This was a new author for me, but the storyline for this book was what had caught my attention and I couldn’t wait to read it.
Sophia Jennings was a child star who had practically grown up in front of the camera. Young, beautiful and talented, her life was spiralling out of control. Being famous was not all it was cracked up to be and the pressure was beginning to take its toll.
Blake Henderson. Tall, attractive and her former protector, he’d left her when she needed him the most. The reasons why soon comes to light in this book without you having to have read the first one.
A new threat to Sophia has recalled Blake back to her side. He wasn’t happy about it but he knew he couldn’t let her face this new threat alone. Fighting his feelings for Sophia was a battle he wasn’t going to win. After the years apart, his feelings for her were still there and has strong as ever. How could he protect her whilst fighting his inner demons and feelings for her. He thought he couldn’t do both.
Sophia was surprised to see Blake and wasn’t quite sure why he was back. After losing total control of her life and a stint in rehab, Sophia decides that her life needs to change in more ways than one. Blake takes Sophia to Wales to get her away from the life she doesn’t want to live and to keep her safe. There’s a twist in this book that you won’t see coming, so you’ll have to read it for yourselves and find out what it is. Realising that Blake and his family has family issues just as much as Sophia does makes their bond ever stronger. Will they find their happy ending? Both fighting demons that hopefully they can overcome and conquer.
The sensitive subject of this book was handled perfectly. Addiction is not as straightforward as you think. Realising that you have an addiction and taking control of it is the first sign of recovery. The story flowed beautifully and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I look forward to reading more works from this author.
