My daddy warned me never to fall for a boy like Jace Jacobs . . .
The second I saw him walk through the door, I knew he was trouble.
A gorgeous rebel with a bad attitude and a huge chip on his shoulder.
My heart warned me. I didn’t listen. I saw something protective and good beneath the fierce, tough exterior.
I fell hard and fast.
He promised we’d be together forever, and then left me with a broken heart.
Now, ten years later, Jace Jacobs is standing at my door.
Sexier than he’s ever been.
Provocative and commanding.
Successful and powerful.
The man I always knew he would become.
But I promised myself I’d never lose my heart to him again.
Even time couldn’t dim our chemistry. One glance of his intense eyes, and I become weak. One brush of his hand, and he brings me to my knees.
Little do I know, Jace holds the key to everything I’ve lost and everything that threatens my future.
Now he will either save me, or he will break me all over again . . .
More of You – a Confessions of the Heart second-chance, stand-alone romance

From New York Times bestselling author Katy Regnery comes a dark and twisted retelling of the beloved fairytale, Cinderella!

My name is Ashley Ellis…

I was thirteen years old when my mother – retired supermodel, Tig – married Mosier Răumann, who was twice her age and the head of the Răumann crime family.

When I turned eighteen, my mother mysteriously died. Only then did I discover the dark plans my stepfather had in store for me all along; the debauched “work” he expected me to do.

With the help of my godfather, Gus, I have escaped from Mosier’s clutches, but his twin sons and henchmen have been tasked with hunting me down. And they will stop at nothing to return my virgin body to their father

…dead or alive.

My mind skitters to her face—her beautiful fucking face—and the way she stared at me with those wide eyes and her lips lightly parted. Those lips. She has Angelina Jolie lips. Scarlett Johanssen lips. Liv-fucking-Tyler from the “Crazy” video lips. Except this chick doesn’t look like Liv. She’s got blonde hair and a perfect pout like Alicia Silverstone. I remember the beginning of that video when our girl, Alicia, climbs out a bathroom window in her Catholic school uniform, her skirt riding up to show her black lace panties…and ahhh, yes, I feel my cock twitch just picturing it.
Fuck my life.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
Because yeah, I was yelling at Jock, but she was standing behind him, and I didn’t miss the tight lines of her teenaged body under a pair of new jeans and a long-sleeved T-shirt. Her rounded tits strained just a little against the fabric of her top. Not enough to be dirty. Just enough to hate her. Because no guy alive—least of all me—has a right to want someone like her. Or sure, we can want her, but we’ll never have her. Not in a million years.
She looked to be about Noelle’s age—somewhere between eighteen and twenty, and ridiculously young to suddenly arrive alone in the middle of nowhere, put up in an old farmhouse by a couple of aging queens.
How in the fuck is this her best option?
Who is she?
And what exactly is her deal?
I grimace because the headlines of her story—the easy parts—start materializing as I think about what I know about her. I didn’t do all that training for nothing. Plus, I have good instincts. I could practically smell it on her—the fear, the desperation, the way she wouldn’t meet me eyes except to insist that she was an adult.
God, what a joke. If she’s an adult, I’m a French poodle.
Then something occurs to me: it was Jock’s boyfriend, Gus, who gave away the most important part of her story away.
She has nowhere else to go.
And then something else occurs to me, and I wonder, Is she in hiding?
This girl—what’s her name? Amber? Audrey?—is in trouble. Big trouble. The kind of trouble that gets other people in hot water when they were just trying to live their lives and mind their own business. And she’s been dumped on my doorstep. Literally.

The first time I met Ian Kemp in the sparkling blue waters of St. Thomas, I was six years old and we shared a summer beneath the stars.
The second time I met Ian Kemp, he was a shell of the boy I once knew. Turbulent and infuriating, he refused my friendship at every turn. Like me, he was a casualty of life’s cruelty, but we were planets apart.

