NOT UNTIL YOU by Corinne Michaels is LIVE!

Corinne Michaels’ swoony, hilarious standalone, NOT UNTIL YOU is now available with all retailers!

NotUntilYou_FrontCover

I have two rules in life:
1. No relationships, falling in love or attachments.
2. No sleeping with clients of my interior design firm.

Since the last guy turned out to be married, they’ve been easy to follow.

Until him.

Callum Huxley is a ridiculously sexy Brit, and the connection we have the moment our eyes lock scares the ever-loving hell out of me. Thank God I came to my senses before going back to his hotel where I would’ve ended up naked, panting, and unable to forget him.

Thinking I walked away from that night unscathed was stupid. Sure enough, at the biggest meeting of my career waits the CEO of Dovetail Enterprises—him. It might be the most embarrassing moment of my professional life. And breaking my no-client rule might just be the hottest moment of my personal life.

Learning to trust has never felt so good, but falling has never hurt so bad.

REVIEWED BY ANNA ON BEHALF OF KFF

Although Not Until You can be read as a standalone, this story is about one of four best friends who have been through many personal trials and survived. This is Nicole Dupree’s story: a fun and sizzling hot romantic saga between a feisty American and a dashing alpha Brit.

For those who haven’t read the author’s previous books about the other friends, you don’t have to worry because the other three women play their own roles in Nicole’s love life. She is the successful interior designer; a commitment-phobe after a previous relationship went south and emotionally scarred her. In spite of the fact that she’s brutally honest, hilarious and the go-getter amongst her circle of friends, she’s actually more skittish when it comes to relationships. But is Callum the right guy for her?

“Love is a fairy tale inside you. It lives there, telling the story of all that’s to come if you can just remember the words. Love is a living thing that we have to nurture when times are bad.”

Callum Huxley is one of the best book boyfriends I have come across; he’s hot, one of the most eligible bachelors in London and with a heart of gold. When he sees what he wants, he won’t stop until he gets it. But this time he’s met his match in Nicole because she’s the one who is not into happily-ever-afters and definitely one who has set her own rules when it comes to her business.

This fun and heart-warming love story with a dash of angst between an alpha male and an alpha female make a very explosive combination. This charming narrative written in dual points of view shows the strong chemistry between the protagonists and the well-oiled machinery of friendship between Heather, Kristin, Danielle and Nicole. These women have each other’s backs no matter what: chicks before dicks or so they say. Compared to the other friends, Nicole’s character has a lot more sass and chutzpah and sometimes her “rules” can be exasperating. The author has done quite well with Nicole’s character development, her attitude and the reasons why; everything is laid out to bare gradually and then you know why she is who she is. I was looking forward to reading Nicole’s story and this author did not disappoint. This is a very entertaining romantic tale and definitely one to read on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

FRAGMENTS OF ASH by Katy Regnery is LIVE!

From New York Times bestselling author Katy Regnery comes a dark and twisted retelling of the beloved fairytale, Cinderella!

My name is Ashley Ellis…

I was thirteen years old when my mother – retired supermodel, Tig – married Mosier Răumann, who was twice her age and the head of the Răumann crime family.

When I turned eighteen, my mother mysteriously died. Only then did I discover the dark plans my stepfather had in store for me all along; the debauched “work” he expected me to do.

With the help of my godfather, Gus, I have escaped from Mosier’s clutches, but his twin sons and henchmen have been tasked with hunting me down. And they will stop at nothing to return my virgin body to their father

…dead or alive.

** Contemporary Romance. Due to profanity and very strong sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.**

REVIEWED BY EMMA-LOUISE ON BEHALF OF KFF

This release has been hyped and I was extremely stoked-up to get a copy. I kept everything crossed that this wasn’t another of those cases of overhyped-super-let-down. Thankfully this book lived up to the buzz and so much more. The telling of a modern-day fairytale has been tried and done by several authors. This author is I have to say, the best of them. Chock-full of romance, suspense and a tinge of mystery.

