High school sweethearts. What a load of bull.

He might have been my first love, but it never meant I wanted to hear lyrics containing my name, love story, and *cringe* how I lost my virginity peddled out for the masses to digest.

Seven years later, and I’m still being haunted by his photo in every magazine, his music on every radio station. I thought breakups meant that you never had to see the person again. Especially when they ripped out your heart and made hamburger meat with it.

But when a chance encounter ends up going viral, I’m tied to him in a way I’ve always dreaded. And the last person on earth I’d want to spend an hour with, much less a lifetime, makes me an offer I can’t refuse. I might just be desperate enough to take it.

The girl in the song is real. And she’s made me a rich man.

I’ve been dedicating choruses to her for a decade, she’s the muse she never wanted to be. Off of our love, I’ve become famous … and a complete egomaniac.

When another one of my flings goes off the rails, and lands me in hot water with the media, my recording label is less than thrilled. And so comes the marching orders from my agent; devise a scheme to transform into a squeaky clean good guy.

Coming face to face with her is something I’ve only dreamed about. If not to win her back, then to at least apologize for the ways I’ve exploited her. Instead, I rope her into my madness, proposing a deal only a masochist would accept.

Handsome man in black suit touching sexy woman in lingerie

She thinks they’re a mistake

I’ve spent my whole life working toward my goals, being the best I can be at my job. Arrogant, persistent, pain in the skirt billionaire Colin Huntley isn’t going to change that, even if he is the hottest man I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. And pleasure is definitely something the man can deliver, without question. Our single, mind blowing night together was a mistake, though. A one-night stand brought on by a lapse in judgment. One I won’t make again, so long as I stay strong as he starts his chase. Because when Colin decides he wants something, he gets it. And he’s decided he wants me.

He always gets what he wants

Sloane McLaren may be the best VP I’ve ever had, but she taunts me every day in her tight little skirts and her librarian-fantasy glasses. Especially since that night. The one when I had her in my bed, in my shower, bent over my kitchen counter. I thought we were finally on the same page…until I woke up to cold sheets and an empty bed. She may assume it’s business as usual in the office, but I didn’t build my billion-dollar company on assumptions. I want her back in my bed, and I’m willing to play dirty to get her there.

One of the things I love most about the Temperance Falls novellas is the titles. The title is a tease and a promise like blurb. London Hale never fails to deliver a scintillatingly hot read. How on earth the authors who make up London Hale can produce such high quality reads in such a short space of time is astounding to me. Temperance Falls books are my guilty pleasure, I love how the authors throw so much into the mix, with such a steep build up and it’s all so believable.

Colin and Sloane were the type of couple that shouldn’t work as well as they do. She has so many barriers and is so pessimistic about relationships that I couldn’t help asking from the get go how Colin could EVER break through her walls.

‘Time to throw the professional barrier back up. which meant getting out of bed and putting clothes on. Soon. Maybe in a few minutes. If I could only–

“Stop it.” Colin pulled me closer and nuzzled the back of my neck. “I can hear you thinking. Quit trying to talk yourself out of staying in bed with me.”

Sloane is a unique blend of professional and smart mouth. As is typical London Hale, Sloane is able to fix her own issues when they arise and does so with style. Being a novella the story can only go so deep and the lust to love will happen quicker than it does in a full-length novel; however, London Hale never rushes it and it always feels natural and never, ever forced.

Personally, I enjoy when the authors introduce a secondary character in a book and then they become the main character in a new release. My view always shifts when this happens, I go from feeling like a mere spectator, to a kind of dirty voyeur. How any author can write a long series of books and not have it be yet another example of a ‘When Harry met Sally’ or ‘insert tab A into slot B’, by now is a true testament to their skills and abilities. I cannot wait for the next instalment ladies, thank you so very much!!!

‘All the while wondering how I got lucky enough to call this feisty, take-no-prisoners woman mine.  Wondering if she’d ever know only a woman as strong as her could happily bring me to my knees. Wondering how forever with her could possibly be long enough.’

This was a new author for me, but the blurb for this book had caught my attention. Bratva and Mafia being one of my favourite genres, I couldn’t wait to delve in.

Chiara Rossi is the daughter of a Mafia boss. Beautiful and delicate with a wilful mind. Returning home from college was something she didn’t want to do, but family responsibilities had taken its toll on her family and she was asked to help. Not only to help her family, but also accept the marriage that had been arranged for her to a Mafia member who she didn’t love.

