gotten in trouble playing these games before. I know when the risk is too great, when the stakes are too high. I know how to be cold and strong-willed and destructive. I know how to withstand dominant men with arrogant charm and rugged features.

Yet I can’t resist taking on Edward.

And I can’t resist the pull he has on me.

Soon I’m not so sure which side of the battle I’m standing on–if I’m the warrior meant to slay,

Or the one who will be slain.

With over 1.5 million books sold worldwide, Laurelin Paige is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling Author. She is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, or dreaming of Michael Fassbender. She’s also a proud member of Mensa International though she doesn’t do anything with the organization except use it as material for her bio. She is represented by Rebecca Friedman.

We kid you not! Pretty Reckless, the first standalone in the highly anticipated All Saints High series from USA Today bestselling author L.J. Shen is one of the best YA reads this year and available to download now!

LJSPrettyRecklessBookCover6x9_MEDIUM.jpgWe were supposed to be best friends

But turned out to be worst enemies…

They say revenge is a dish best served cold.

I’d had four years to stew on what Daria Followhill did to me, and now my heart is completely iced.

I took her first kiss.

She took the only thing I loved.

I was poor.

She was rich.

The good thing about circumstances? They can change. Fast.

Now, I’m her parents’ latest shiny project.

Her housemate. Her tormentor. The captain of the rival football team she hates so much.

Yeah, baby girl, say it—I’m your foster brother.

There’s a price to pay for ruining the only good thing in my life, and she’s about to shell out some serious tears.

Daria Followhill thinks she is THE queen. I’m about to prove to her that she’s nothing but a spoiled princess.

Everyone loves a good-old, unapologetic punk.

But being a bitch? Oh, you get slammed for every snarky comment, cynical eye roll, and foot you put in your adversaries’ way.

The thing about stiletto heels is that they make a hell of a dent when you walk all over the people who try to hurt you.

In Penn Scully’s case, I pierced his heart until he bled out, then left it in a trash can on a bright summer day.

Four years ago, he asked me to save all of my firsts for him.

Now he lives across the hall, and there’s nothing I want more than to be his last everything.

His parting words when he gave me his heart were that nothing in this world is free.

Now? Now he is making me pay.

Shen literally caught me with my pants down in Pretty Reckless. I never, ever expected such an intense read which would make me keep questioning her. ‘Why, why, why’, I reiterated to myself! She forced me to take a hard look at family dynamics and much more besides. She had me swearing, teary-eyed, made me feel elated and desperate all in the same breath. Paragraphs beyond brilliant, hurtful and oh-so damn compelling, had me backtracking what I’d read. Shen’s writing is addictive. And even though I didn’t like what I’d read inasmuch as I couldn’t come to terms with what was evolving in front of my very own eyes, I couldn’t pull myself away. Hooked, I wanted more.

Secrets. If there hadn’t been so many of them, I wouldn’t have had the feeling that the something was going to hit the fan at any moment. But like the brilliant storyteller that Shen is, she not only held back, she also raised my hopes…and quite cannily so, I might add. Then matters complicated even more than I could have imagined and I didn’t know which way to turn, but hope for relief I clung to. My question was what would be divulged first and more importantly, how would it affect an already stressful home environment. The best recipe for disaster was being concocted and I felt like I had the best seat in the theatre. When cat number two was let out of the bag, I groaned why yet again! It was such a cleverly construed work of trickery, or so I thought at the time. Fooled, I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough to see what else was in store, what else could go possibly go wrong.

Everything changes for the worst when guest number one is invited to stay for reasons I’d rather not disclose. And I won’t even start on guest number two, but supposed friends become arch-enemies, misunderstandings flourish, causing heartache, guilt and jealousy. The green-eyed monster had reared its ugly head earlier on, now it was like waiting to see if there was going to be any damage control. It got to a point in the story when I wondered if certain individuals involved would ever see sense. It’s a fast-paced read, there’s not let up and room to breathe is scarce.

What happened left me seething and I didn’t just want to throttle two of the characters, but three! My level of patience with each and every one of them was beginning to wear thin by now. Wrapped up in their own problems which seemed to be of their own making, escalated by the minute. There’s a huge lack of communication between Daria and her mother, Melody. Not that surprising for a teenager since many of us have been there at one time or another. And despite dual points of view, a lot of emphasis was given to Melody’s role as a mother. Rewind back to Defy: Sinners of Saint, and you’ll have met her and Jaime. A gorgeous couple who still can’t keep their hands off each other, but this parenting business has got them a tad stumped. Jaime, bless him, is a rock. A father who adores his eldest daughter lays down reasonable house rules for what they’re worth.