Ashley’s mother is found dead a month after Ashley’s eighteenth birthday. Tragedy rarely hits singularly. Shortly after her mother’s funeral, Ashley is dropped on her head with a revelation from her dear old stepfather Mosier Răumann (pronounced Rowman). With the help of her fairy godfather and a well-meaning man, she gets out of dodge. Enter one of the most abstinent men I have had the pleasure of loving in quite a while.

Julian Ducharme is angry and spiteful to begin with, and at times I almost couldn’t handle how he treated Ashley. There was one pitiful scene about forty percent in that almost broke me. How something as simple as an offering for friendship could lead to one of the most tragic scenes I have ever read. I ended up, and I kid you not with a red face from ugly crying so much, I do not often have to put a book down and walk away because of how it makes me feel. I mentioned that scene to a family member and just talking about it had me in tears again. What has this author done to me?

Quickly I became invested in Ashley and her story. We’ve all experienced a moment or time in our lives where we feel truly alone. Ashley’s character was as fragile as she was strong, weak and yet unbreakable, naïve and yet older than her years. Fragments of Ash is an expedition for both Julian and Ashley. They both have baggage, so much so they are ladened down, exhausted and numb. Julian is almost like the tin man out of the Wizard of Oz; his heart is there if only he could feel it beating in his chest.

“But that doesn’t make him your boyfriend,” I snap. My lips turn down, and I look so sad that I add in a whisper. “Not yet anyway.”

The backstory of both characters creates a slow burn adventure. Adventure is the right word for one of them. It takes re-education and trusting oneself to forget what had been sewn in there over years of operant conditioning. Reading their first kiss was like experiencing my first kiss all over again. Shame mine wasn’t as good as theirs clearly was!

‘My body is his playground, and he is doing things to it that I never imagined. Even more, my body is responding like it’s been waiting for him to touch me like this. Like maybe it’s been waiting forever. I know what it wants, and as my hips start to thrust softly against his hand.’

Ms. Regnery is a true artist of words. I cannot express how immensely overwhelming I felt at times. I craved this book, just one more page, just one more chapter. Working between sessions was a real pain for me. Sadly workie equals no books for Emma. *sighs*

I’m a fickle reader, I know this well enough. When I read Unloved last year I said THAT was this author’s best book. Now I’m stating: that as of this moment, Fragments of Ash is her best. High five woman, and a standing ovation. Bloomin’ brilliant.