Mikhail Ivanovich, otherwise known as Misha, is tall, handsome and cocky and a member of the Russian Bratva as are his entire family. Misha came with quite a reputation as an assassin. Everyone knew his name and were scared of it; however, no-one knew what he looked like and that was the way he liked it.

Misha’s given the job of keeping an eye on Chiara from a safe distance. Unfortunately, after taking one look at her and being instantly attracted, keeping a safe distance was not an option he was willing to take.

The chemistry between these two was instantaneous, but there was so much standing in their way. Chiara was torn between Misha and her family, especially the vulnerable members of whom needed her help and protection. Being forced into this arranged marriage was not something she wanted, and neither did Misha.

Now was the time to take action and find a way for them both to be together. It was not going to be easy but they were determined. Will Chiara and Misha get their happy ever after or will their lives be ruined by their families and responsibilities? It’s well-worth reading this book to find out and I highly recommend that you do.

I really enjoyed this book. The storyline was well-thought-out and the characters lovable. I will definitely be reading this author again and look forward to reading Dimitri’s story.

Here’s just a tease of what’s inside!

As badly as she says she wants to leave, she’s not making any moves to do so.

I step toward her, and brush my fingers through the strands of hair escaping her bun.  My fingertips stroke her neck right under her ear, and she shivers so hard I see her shoulders shake.

“Say you want me baby, and we can go upstairs right now.”

“I…”  She turns toward me, and her eyes are full of lust as she stares at my lips.  Whatever she was going to say is lost as she bites her bottom lip.  My cock twitches and grows, just at the sight of her.  I lean down to kiss her, and she steps away.  “It’s time for me to go.  Thank you for last night.”

She moves to walk away from me.  She’s going to leave me.  She thinks it’s the last time we’ll see each other, and she doesn’t even kiss me.  Why?  Doesn’t she know how I feel about her?  Doesn’t she care?

I grab her shoulders, and hold on to her as I kiss her.  I don’t let her get away.  Her mouth is hard, unyielding.  I pull her closer into my body so she can feel just how much I want her.  Her lips soften and finally part.  I need to taste her.

I need her.  Doesn’t she know?

No, she probably doesn’t, I realize.  She’s only known me for one night.  She doesn’t understand that I’ve wanted her for months.  I want her to know that I desire her, only her.  I want to build my world around her, not bring her into mine.  I want to have the normal life that neither of us were born into, and I want to share it all with her.

Melissa Silvey

Like one of her characters, Melissa doesn’t reveal much about herself at first glance. She’s shy and reserved, she’s socially awkward, and she constantly says the wrong thing at the wrong time. But if you take the time to get to know her, you’ll see she knows how to have fun! Give her a few drinks, and she’ll have you laughing and dancing in no time. In her mind, she’s the greatest dj ever, and she especially loves upbeat 80’s music. She started writing short stories and poems in elementary school, basically as soon as she picked up a pencil. When she’s not writing, and studying (the end IS near!) she enjoys watching football, hockey, and she really loves live music (live, not recorded), and she will sing off key constantly (as long as no one else is around). She’s also a huge moviephile, preferring big budget action movies. Also, she has several television shows she MUST watch, and if you interfere with her shows she will get angry! Get to know Melissa Silvey, and her characters. You might just find an awesome new friend! Title: One Shot

Series: Chances #1

Author: BJ Harvey

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: November 16, 2017

Boy meets girl, boy wins girl, boy nails girl—boy’s gone by morning.

I think for sure it must’ve been a dream because there’s no way a guy could look like that, touch me like that and be so in tune with me on every known level, and disappear, leaving me with nothing but a good story to tell my friends.
When he walks into my bar three months later, everything I thought I knew and what we’d had disappears in the blink of an eye and the blinding light of the three-carat diamond on his fiancée’s hand.

It seems what I thought was a dream is now my most complicated reality, and I’ve got absolutely no idea how to fix it – or if I even want to.

One of my favourite genres is second chance romance so if you are looking for a very emotional angst filled story this one is for you.

Kenzie, a bar manager met Millen for the first time when he came into town for a business trip. They were immediately attracted to each other but Kenzie is not into one night stands so she issued him a challenge. They instantly connected and seemed like they are onto a promising relationship but then when he left town he never got in touch again until after three months when he showed up at the bar with his fiancée, Lana, in tow.