Titans at loggerheads; two perfectly imperfect teenagers, two lost souls. One lacking attention, the other trying to steer well clear from it. A wrongdoing done without thought for the consequences is the tip of the iceberg. I really don’t want to let on too much as you just have to read this book; however, it’s been a long while since I have loathed a book character so much. I had absolutely no sympathy for her. You’ll see who she is. She stands out in the before and in the after.

Penn. Ooh my, what a lovely guy he is. Since finishing the book he’s haunted my dreams because for someone so inexperienced in life, his moral compass impressed me. Even though he wants the best for the folk around him and I mean this at home and in sports, it’s not easy to please when your feelings and loyalties are torn in two. Not in the slightest bit ungrateful for an opportunity to better his situation, everything seems to snowball into an even messier state of affairs than it is.

Daria. Hmm…she has one big chip on her shoulder. To begin with, I didn’t care much for her but as I read on and saw what was happening, I warmed up her. Shen’s written a very character driven novel but with Daria’s, she’s gone to town. Haughty, beautiful and dreadfully thoughtless, she treats most of those who care for her with utmost disdain. Will she change and if so, who will be the one to break down her emotional walls without coming out of it unscathed?

I can’t put into words how much I loved the last few chapters. Thank you so much, Shen, for letting two wonderful people have their say. I cried buckets, too. Written faultlessly, the banter was where this reader needed it the most, angst-ridden scenes were where I least expected them to pop up. A love story that’s not just unforgettable, it’s tremendous. I have to say that this is the very best of from an author whose storytelling I have always admired. Bravo no. Bravissimo!

“I don’t want you transferring into my school,” I hiss out. Melody would gladly file a transfer request, and Principal Prichard would salivate over the chance to snatch him up for our football team. “That won’t be a problem. You guys suck so much ass, you have shit-breath.” “Still smells better than poverty. You’re poor, right? Your sister was just bullshitting about being rich.”

When someone hits me with a stick, I run over them with a tank. I’m so mean to him I want to throw up. I hate this part of being me. The striking harder at all costs part.

“Just to make things clear.” I put the brush down, batting my lashes. “You’re not my step-sibling, foster brother, or a part of the family. You’re a stray dog. Last of the litter, most unlikely to be adopted, and a charity case.”

Penn takes a step toward me, and my heart is fighting its way out of my ribcage. The closer he gets, the more I realize that my heart might succeed. Penn’s eyes remind me of a snake’s. Mesmerizing, but inhuman altogether. They weren’t like that before.

His scent messes with my head. I want to reach out and caress his face. Kiss his wounds better. Beg for forgiveness. Curse him. Push him away. Cry on his shoulder for what we’ve done. For how it ended. For what we became afterwards, because I’m full of crap and he is totally empty.

We ruined ourselves the day of our first kiss.

Penn looks down at me. Time stops. It feels like the world is losing gravity, falling into a bottomless depth in space when he clasps my chin with his thumb and finger, lifting my head up. I can’t breathe. I’m not sure I want to, either. My towel drops to the floor with a thud, even though I secured it over my chest. I realize that he tugged at it intentionally. I’m naked. My body, my soul, my heart. All my walls are down. Somewhere in my head, a red alarm blasts and my inhibitions are getting armed, ready to fight back. I’m trying to decode his expression. He is amused, irritated, and…playful? The mixture of emotions doesn’t make any sense.

“Mess with me, Followhill, and I will ruin you.”

“Not if I ruin you first.”

Author Melonie Johnson’s romantic début comedy is a fun summer poolside novel that reads like a modern-day fairy tale and therein lies its charm. Getting hoots of laughter out of me, the serious touch woven into the story I found thought-provoking. That being said, I had trouble getting into the book to begin with but this minor setback didn’t spoil my overall enjoyment!

While on the last leg of her holiday with a group of friends from across the pond, American lass, Cassie Crow bumps into a Scotsman whose cheeky grin is to die for. And although Logan Reid’s sense of humour is second to none, his mischievous acts are, to say the least, outrageous. Nonetheless, this doesn’t put the blockers on their sizzling chemistry that’ll steam up the screen of your e-reader!