We’d both sought refuge on the island, hoping to find our anchor. Instead, we found each other and managed to reclaim our stars…until we both got swept away.

Donna’s five star review on behalf of KFF

Koti was six years old when she first set eyes on Ian Kemp at St Thomas a beautiful coastal island. Experiencing a hot summer under the stars. Fast forward to years later and the both of them find themselves on that very island; however, life has taken more than a toll on the both of them and Ian is reluctant to have any kind of friendship with Koti. They both got swept away by the beautiful ocean of St Thomas, finding each other may be a chance at more than a holiday romance.

Koti has a lot of issues and finds solace on the island enjoying the ambience and working for a letting agency. She thinks she is weak, but reading between the lines Koti is much stronger than she gives herself credit for, even if deep down she feels she ran away from her previous life and is hiding out on the island. Koti chips away at Ian for some sort of friendship, but he is hard work and not at all the carefree boy she met all those years ago.

“Ian Kemp was beautiful at fourteen. He was gorgeous when he was twenty-five and stood on his parent’s porch waving at me before he left me with a crush. At thirty-eight, he was devastating…”

Ian is a complex character that had his world turned upside down in the cruellest way imaginable. He is in the depths of despair and so much like Koti has run away to lick his wounds on St Thomas. He is a hot broody alpha male and he did not expect to collide with the little girl from all those years ago, now clearly a very beautiful woman.

The side characters are a very welcome addition and I loved the friendship between Koti and Jasmine. There is another character that will tug at your heartstrings and make you smile, but I won’t say who so not to give the story away; rest assured, everyone will love this additional person to the story.

Even though there was a bit of a push and pull between these two, watching them develop deeper feelings for each other was quite entertaining even if they couldn’t see it themselves. I wanted to bash their heads together at times. The chemistry and romance of this story were oozing from the pages. Ms Stewart is very descriptive and creative in her writing and it was as if I could hear and smell the waves of the ocean, along with feeling the soft sand between my toes. There is a playlist that accompanies the story and it is worth a listen just to tune in with the story.

I must say my heart never stopped beating fast watching their story unfold and find out the secrets of their pasts and how the story would resolve. I haven’t stopped thinking about Somebody Else’s Ocean. There is plenty of angst thrown in, with steaminess aplenty. I cannot recommend this book enough and it is a well worth five stars. Kudos to Ms Stewart, I can safely say you have given me a total book hangover. I will be definitely purchasing this book in paperback to have signed in the near future.

Thwack.
Thwack.
Thwack.“Fack!” It was another one of the hundreds of curses that erupted from the Kemp kitchen. With wide eyes, I watched the wood fly across the porch and onto the sand and heard another loud crash as I stalked the house next door with my phone pressed to my ear.“So how is my son?” His mother asked as I saw more of Rowan Kemp’s kitchen fly over the railing, off the porch, and into the sand. “Is he adjusting well?”“Damnit! Oh, fack your motha,” Ian’s voice rang out in frustration. Giggling, I covered the mouthpiece of the phone as another cabinet door hit the sand. He’d been at it for a few hours. It started with an explosive phone call that I managed to avoid mostly due to my taking cover in the shower and ended with a bang.“He… is. It looks like he’s remodeling the kitchen.”In a flash, Ian stood on the porch only in shorts, his chest heaving, a bottle of the red in his hand. He studied the wood in the sand before he glanced at my house. I ducked out of his line of sight and answered her before more banging started. “He’s fine.”“Oh, that’s wonderful news. Maybe you could put him on the phone?”More growling ensued and then a clear, “Damn you! EISH!”

“Well, at the moment, I think it would be impossible, he’s in the midst of demolition.”

I cringed at the ripping sound and poked my head out of my screen door just as he hurled more wood over the railing.

“You know he’s always been so good at things like that. He built his father a beautiful bookshelf for his study.”

