REVIEWED BY TRACEY LOU ON BEHALF OF KFF
After reading the blurb for this book, I was looking forward to reading it. A taboo storyline. Girl meets boy etc, only this boy is a man at least 20 years older and is the father of her boyfriend. This is definitely going to be an interesting read.
Cassidy is in a relationship with Preston and they are both home for the summer from university. Preston is staying with his dad who is a busy doctor at the local hospital. Preston is an immature selfish kind of guy. His relationship with his father is rather strained due to happenings in his childhood. His relationship with Cassidy seems to be heading in the same direction.
Cassidy felt that her relationship with Preston had changed recently and that they both wanted different things. Add that to her growing attraction to Dr. Lowe. A bolt out of the blue! Just looking at Dr. Lowe was making her shiver; those telltale signs her body was giving her and showing made her realise just how attracted she was to him. The feelings were so intense she couldn’t ignore it. Did she want to? Was the feeling mutual? She wasn’t sure.
When push comes to shove, she made her move and the outcome was the realization that the feelings and attraction she felt was in actual fact, mutual. Would this couple act upon their feelings, knowing that whatever the outcome, Preston would not be happy? The stigma surrounding the age gap was another thing they would have to contend with. Were they both ready to move forward and declare their feelings to the world knowing the upset it would cause? Read and you shall find all the answers you are looking for because you know I can’t divulge that information.
On a side note, I would just like to say that I felt this story could have had more depth to it. The storyline was ok but to me, it just seemed to skim the surface. The sexual content was high and certainly well written but yet again, I felt there was too much of it. I know right! How can a book have too much sex in it?
Maybe less sex and more depth is the answer.