In Scottish lingo ‘randy’ means rude. But there’s nothing crass about Cassie and in the literal sense of the word, she’s game for a summer sexapade if the occasion with Mr. Right arises. Oops, no pun intended! So, her mission to scratch that itch takes a turn for worst when she’s caught red-handed in an embarrassing situation. However, the excitement of being in bonny Scotland and an even bonnier Scotsman all kilted up to the nines might just be the answer. Can she live down what happened to her though? She’s come prepared and saving the ahem…protection for the big day and to be honest with you, I couldn’t wait for her to crack the box open!

Sometimes, Cassie’s persona came across to me as naïve and overly forgiving. The reason I say this is because a couple of Logan’s wrongdoings irritated me no end, making me want to give him a good Kindle slap. It did; however, seem to give a more dramatic feel to the read. Both have some serious issues to deal with which to my liking, could have been addressed more. On a scale of one to ten book heroes’ rating, I’d give Logan a six and a half since I thought he could have been a bit more chivalrous at times.

Despite not being a huge fan of third-person narrative, the huge plus for me was how Johnson pulled off the Scottish accent so well. Getting Hot With The Scott is fairly well-paced and very character driven. It makes sense that thought had been put into Cassie’s friends’ personalities as some of them will soon be getting their own books in this stand-alone series. Plenty of banter between the gals kept me amused and the ending was delightfully surprising. A definite recommendation for a lazy weekend or summer escape reading.

And the Bailey’s are back in the Buzz Wheel. They always get in there for such delicious antics. This time; however, is for one Bailey, a life-changing event. Harley came into town looking for the father of her child. Not realising that the father was an identical twin. The Hero never for one minute ever thought that at the age of 25 a child would be calling him Da-da.

Through highs and lows, the Hero proves to everyone around him that he is far more than an easy laid back kind of guy. He has a career he loves and he finds himself navigating through the new responsibilities of being a father and how inherently natural some of this is to some people. Parenting books can’t always teach what nature gives.

For anyone who has read the other two previous Bailey books, you would have already come to the profound realisation of how much G-Ma D is loved by her family, the town and by us readers. G-Ma D fills the pages with hilarity and just a sprinkle of home truths when they are necessary.

‘“Go you two. I going to lock up. Ethel is nosey and the one time I forgot to lock the door, I came home to her watching her Netflix account. She watches the stupidest stuff so now my recommendations all suggest I watch Our Planet. Hello…I’m going to be dead soon. Who has time for that?”’

Harley has had a hard upbringing and doesn’t trust many people. She tends to run rather than confront. As well as seeing herself as a fully fledged member of the hard knocks club.

‘I’m not a new puppy filled with hope for an attachment. I’m the five-year-old dog that’s bounced from shelter to shelter.’

Two things these authors do well is comedy and romance. They heat the pages up and have often sent me to the kitchen in need of an ice cold drink. With Harley and the Hero, these things are ramped up to a factor of ten. I couldn’t see Harley with anyone else by the middle of this book and I was so very much rooting for them to get to their happily ever after.

On a side note: I have never, ever laughed so much over such a small cooking faux pas. What do they always tell you about jalapenos? Well somebody found that out and there ended us being a very funny scene involving someone with greek yogurt on them and the other using milk. I cannot say anymore, I nearly forgot how to breathe I laughed so hard.

Of course, by the end of this, we know who the next Bailey is to get their book and their target of affection is someone I cannot wait to watch the explosions go off with. A mortar would be quieter than these two will be getting together. Well done ladies, you’ve outdone yourselves…again!

Piper Rayne, or Piper and Rayne, whichever you prefer because we’re not one author, we’re two. Yep, you get two USA Today Bestselling authors for the price of one. Our goal is to bring you romance stories that have “Heartwarming Humor With a Side of Sizzle” (okay…you caught us, that’s our tagline). A little about us… We both have kindle’s full of one-clickable books. We’re both married to husbands who drive us to drink. We’re both chauffeurs to our kids. Today we are delighted to be bringing you Louise Bay’s all-new contemporary romance,

Add to your TBR today!

Being labelled a player never stopped me from being successful with women. Until I met Truly Harbury.

Truly was the first girl who ever turned me down.

The first female friend I ever had.

And she might jyst be the first woman I ever fall in love with.

