REVIEWED BY EMMA-LOUISE ON BEHALF OF KFF
Finding real love is hard in the real world but it seems next to impossible to find a genuine guy in Hollywood. Elle has learned many lessons growing up in LA, many of those not positive. She’s been used and abused by vermin and parasites. Made herself promises she knows she can abide by, well, that is until she literally runs into Kas.
High jinx and fate must love this gal because she can’t catch a break. Seeing as she runs around like roadrunner evading Wile E. Coyote it comes as no surprise she blunders through the first few chapters. Poor hapless Kas never stood a chance. A modern-day Adonis who does not need airbrushing is fully capable of making a million women drool into their coffee cups, even when wearing a cast.
Guilted into taking care of Kas, bad boy Kas’s very bad using any and all things in his arsenal, he winds up staying at Elle’s penthouse. Unlikely roommates with enough chemistry to start a five-alarm fire you can guess where this is headed. Or is it that clear-cut?
Kas isn’t a ladies man he’s most definitely a modern man. Melting my heart and my panties with his wooing techniques. That’s not to say that when they finally jump into the sack it isn’t super hawt. This, like any other release of these two authors, is a smooth flowing experience. You can’t help continuing until you reach the conclusion.
‘This is it. This is love. This is exactly what love feels like and goddamn if it isn’t the best feeling in the world.’
Elle’s a force of nature just like fire. You remove one of the necessary elements and the fire goes out. She’s missing a key component, is Kas that key component? These two create so much of their own issues. Angsty and tumultuous, these two are off the charts in heat and sweetness.
‘This boy made me forget myself. Lose my head. Forget the very promise I’d made myself. Because I was moving that way a bit, loving the way he was looking at me.’
Kaylee and Paxton are in the pages. As it appears that both this and One Wild Night run concurrently. Elle and Kaylee hold each other up and never soften the words they know the other uses. True friends giving it straight. I too have a friend like this and they’re worth their weight in gold, just like these friends are each other.
I won’t mention Kas’ agent, he’s a total Muppet for most of the story. Insert big foot in largemouth Dom. Words cut even if the other doesn’t agree with them. I have to, like can’t not mention Elle’s parents: Lindsay and Roger Ward are successful people who love their daughter more than any deal or their next million dollars. Her behaviour of keeping stuff from them makes sense, kind of. I’d have probably gone to them way earlier than she does. Her mum may not be huge but she’s larger than life when it comes to protecting her offspring. No one messes with a mother and lives to tell the tale.
I am truly sad that this is the end of their tale. I will miss these people like very few others I’d met. Thank you ladies for doing what I hoped you could do; pen a book that surpassed the first. I didn’t know if that was possible. One Wild Ride hit all the buttons and has all the ticks in every box.
The authors have a $25 GC up for grabs, so you can get a ton of books 😉