Sitting in an old, broken-in wicker chair that looks out at the barn and meadow, I place my food on the table beside me and bow my head in prayer.
“Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty, through Christ our Lord. Amen.”
When I look up, I see the barn door slam shut and find Bruno standing across the gravel driveway, watching me. He makes a baying sound, then crosses toward me, the pitter-patter of his paws on the gravel making me grin.
“Good morning, sweet boy,” I say, as he approaches. “Are you coming to visit me?”
He pads up the three back porch stairs to my chair, sits at my bare feet, and looks up at me expectantly.
“Are you hungry, baby?”
As if he can understand my words, he darts a glance to my eggs and licks his lips.
“I’m not sure I’m allowed to feed you,” I tell him.
“Rowr. Rowr,” he rumbles, looking at my eggs again.
“Hm. Okay. How about I have one and you have one?”
I lower my plate and slide one egg off the side and onto the porch floor. Before it hits the ground, it’s gone.
“Whoa!”
He looks surprised, then sits down genteelly, staring up at me like I’ve hung the moon. I giggle at his hopeful expression.
“More? Doesn’t your master feed you?”
I pick up my fork and try to avoid his eyes as I cut a small piece of egg then spear it with the tines. But I can’t avoid the small movements of his head, which track my every movement.
“Still hungry?”
He whines hopefully, his amber tail swinging back and forth on the porch floor like a duster.
“Oh, fine!” I say, placing the plate on the floor with another giggle. “You win.”
He leans down, gobbling up my second egg, and I make a mental note to change my grocery order from one dozen eggs to two.
“He’s taking advantage of you.”
Julian is standing halfway between the barn and the house, hands on his hips and a difficult-to-read expression on his face. Annoyed? Amused? Hmm. I’m not sure.
“Did you let him eat your whole breakfast?” he asks.
“Wh-what? No! We just . . . I was just sharing . . .”
“. . . your whole breakfast,” he finishes for me matter-of-factly.
He whistles—a short, high-pitched sound—and Bruno immediately trots down the porch steps and sits down in the gravel next to his owner.
“I’m . . . I’m sorry,” I say, reaching for my orange like I’m trying to even the score. You have a dog? Well, look at me, buster. I have an orange. “I should have asked your permission before feeding him.”
“Probably,” he says, reaching down to ruffle Bruno’s head. “But it’s okay. He’s a hound. It’s not like he’s going to get sick. Hounds aren’t prissy.”
“Are some dogs . . . prissy?” I ask, clasping my orange between both hands. This is the longest I’ve spoken to a single, young, available man, on my own, since I was thirteen, and I can almost feel the fourteen-, fifteen-, sixteen-, and seventeen-year-old parts of me jumping up and down and swooning inside.
“Ever meet a poodle? Or a Chihuahua?”
My shoulders skim my ears when I shrug. “I don’t really know that much about dogs.”
“Never had one?”
“No.”
“Okay. Well, Bruno’s a hound. Specifically, he’s a redbone coonhound. He’s a working dog. A hunter.”
“He hunts . . . racoons?”
“His breed does.”
“Oh.” I think this over. “Poor racoons.”
And then the most miraculous thing happens. Miraculous because I wasn’t expecting it. Miraculous because I thought Julian was beautiful when I first saw him yesterday, but I had no idea how he could look . . . when he smiled.
I’m not ready for it. None of me is ready for the lightning bolt of pleasure that enters through my eyes and zaps my whole body, down to the tips of my toes and back up again. I feel lit up from the inside. Hot and bright.
“Poor racoons.” He chuckles softly, like he’s surprised, then shakes his head, staring down at Bruno. “Yeah. Okay.” He looks up and meets my eyes, his own still slightly crinkled from his smile. “Don’t worry. I let him tree them, not kill them.”
I realize that my mouth’s hanging open, and I close it, passing my orange from hand to hand as my racing heart pounds in my ears.
His smile fades as he stares back at me, the silence taut between us. His eyes widen, darkening to a deep forest green, and I watch, mesmerized, as he licks his lips before glancing over his shoulder at the barn.
“I should . . . get back to work.”
“Me too,” I murmur.
“You too?” he asks, his brows furrowing in confusion.
“No. Not me,” I say, popping up from my chair, my face flaming as my fingernails dig into the skin of the orange, spraying bitter juice onto my fingers. “I’m not . . . working. I’m just . . . I . . . I have to go, um, too.”
He stares at me for an extra beat, then chuckles softly before heading back to the barn.
I stare at his back, lowering my eyes to his waist, then still lower to his—
“Hey, Ashley,” he says, turning so fast, he catches me staring at his backside.
Can you clock the speed at which a human neck snaps up? Whatever the record used to be, I’m positive I just beat it. “Hmm? Y-yes?”
He grins at me, and I know I’ve been caught gaping. Lord, help me. I brace myself, expecting him to say something lewd or, at the very least, suggestive. Heck, I haven’t been called a bitch in almost thirty-six hours. I suppose I’m long past due.
“Thanks for dinner,” he says softly, then turns back around and saunters into the barn.

Gabby

Looking back, I should have seen the signs. Perhaps I did, but I subconsciously chose to ignore them.

From the time I was ten, when I first met Dylan, I knew he was my forever guy. Back then, I couldn’t put words to what I was feeling, but, as the years progressed, I came to recognize it for what it was—soul-deep love. The kind only very few people ever get to experience. Dylan was more than just my best friend, my childhood sweetheart, my lover.

He was my soulmate.

We were carved from the same whole—destined to be together forever.

Until he changed.

And I believed I was no longer good enough.

Until he shattered me so completely, it felt like I ceased to exist.

And I’d never experienced such heart-crushing pain.

Until he leveled me a second time, and I truly wanted to die.

But I had to stay strong because I wasn’t alone in this cruel twist of fate.