When an emergency means she needs my help running her family’s charity, I’m happy to introduce her to the glitz and glamour of the London business world—taking her to dinners, coaching her through speeches, zipping up the sexy evening gown I helped her pick out.

The more time we spend together, the more I want to convince her I’m not a man to avoid, that we’re not as unsuited as she believes.

She sees herself as the book-reading, science-loving introvert while I’m the dangerous, outgoing, charmer.

She thinks I love parties and people whereas she prefers pajamas and a takeaway.

What she doesn’t realize is that I like everything about her–the way her smile lights up a room, how her curves light up my imagination, and especially the way her lips taste when coated with tequila.

She’s the first woman I ever fell in love with. I just need to know if she could ever love me too.

Noah has always been labelled as a player and he’s fine with that. He always manages all right with the women he encounters although Truly Harbury is different. She turned him down all those years ago but they became best friends. Truly is one half of twin and her sister Abigail married Noah’s best friend, Rob and that’s where Noah and Truly met. Noah has been away for four years developing a business that he sold off and ended up with a very large amount of money. He comes back to the UK and until he decides what his next challenge is, he stays with Abigail and Rob. However, Truly is in knots about this as she had a crush on him and doesn’t want that resurfacing. She well knows he isn’t the settling down kind.

Tragedy strikes and Truly is left with looking after the charity. Truly is not a very confident person hiding behind her geek persona and doing the business number crunching. On the other hand, her sister is the more people person going to big charity events and enrolling companies to back them. Noah offers to help and he introduces her to the glitz and glamour of the business side. He sees so much more in Truly and could see himself falling in love with her.

Truly is a smart woman who sees herself as nerdy, living in her sister’s shadows. I found her putting herself down quite a lot and she never came across as confident. Noah seems to bring out her confidence. He’s confident, handsome and has an overwhelming drive to challenge himself a lot and do some pretty extreme things.

It was clear they had deep feelings, they just had their own ideas about what the other would or wouldn’t want from their future. Told in a dual point of view, it’s a favourite of mine since I love seeing what each character is thinking. I liked them both a lot but wanted to bang their heads together more than once! International Player is a slow burn romance and does entail some steamy scenes that Ms. Bay always delivers with her creativity of hot alpha males. Although it took me a while to get into the story, I really enjoyed it.

I did find Truly not believing in herself and Abigail being the better of the two a little frustrating. I loved the interaction between Truly and Noah when the self-doubt stopped and also liked Rob who’s Truly brother-in-law. Rob and Noah’s friendship was funny at times and reading about their friendship was a joy. Lol, poor Rob was henpecked by Abigail! If a love story that takes time for the protagonists to realise what’s in front of them and friends-to-lovers is your thing, I highly recommend Louise’s stand-alone.

In, two, three, out, two. Shit. I tried again. In, two, three, out, two, three. It wasn’t helping. My heart was hammering against my chest, my palms were sweaty, and images of hundreds and hundreds of faces staring at me flashed into my head. I ignored the knock on my office door. I was too concerned about what was happening to me. Was it possible to have a heart attack at twenty-eight? “Truly,” a familiar, male voice called. I couldn’t look up. Couldn’t even open my eyes. Warm hands covered my knees and body heat radiated in front of me.

“Are you okay? Take a breath.” What was Noah doing here?

I nodded, still counting my breath. As if he was familiar with the technique, he began counting along with me. “Out, two, three. In, two, three. Out, two, three.”

His voice was calming. The counting hadn’t worked when I’d done it alone, but hearing him counting too helped me settle into a rhythm.

Eventually, his hands slid from my knees, and I sat up and opened my eyes, right into his.

“Are you okay?” he asked, his brow

I was such an idiot. A mess. And this was why Noah and I had only ever been friends. He was used to seeing me in no makeup with a smear of kung pao chicken on my face. And now I was panicking about a meeting that he would think nothing of. Yes, Noah only ever saw me at my absolute worst.

“What are you doing here?” I asked. I didn’t want him to see me like this.

“Do you want some water?” He stood and poured me a glass of sparkling water from the bottle on my desk.

“Thanks.” I took a sip and sat back in my chair.

“I came to talk to you. Apologize if I seemed harsh last night. I’m sorry if I made this worse, Truly.”

I cleared my throat. “I’m fine. Just a little . . .” I watched as he slid into the chair opposite my desk, his long legs unfurling in front of him. “I just have a lot to do.”

He nodded, steepling his fingers. “And I’m here to help.”