“That’s wonderful,” I said, as Ian unloaded an entire can of lighter fluid on the discarded wood. I raced around the bottom floor of my house and collected every fire extinguisher I had before I sat them next to my front door. Seconds later I heard the whoosh of the wood go up in flames. The rising inferno seemed to fuel him as he added more of his mother’s kitchen to it piece by piece.

Rowan went on, speaking of her pride and joy. “From boy scouts all the way through college, my boy excelled at everything he did. Honor student, swimming, tennis. I had to beat the women away with a stick.”

Ian chose that moment to snap another cabinet door in half over his knee and used his empty wine bottle to bat it into the burning pile.

“You don’t say.”

“Oh, yes, he was such a ladies’ man before he met Tara, his ex-wife.”

Only mildly prepared, I walked out onto my porch at the same time Ian returned to it. He had several photo books in his hand. Rowan whispered in my ear as if he could hear her. “I was never really that fond of her, she seemed a little cold compared to his warmth.”

Ian pulled pictures from the books and began to burn them one by one. Something in my chest split as he walked around Rowan Kemp’s burning kitchen cabinets, tossing away what I was sure were irreplaceable pictures.

He had lost his shit. It was, without a doubt, Ian’s doomsday.

“Don’t!” I screamed from where I stood.

Ian ignored me as he tossed an entire book into the fire before shaking another so that the pictures fed the flames.

“Koti? What is it?” Rowan said anxiously on the phone.

“Oh nothing, I was just…”

“Is everything okay?”

“Oh, fine,” I said, as I paced the porch watching her son destroy his mother’s memories. He must have found the pictures in the linen closet. The Kemps had very few of their own things in the house.

“Rowan, I’m going to ask him if he needs any help.”

“Okay,” she said hesitantly. “But please ask him to ring me.”

“Will do.” I was already running toward the small bonfire just as Ian tossed another picture into it.

“What are you doing!?”

“Privacy,” he said through thick lips. “That’s all I asked for.”

“Kind of hard to ignore you, Ian. Since you’ve gone all Tom Hanks Castaway—me man, me make fire!” I reached for the picture in his hand as he tossed it in. I watched it burn. It was a shot of a woman in her wedding dress who I assumed was Tara. She looked beautiful as she smiled at her groom. I was only able to admire Ian in a well-fitted tux for seconds before the fire engulfed the photo.

Jesus, what could have happened?

“Ian, if you want to talk about it…”

He picked up another book and took a few pictures out shoving them into his pocket before he tossed it into the pile.

“Leave.”

“Please stop. You don’t understand what you’re doing.”

Blazing eyes scoured me before he looked back at the fire. “I know exactly what the fuck I’m doing.”

Sweat pooled on his forehead. He was covered in splintered wood. Ian Kemp had cracked, and he wasn’t coming back until he was ready.

Way too far into his headspace, he ignored me standing next to him.

I walked back to my house and watched him dismantle years of memories as he stared at the fire until it went out.

And then the house next to mine went completely quiet.

PIPER IS LIVE!

Anna’s Four Star Review on behalf of KFF

This book is a spin-off from The Last Score series featuring Simon and Piper and can be read as a standalone; a truly moving love story of two people who have the same passion and talent for music.

I haven’t read the previous books but enough information can be gathered in this story that will get you clued up. Piper, a twenty-year-old aspiring singer dealt with a lot of abuse from her stepfather, when her mother passed away she was lucky enough to be taken in by Gibson who became her guardian. Gibson and his wife Chloe are very much involved in Piper’s life and are very supportive of her dreams. Her growing attraction to a much older member of Gibson’s band causes a lot of tension within her new family.

Simon is Gibson’s bandmate, a talented musician, content enough to enjoy his life as a rock god with no commitments until Piper came into the scene. Although he is twelve years older than Piper, he seems to be too invested in her welfare and causes aggravation from Gibson. Can he prove to her that she is more than enough for him?

“Relationships are borne out of chemistry, attraction and common interests. It’s the connection between two people that counts. Some of the strongest relationships have wide age gaps. What matters is how couples treat each other and how they feel.”