I look to the sky, pleading with the stars, begging someone to tell me what I should do because I don’t know how to deal with this. I don’t know how to cope when my forever has changed, and I can’t help wondering if I had seen the signs earlier, if I’d pushed him, would it have been enough to save us?

Or had fate already decided to alter our forever?

This is a friends-to-lovers/second chance romance that is loaded with angst in every page. The book’s main characters: Dylan, Gabby and Slater’s relationship is a wild rollercoaster ride of young love, agony and hope it will make you weep.

Gabby is the youngest child and the only daughter of a very close knit loving family. She has three older brothers but Ryan is the closest to her age and he is the most protective of her. A nursing student in her sophomore year and living the life with her best friend and true love she’s got the world in her hands but will it last?

Dylan is a techie genius and developed an app which earned him a lot of money at a young age. He grew up with Gabby and they have been best friends since they were ten years old. He was Gabby’s best friend first and a faithful boyfriend second to none. Or so it seems.

Slater is the “adopted” member of Gabby’s family when he lost his mother to illness. He is Ryan’s best friend and also grew up side by side with the rest of Gabby’s siblings.

“When he gives his heart, he gives it completely. His love lifted me up when I couldn’t find my feet. His love propelled me forward when I couldn’t find the strength to go on. Time and time again, he shoved his own feelings and needs aside in favor of mine.”

When you come across a seemingly ideal relationship in a book, you know that there is going to be a catch when everything is rainbows and unicorns. Dylan and Gabby’s perfect bubble burst halfway through the book when she heard some rumours. I must admit I couldn’t connect with Dylan’s character, his one-eighty degree turn although somewhat justified in the latter part of the book, showed a flawed persona. Even when everything came to light, I was still not a hundred percent convinced he was the right guy for Gabby just because he messed up. Slater as the other protagonist in the story is a solid character who will draw the reader’s sympathy but some of his decisions I considered weak. The author conveniently took out one protagonist that paved the way for the other two to have their happy ending. The twist in this story is seamlessly put together. It’s like watching the pieces of a puzzle slot together but also makes it predictable. I wish the author had weaved a more unconventional twist to the plot that would have made this book more interesting for me. If the author aimed to write a very angsty romance which will make you ugly cry, then this is the one for you. Unfortunately, I’m probably one of the jaded ones who has read more than a few similar plots but all in all, it’s a good read.

Daphne Gallo Knows she is in trouble when she lays eyes on a mysterious man but when she discovers his name, that seals the deal that she should stay well away from him. Their fathers are sworn enemies, crime bosses from rival families. Leo Conti doesn’t care who they are and what it means, he can’t and won’t be deterred.

Daphne is very much a family girl and the only female sibling with very protective brothers. Not to be fooled, she’s very gutsy and full of sass. However, she knows that it is a car crash waiting to happen if she was to get involved with Leo. The family are hard-working law-abiding citizens, but their father has led a life of crime and has spent most of his children’s lives in and out of jail. Daphne steers clear from that lifestyle as does Leo.

Leo is a hardworking businessman of a reputable chain of hotels. His father is like Daphne’s father and delves on the wrong side of the law. Their fathers were once friends but fell out many years ago and are now arch enemies. Leo can’t resist the charms and beauty of Daphne and will not be deterred from pursuing her.

The two spend a bit of time together, Daphne feels guilty at the trouble it will cause and tries to break things off. Leo tries to fight for the woman that has captured his attention and it just seems an impossibility for the two star-crossed lovers to continue the path of their attraction.

The chemistry is off the charts and was oozing between every scene and word written. I was rooting for these two and felt that knowing the backstory, them ever being together was hopeless. It was as if the side characters had a radar and knew the protagonists were seeing somebody in secret. Flow was enjoyable to read, the supporting characters as they were just as interesting. I’m intrigued by Daphne’s best friend Michelle. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding her but it made me chuckle how she knew Daphne was up to no good with somebody that was completely forbidden.