I like Kenzie’s character she is honest, fiercely loyal and independent. Millen on the first half of the book appears to be the perfect guy but later on turned out to be weak in my opinion. His priorities and misguided family obligations do not make him a great character. The back story to Kenzie’s parents and Lana’s parents provides more drama to their complicated tale, quite interesting family dynamics there. Is Millen worthy enough to be given a second chance? He does love Kenzie but needs to man up, own his future and happiness with the woman he truly loves.

“Love isn’t perfect. It’s how you work through it all that’s important. The hard stuff, the obstacles, the highs, the lows, the triumphs and the tragedies. It’s a beautiful pain that’s always worth it if you’re both willing to work to make things right.”

“And when you find the one who you know is worth it, the one you’d do anything it took to be with, you grab hold and you don’t let go. Because the minute you do, you lose your shot.”

Millen and Kenzie’s story is an emotional rollercoaster, angsty and full of drama. One moment Millen is at the top of your book boyfriend list and in the next chapter he’s on your hit list. The author does a great job of drawing out a whirlpool of emotions from the reader with this contemporary romance and although some parts are predictable I still enjoyed reading this book.  Be prepared for the ride!

Present Day
I have tingles, and not the kind that feel great in all the right places. The ones I’m feeling right now are the hair-standing-up-on-the-back-of-your-neck, someone-walking-over-your-grave kind of feelings that you get when something bad is about to happen.
Unable to ignore them any longer, I turn around from my stock take sheet and come face to face with my worst nightmare.
Lana fucking Mason, childhood best friend turned high school nemesis and arch enemy, and…
A man stands beside her, his eyes as wide as mine and—if I’m not mistaken—he looks kind of pissed off. At me.
And just like that, this moment has just gone from bad to worse.
Hold on! I’m the one who should be annoyed, with him. It wasn’t me who did a disappearing act three months ago, and now he’s here, standing with her. Of all the fish in the sea, he had to go for the smelliest, rottenest one.
“Kenzie,” she says, all saccharine sweet, like she wouldn’t choke on the first dick that came close to her perfectly-made-up lips. “Long time no see.”
Forever wouldn’t have been long enough, Lana.
“We were in town running errands and thought we’d stop by. I wanted to let you know what I’ve been up to.” Without preamble, she holds out her hand as if she’s the Queen of Sheba and I’m a lowly minion at her bidding. But that’s the last thing I care about, given that I’m being blinded by a huge, shiny rock on her ring finger.
What in the ever-loving fuck?
I don’t get a chance to hide my surprise, or the fact that my eyes dart to Millen, his jaw twitching like crazy, his grey eyes that I remember turning molten with lust now blazing with some unreadable emotion.
Why is he angry at me when he must’ve known that I’d be here?
Lana turns her head and beams at him all doe-eyed and vomit-inducing, reaching out her arm to Millen before returning her attention to me, positioning herself to deliver the final death blow.
Then she says them. The words I don’t want to hear—let alone believe.
“I have amazing news. First, my daddy just bought this place. And second, meet Millen, my fiancé…”
Yep. Dead. Done. The see-ya-later, don’t-let-the-door-hit-your-ass-on-the-way-out kind of done.
Then Drew walks through the front door. Drew who warms my bed most nights. Finally, a friendly face.
However, one look at Lana’s expression and I know this moment has just gone from bad to plain awkward. It’s like the universe is making a joke at my expense.
Drew’s already big smile grows impossibly larger when he spots the two people standing in front of me.
“Mills!” he says, pulling Millen into a man-hug the likes of which I’ve never seen Drew hand out before. He turns to the she-bitch and wraps his arms around her too. “Lans.”
“What are you guys doing here?” Drew asks.
“You know them?” I blurt out, my brain unable to engage quick enough to care about putting a filter in place.
Millen’s eyes snap to Drew then back to me. “You know Drew?” he asks at the same time as Lana juts a hip to the side and asks Drew, “You know Kenzie?”
“Millen is my best friend from college,” Drew happily informs me, and his smile falls at the same time that all of the blood rushes from my face.
Awkward, meet Mortifying. Also here are Shame, Embarrassment, Anger, Disgust, and over in the corner there is Complete and Utter Confusion and her friend I’m Going to Have to Move to the States and Join a Women-Only Commune with Cats and Unlimited Batteries.
With nothing else to say—at least, nothing that wouldn’t take a bottle of Jack and a whole lot of time—I decide to just go with the flow and revert to my old trusty auto-pilot because seriously, what else is there for me to do?
“Soooo, would anyone like a drink?”
