Series: The Summerhaven Trio #2
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: 3rd April, 2018
Tierney Haven and Burr O’Leary come from completely different worlds…
…but there’s a reason they say “opposites attract.”
Bookish Tierney Haven has always preferred places to people, and she especially loves the peace and quiet of Moonstone Manor, an estate museum located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, where she is head docent, chief historian and live-in caretaker. The very last thing she expects to find on the doorstep at midnight is bruised and bloodied stranger, Burr O’Leary, in desperate need of her help.
Against her better judgement and at the risk of her brothers’ wrath, Tierney offers Burr sanctuary at Moonstone Manor, and nurses him back to health, surprised to discover that the dashing, enigmatic stranger loves the history and peace of Moonstone as much as she. But Burr has a dark history, and those who hurt him will stop at nothing to eliminate him…placing Tierney in grave danger until he is well enough to find them first.

Welcome back to Moultonborough, New Hampshire. The small town with more goings on then a major metropolitan city.
Tierney Haven. The intelligent but highly shy sister of Rory, the hero in Fighting Irish gets her go round on the path of love and heartache. The lucky leading man is her polar opposite in every way, Burr O’Leary. Burr is an extremely interesting bloke. He is in an impossible situation when he crashes into Tierney’s little world, the opening scenes where tense and edgy.
This book started off as it meant to go on, two people from completely different worlds thrown together and relationships from intense situations are rarely smooth sailing.
‘She had a backbone, that was for sure—she was all of five foot and change, but she’d stood there telling him she wasn’t scared of him…
…the sharpness in her green eyes, she didn’t miss a trick, this one. Her tongue was as barbed as any Irish granny’s, and she wielded it like a weapon.’
Smiling Irish starts no more than three months after the end of Fighting Irish, and as the triplets are so close and play such a large part in each others lives; Rory, Ian and Brittany are present as much as possible. This trilogy wouldn’t work as well as it does if the siblings weren’t in each others books so much. Saying that, Rory and Ian are both very Neanderthal men when it comes to protecting their sisters virtue, oftentimes at the cost of Tierney’s own wishes. Family is immensely important to both Tierney and Burr. Not always easy nor smooth but both are centred by their roots and heritage.
Description and scenery description was where the magic began; seeing Moonstone Manor through Tierney’s eyes gave this reader a realistic image of the grounds in which she worked and superb history behind such a picturesque piece of real estate. The romance and smexy scenes were done well and there wasn’t too many. They moved the story along and made the romance between Tierney and Burr far more believable and made me root for their happily ever after that much more.
The relationship building between Tierney and Burr is done in a way that kept the book fast paced with an almost addictive element to it. Unlike the first book, this had action and suspense. Gripping and intense at times it shook and tilted like a ship in rough waters.
‘Maybe this isn’t the end of you and me, aisling.’
The use of Irish sayings and the Irish language is far improved from the previous book. It melted into the pages like cheese into an omelette. Truly Smiling Irish is my favourite of this series thus far and I can hardly wait until we get the tale of Ian and Hallie in a few months. This author has done it again and I can’t even say I’m surprised.