I enjoyed this offering but did want a bit more. As this is a series, I hope we’ll get to see them again and judging where their story took me, I’d love to find out what happened, especially as the ending and all the characters are shrouded in mystery. The author pulled me into this story and I look forward to the next installment.

BLOG TOUR ~ DATING THE ENEMY by Nicole Williams

Today KFF are on tour with Nicole Williams’ all-new enemies-to-lovers romance, DATING THE ENEMY

AP new - synopsis.jpg

Ms. Romance, Hannah Arden, writes one of the top read relationship advice columns in the nation. Mr. Reality, Brooks North, writes the top read relationship advice column. Ms. Romance believes in true love and soul mates. Mr. Reality believes love is a term humanity has assigned to the primal instinct to procreate. She believes in fate—he in chance. She knows there’s one right person for everyone—he knows there are multiple ones. The two writers couldn’t be more polarized on relationships. They’re professional rivals, and philosophical antagonists.

For eight years, their battles have been fought with words and ink. That changes when they apply for the same position at the World Times and find themselves face-to-face for the first time. Brooks isn’t the sour-faced, antiquity of a man Hannah pictured. And Hannah isn’t exactly the middle-aged shrew with cat hair on her housedress that Brooks imagined either.

In lieu of competing for the promotion traditional ways, the two writers are presented with playing the leading roles in a social experiment unlike any before. Can a person be tricked into falling in love? Can a relationship be crafted under the right string of circumstances? Hannah knows the answer. So does Brooks.

Agreeing to the terms, the two set out on a three-month dating experiment, live-streamed for the world to watch. All Hannah has to do to win is not fall in love with the narcissistic brute. All Brooks has to do is get the starry-eyed dreamer to fall in love with him. Both are so confident in their philosophies, they expect the challenge to be easy.

With the world watching, Brooks and Hannah will be forced to confront their beliefs and conclude, once and for all, who’s right. The answer is one neither of them saw coming.

“Where do you think you’re going?”
I jolted. Brooks had an annoying talent of being able to appear out of thin air. “As far away from this dance floor as I can get.”
“But we haven’t danced yet.” Brooks crept in front of my path, forcing me to stop or crash into him.
Braking to a stop, I shot him a look. “I’ll be sure to shed some tears for that later. When I’m asleep.”
“Someone’s notably grumpier now than they were earlier.” His eyes narrowed in an investigative kind of way. “Methinks you weren’t totally forthcoming about you minding if I danced with other women.”
The cameraman was leaning in, our ever-present third wheel, but I didn’t feel the need to lower my voice. “Methinks you were onto something when you expressed trepidation over your manhood’s functioning properties after tonight.”
Brooks let out a low whistle. “Under the right circumstances, those words, from that mouth, would be such a turn-on.”
“The right circumstances being what? Your standing appointment with a dungeon and a dominatrix?”
One dark brow lifted. “Bad kitty.”
“No. Grumpy cat.” I circled my face before going around him.
His arm whipped out, cinching around my waist to draw me back to him. “Let’s see if I can help with that.” His hand found mine, lifting it, while his other secured at my back, bringing me closer. And closer.
And . . .
“Brooks,” I hissed, remembering the camera before I put into words what I’d just felt.
He didn’t appear the slightest bit fazed. “What was that about my functioning manhood?”
“I don’t want to feel it digging into my stomach when I’m trying to focus on tangoing.”
“Then you shouldn’t have worn that dress.”
“And we’ll lump that in the category known as victim-blaming,” I muttered, trying to ignore the hard swell rubbing against my midsection.
“It’s not your fault my dick has a thing for your dress.” Brooks didn’t lower his voice at all. “It’s his fault, one hundred and ten percent. Total case of dick-blaming right here.”

Willow Taylor lives in a castle with large walls and iron fences. But this is no ordinary castle. It’s called Heartstone Psychiatric hospital and it houses forty other patients. It has nurses with mean faces and techs with permanent frowns.

It has a man, as well. A man who is cold and distant. Whose voice drips with authority. And whose piercing gray eyes hide secrets, and maybe linger on her face a second too long.