This epic love story has so much passion, fire and harmony. I love that this book includes a lot of details about the music industry and makes it so interesting for the readers, technical but not boring. Narrated from Piper’s point of view, her character development is perfectly captured by the author; when reading her story I marvel at her strength and maturity but at the same time, her inner thoughts also highlight her innocence and naiveté. She is a very attractive and talented young woman who has the magnetic allure to capture the attention of a much older and famous rock icon. This tale pulsates with romance, music and family relationships. Simon is that book boyfriend that will make you swoon. If this book was a concert I’d be throwing my undies at him onstage.

Piper: A Last Score Spin Off   © K.L.Shandwick 2018

Once situated, Simon sat back in his chair, grabbed one of his ribs and took a large hungry chunk out of it. “Mm,” he hummed in an exaggerated sound of enjoyment. The noise immediately made my core pulse, and I stared fascinated as he chewed his first bite. “Oh, God,” he groaned in ecstasy and I squeezed my thighs tightly, together. “Go on, dig in,” he encouraged as he nodded toward the delicious, but messy looking food.My focus was squarely on his cherry-red lips, visibly wet from his tongue, among his full beard and I just about managed to drag my eyes away from them to meet his gaze.Drawing a deep breath, I swallowed roughly and resigned myself to knowing I’d look like a pig eating in front of him, but the smell from the barbecue sauce was ridiculously inviting.

My dilemma was very real as I shifted my gaze to my plate. My stomach betrayed me when it grumbled in protest as the delicious aroma assaulted my brain. Simon was spot on, they were my favorite food. Of all the times to remember what I liked, why did it have to be now?

The way he was devouring his meal made my mouth water. But I knew there was no way I’d walk away from the table without getting in a filthy state once I began to eat.

With an extraordinary amount of delicacy, I choose the smallest rib—if there is such an act as picking up a pork rib covered in gooey sauce delicately—and hesitated when it was level with my mouth.

Stretching my lips clear of the sauce, I dug my teeth into the pork and took several small nibbles of the succulent meat. “Mm.” An involuntary moan of appreciation crept up from my chest because they tasted delicious and I hummed in appreciation just as he had moments before.

Simon grinned and shook his head. “Fuck,” he muttered, chuckling to himself as his eyes darkened, and I frowned because I felt I’d obviously done something wrong.

I shrugged and said the first thing that came into my head. “Like my mom always said, ‘You can’t say meat without saying Mm’.”

Reaching over toward me, he lifted his hand and swiped his coarse thumb pad across my lips then stuck it in his mouth. When he pulled it out, he licked his lips seductively and another wide grin sent a rod of delight straight between my thighs.

“What did you do that for?” The question was out before I had the chance to think about what I was saying. His unexpected intimate gesture had stolen my breath for a moment and my heart pounded wildly in my chest.

“What?” he asked, looking confused, but I thought I detected a playful tone. He certainly looked amused.

“The thing you just did with your thumb,” I stated because when I’d seen Gibson do that to Chloe it had always looked intimate… like I shouldn’t have been there. I may not have had a lot of personal experience of men, but I’d seen enough romance movies to be sure he’d crossed a line.

He shrugged. “There’s only one thing better than the taste of barbecue sauce from a woman’s lips,” he said, ignoring the liberty he’d taken as he flashed me a cocky smile.

Picking up another rib he dug in like nothing had happened and using his teeth, ripped another large chunk of meat from it.

“But they were my lips,” I replied, sounding utterly confused at where he was going with the conversation. For a few seconds I felt vulnerable, inept, unprepared for the move he had made, and unsure why he would have chosen to do that to me.

Was this how Simon really was? Is this why Gibson argued with him when he paid attention toward me? Up until that point I had never experienced anyone invading my personal space uninvited, outside of Colin’s anger, the way Simon did.

