Dean Sutherland is a player, hence the title of this book. He has it all, wealth, good looks and the charm that goes with it. He is the son in Sutherland & Son which keeps him busy during the day and leaves him to play at night.
Beth was an employee of Sutherland and son and enjoyed her job. What she didn’t like was being stuck between father and son. Being propositioned by a man old enough to be your dad and the owner of the company sent her into a tailspin.
One kiss. It was one drunken one but she hasn’t been able to forget it and neither had Dean. He thought it was the beginning of something good; however, Beth came with insecurities and turned tail and ran.
Finding out his father had made advances spurred Dean on to make his move. And this was beginning of their story. An office romance that would have a happy ending or one that would completely destroy them both.
This short story was told in a dual POV which made it more interesting. Seeing and listening to Dean added a whole new dimension to the book.
This was not my first read by Eden Summers but would just like to say that even I could tell that this was one of her early works. Reading her recent work over the last year or so I could see a maturity in her writing that was absent in this one. I enjoyed the story although I would have liked to have seen more depth to it.
She lives in Australia with a young family who are well aware she’s circling the drain of insanity. Eden can’t resist alpha dominance, dark features and sarcasm in her fictional heroes and loves a strong heroine who knows when to bite her tongue but also serves retribution with a feminine smile on her face.