Willow isn’t supposed to look deep into those eyes. She isn’t supposed to try to read his tightly leashed emotions. And neither is she supposed to touch herself at night, imagining his powerful voice and that cold but beautiful face.

No, Willow Taylor shouldn’t be attracted to Simon Blackwood, at all.

Because she’s a patient and he’s her doctor. Her psychiatrist.

The medicine man.

It’s undeniable something about her catches his attention and somehow he’s seen as her hero, which is the last thing he wants to be to anyone. Dr. Blackwood carries a lot of guilt on his shoulders, and discovering his many hidden depths made this read a real page-turner.

The secondary characters were very well-written into the mix, and the interactions between Willow and Renn, Vi and Penny were quite funny at times. Regardless of them battling their own issues, it was nice to see banter and friendships forming. Whether it was their chats, reading or playing poker, they were very entertaining. In one scene with yoga, I couldn’t help but laugh-out-loud.

Heartbreak abounds. Let’s not forget this is a psychiatric hospital and there are some elements that not only made me tearful but the patients’ inner battles with their mental illnesses I also found upsetting. The harsh reality of it all is brought home when they’re having a bad day and nothing less than heart-rending. Chemistry and hot steamy scenes had me fanning myself because just wow, Simon Blackwood is one hell of a dirty-talker. Their taboo doctor-patient relationship without forgetting to mention the age gap, had me hoping and wishing it would or could work out for them. Simon’s a hot broody male and intrigued me no-end with the mystery surrounding him.

Medicine Man and his little warrior have such a rollercoaster of a time with their feelings and turmoil. Ms. Kent has spun quite the forbidden the tale; so much so that I was sat on the edge of my seat, waiting for it all to go terribly wrong. The author is a very talented wordsmith and I felt every word and emotion throughout. There was so much sadness surrounding the backstory of depression and it was dealt with delicately and respectfully. I also enjoyed the playlist which accompanies the book and it brings out all the feels. I can’t recommend this book enough and will be doing a re-read with the music on repeat. Tip; one of the tracks Medicine Man by Charlotte OC sums up everything beautifully. Bravo Ms. Kent. Five well-earned stars.

“Do you have someone special, Dr. Blackwood?”

Someone you kiss? Someone you grab and pull into a dark alley and press against

walls?

I don’t say that but I’m definitely asking that.

It’s like he hears the unspoken questions because the heat of his body seems to have

doubled. Like his blood is rushing in his veins with an uncanny speed.

With flaring nostrils and a hard jaw, he answers, “No.”

“Why not?”

“Because I’m busy.”

I want to smile. Actually, I’ve never wanted to smile this hard. Ever. His answer calms

me but it also makes me restless to move closer to him. I want to trace my palm over the arch

of his chest and see if I got it right in my dreams.

But I don’t do any of those things. I don’t want him to take away this small concession

he’s given me.

Why is he even giving it to me? I’m not complaining. But still.

“Busy with patients?”

“Busy with my job. Yes,” he says, all professional-like.

That’s what he is. Professional and distant. Dedicated to his job and fixing people. If

Mass General let him go, then they are idiots.

I’m an idiot, too, in this moment.

Instead of backing off, I want to do something. Something that might crack his cool

façade. Maybe reaching up and messing up his no-nonsense hair.

What would he do? If I did that? If I grabbed his collar and pushed him against the wall?

And kissed him?

My eyes drop to his lips, his soft, soft lips. There’s a cleft in the middle of his lower lip. I

want to taste that cleft, dig my tongue in it, wet it, suck on it, bite it.

“So you don’t have fun at all?”

“No. I’m not a fun guy.”

I watch his lips form the words, and every syllable that comes out of his mouth makes

my need to shake him, kiss him, mess him up, stronger. Stronger and stronger.

The need is so consuming that I hardly notice when he puts his hand on my palm and

takes it off his body. It’s final and smooth, his action. Effortless. As though my touch barely

registered to him.

“But I think you have a point. It’s after hours and I should go… have fun rather than

spending my time with a patient.” He steps back then. “I’ll see you next week. Same time.”