“Exactly,” he said, his eyes dropping to my mouth and suddenly I wasn’t hungry any more. For a second I thought I was mistaken, then wondered if he was joking, then ultimately, I felt out of my depth.

I immediately felt uncomfortable and acted on instinct, challenging his comment.

“It’s not okay for you to screw with my feelings, Simon. I’m here because I thought I could trust you, yet I’m barely inside your house and you think that gives you the right to take liberties with me?”

Simon’s eyes went wide, like I’d shocked him by calling him out. He stopped eating, rib poised mid-air and stared at me, hard.

Holding his gaze, I was determined not to turn away from him because it had taken all of my courage to stand up to him.

Suddenly he threw his rib back onto the plate, the hollow bone clattering noisily and shattering the otherwise silent night air.

Sighing heavily, he looked apologetic and when he spoke it was in his low serious tone.

“Fuck. You’re right. I’m sorry. That shouldn’t have happened. I totally forgot myself with you… and of course you can trust me. I’d never hurt you, Piper.”

“Is this how you treat all women?”

“Only the ones I’m attracted to,” he replied, and I searched his face for a hint he was teasing me. When I saw none, I wasn’t sure what to do with his new disclosure.

Deciding he was joking, I called him out again. “Don’t fuck with my head. I’ve had enough of that for a lifetime. I may be young but that doesn’t give you the right to poke fun at me.” Pushing my chair away with the back of my knees I stood up and stared down at him as anger rose inside me.

“After the week I’ve had I’m not in the mood for games, Simon. I lived with the King of Mind Fucks and I don’t appreciate you toying with me like this.

You’re making me feel uncomfortable and frankly I expected more from you. Maybe I should go home?”

“Who says I’m playing games?” he asked throwing his arms wide. “Look, that thing I just did with my thumb? What can I say? It was completely spontaneous. I forgot who you were for a second.”

I huffed out a breath. “Yeah? So, mistaking me for one of your groupies is supposed to make me feel less offended?” I snapped. Anger replaced the awkwardness of the situation.

Simon leaned over and plucked several small white napkins from a silver dispenser on the table. Silently he wiped each of his fingers one by one.

My eyes followed his hands until he’d finished, then looked back up into his. He shrugged then smoothed his closely groomed beard as he considered my question.

“That’s not what I meant.” He sighed flatly, all hint of humor gone from his voice. Glancing up at me he sighed, and I inhaled a deep breath as I tried to remain calm.

EISH!”“Well, at the moment, I think it would be impossible, he’s in the midst of demolition.”

What can I say about Barclay Hammond? Gorgeous, impeccably suited and booted, ruthless, rude and an arrogant playboy, just how I like my male characters.

Contessa Holly, or as she is known, Tessa, arrives from a small southern town to the big and bright lights of New York City. She has one week to find a job. She brings determination and a whole lot of sassiness with her. I like her already! 🙂

Their paths cross unexpectedly but the encounter leaves a lasting impression on them both. Tessa is young beautiful and inexperienced and that is a fact that doesn’t go unnoticed by Barclay. Still, it doesn’t deter him. It was fate that Tessa was looking for a job and Barclays company Hammond press was hiring. Only there was going to be a big surprise for the two of them.

This was the start of a beautiful love story. It wasn’t going to be straightforward but then, when is it ever? He knew he couldn’t be with her, yet he didn’t want her to be with anyone else. Jealousy was a trait that reared its ugly head more than once in this story. They were fighting a losing battle as they both succumbed to their feelings.

Unbeknownst to Barclay, Tessa was offered a job with his company, what she didn’t know was that there was a rule about interoffice relationships.

“If you want to date someone here at Hammond, they have to be on the same level as you. Your equal.” Which left her with a dilemma. Will she choose her dream job or will she choose Barclay? Will they get their happy ever after?