From USA Today bestselling author, Nina Levine, comes a new standalone, bossy-billionaire romance.

It was a bad start to my week.
Or shall I say, he was a bad start to my week.

Presumptuous, arrogant asshole.
He barrelled into my office and demanded I sell him my property.
I said no. Never.
He said everything is for sale.
He also said he always gets what he wants.
Well, Ashton Scott can kiss my ass. He’s not getting this.
There’s one problem with that.
The man just doesn’t give up. And now he’s decided he wants me, too.
He’s sexy AF.
He wears a suit like nobody’s business.
And his bossiness turns me on in ways I can’t even understand.

Or at least, I wasn’t…
My fight is what Ashton loves the most.

Right ladies! Now you have the opportunity to one-click a book which I’d read chapter by chapter before publishing. It’s an incredibly sexy read and the author’s modus operandi couldn’t have been better. Left on a cliffy of sorts between each short installment, my definition of this intense romance has to be erotically angst-ridden. Doubts, fears and the heroine’s insecurities are woven into the story over quite a short time span, making it a real page-turner. I even asked myself whether her two lovebirds would be able to find a status quo, their happy ending. Not an unreasonable wish since meeting in the middle, understanding each other’s up and downs and ins and out isn’t so complicated if strong feelings are involved. Ashton Scott’s story told from a dual perspective presents all these sentiments in detail.

“I think Ashton Scott has a carefully considered strategy for everything in life.”

I going to have to put the author’s MC series at the top of my endless TBR pile because if her persuasive narrative and the solid plot in this book is anything to go by, I’m obviously missing out. Not only did I like the way my patience was tried with a couple of suspect secondary characters who go out of their way to complicate matters, but also how lessons can be learned for those of us who have trouble listening or observing. I couldn’t ignore what I thought was impossible regarding her protagonists’ situation. Let me get something straight. Although steaminess sizzles off the pages, is this enough for Ashton and Lorelei to combat certain issues? Ashton’s full of himself. I mean… Full. Of. Himself.

“You will learn that while I’ll allow you to fight me, I’ll never allow you to deny me when I truly want something.”

It’s as if the noun no is non-existent in Ashton’s vocabulary. Irritating and enrapturing all rolled into one gorgeous swoon-worthy man, nothing has been given to him on a silver plate. He knows what he wants in both his personal and professional life; is protective towards those he cherishes, and a true troubleshooter when family disputes arise. I smiled more than once at the brotherly advice he gave his sister, Alessandra, and often wondered if he’d be able to put it into practice. At the same time, his loved ones including his adorable secretary give as good as they get.

‘There are only three people in my life who get away with speaking to me this way–Jessica, my sister, Alessandra and my friend Jack.’

Lorelei is her own woman. Goal-driven, her ambitions aren’t in the slightest bit outrageous. She has her reasons for being stubborn and convincing her otherwise would cause distress. I have to add that I liked her one hell of a lot, and her concern in respect to Ashton’s unyielding stance I found justifiable. But for me, there’s nothing like a strong sassy female willing to stand up for herself. Especially seeing that Ashton’s business arrogance and overpowering bossiness in the bedroom isn’t what she’s used to. Question is whether Lorelei is prepared to bend…or is he?

“You basically told her you don’t think much of her ability to achieve her goal. And that, little brother, is a sure-fire way to upset a woman.”

I’m a sucker for banter and believe you me, the author’s delivered dirty-talking fan-grabbing dialogue in scenes which will make your panties melt! I did feel that the two unlikable individuals’ stories could have been developed more in the respect that I still want to know what becomes of them. In fact, I have my theories, so maybe a spin-off wouldn’t be asking for too much, nudge! I couldn’t help sympathising with Ashton’s best friend Jack, an amicable chap with some serious problems, I really liked the way his friends gathered around him. And I really enjoyed the rapport between him, Lorelei and a couple of other reliable folks, hmm… once again, I felt I was missing out on something here. That being said, it is Ashton and Lorelei’s story, so I’ll just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope the author makes my dream come true. All in all, I found Nina’s well-written stand-alone novel a joy to read. Bravo!