This is the first time I’ve read a book by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed Bossy Nights. As soon as I started it, I couldn’t put it down. The story flowed throughout, and both characters were likable. Personally, I felt the ending was a little rushed, but I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this book to fellow readers and friends. How else would they know how things end if they don’t one-click? I look forward to reading more of her work.

EXCERPT

“Where are we going?” She turns a curious eye toward me, tilting her head to the side. I glance over my shoulder as I guide her a few steps away and around a corner.
“Trust me?” She nods, and I point to the closed door in front of us.
“The cloakroom?” she asks with a teasing smile.
“Shush,” I whisper, twisting the handle to see if it’s locked. It moves in my hand. I’m in luck.
I open the door wide enough for us both to slide inside, then leave it cracked a few inches so a sliver of light streams in. Aside from a few empty hangers on a rod, the room is bare.
“What are we doing in here?” Tessa asks, but her eager eyes give her away. She wants me as much as I want her.
“I need something from you before we join the others.” I lean forward and speak into her ear.
“What’s that?” she breathes.
“This.” I place my hands on her back. She shivers at my touch, following with a sweet sigh. My fingers trail over her velvety skin, lingering at the simple hook connecting her lone strap. If only we had more time. “Your skin’s so smooth and silky.”
I bend down and kiss her lips, and she returns it with a passion matching mine. Tessa links her fingers behind my neck, and we are lost in each other. Minutes later, when we both need to draw in a breath, I move my lips down her neck and over the exposed curves of her breasts.
“I want to taste all of you,” I say against her skin, and feel her pulse racing like mine.
Dropping to my knee, I bring my hands to the back of her toned legs, and trace the delicate skin behind her knees. Her muscles flex and release in anticipation. With a feather like touch, I inch up her thighs, finding the lacy edge of her panties. “Has anyone touched you here?”
“No one,” she blows out between labored breaths. She gazes down at me with eyes full of desire, but there’s a tentativeness in them I can’t ignore. My touches, and the promise of more between us, are new and unchartered territory for her.
I rise to my full height, changing our position. Looking down at her, I wonder if this beautiful woman is ready for what I want to do to her and what we can be together. I have to ease her into things, build her confidence. It should be her decision to freely give into the passion and trust me. Let me make her mine. I won’t push her from the base of the mountain to the peak in one night.
“I want to be the first. Are you okay with that?” I run my fingers over the curve of her shoulders.
“Yes, please,” she begs.

4.5 Stars ~ Reviewed by Anna Green on behalf of KFF

Sidebottom’s latest work didn’t disappoint. A standalone crime thriller packed with nail-biting action scenes laced with deadly riddles, there are two protagonists are featured in this story: Caelan Fen, a detective in the Met and Dr. Vanessa Griffiths. Two strangers who don’t know each other wake up in a strange place and the horror starts.

Nessa looks like the upstanding citizen, an attractive woman with a thriving career as a medical practitioner. But in every chapter each layer of her persona is revealed: a dangerous lady who knows her guns like she knows how to handle a stethoscope. Who is she really? Can her background help her quest to finish the dangerous game the Game Master has set out for her?

Detective Caelan Fen is caught in the Game Master’s web and little by little he realises that in order for his loved ones to survive, he must help Nessa and try to beat the evil puppet master in his own sport.

I have read most of this author’s books and one thing I noticed is that almost all her heroines are tough as nails, flawed but strong just like Nessa. Told in alternating points of view, this crime thriller reminds me of the TV series, 24. Each chapter starts with a timeline and the protagonists must solve each puzzle or they suffer the consequences. Every page is action filled and little by little a mystery gets unravelled.

Cleverly written, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book albeit it kept me on the edge of my seat and had me biting my finger nails. I thought I had it figured out at about three-quarters of the story, but I was so wrong. The ending though is totally the author’s style: predictably unpredictable. If you want a book that will cause you whiplash from the twists and turns you can’t keep up with, then this is it!  This story is perfect for adrenaline junkies who prefer to get their thrills from turning the pages of a book and not from jumping off an aeroplane!
