Fans of Sarah Dessen, Stephanie Perkins, and Jenny Han will delight as the fireworks spark and the secrets fly in this delicious summer romance from a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author.

When Jade decided to spend the summer with her aunt in California, she thought she knew what she was getting into. But nothing could have prepared her for Quentin. Jade hasn’t been in suburbia long and even she knows her annoying (and annoyingly cute) next-door neighbor spells T-R-O-U-B-L-E.

And when Quentin learns Jade plans to spend her first American summer hiding out reading books, he refuses to be ignored. Sneaking out, staying up, and even a midnight swim, Quentin is determined to give Jade days–and nights–worth remembering.

But despite their storybook-perfect romance, every time Jade moves closer, Quentin pulls away. And when rumors of a jilted ex-girlfriend come to light, Jade knows Quentin is hiding a secret–and she’s determined to find out what it is.

Playing with my attraction to him was not fair. Not fair at all… but something I couldn’t resist. I grabbed him by the belt loop, pulling him closer, letting my robe fall open. Every moment of the night before came back to me in a flash — his smile when he first approached me, how he made me laugh at the bar, the way we’d inched closer as the night wore on. The first kiss — so strong, so passionate. The multiple orgasms as he’d fucked me on every surface in this hotel room.

But this time was different — this time, there was a swirl of anger between us. Of pain. The man wasn’t going to be gentle with me. A thought that only made my body burn brighter. Hotter.

AJ held my gaze, his eyes growing darker, his breathing too fast. He had to feel the same draw, remember the same moments. Hell, he’d bent me over this desk last night and pounded into me from behind. And now, hours later, here we were again, though with a little conflict in the way. There was no more understanding, no agreement between us on what this was or when it ended. There was only desire, tension, and that lingering sting of temper.

The room seemed to grow warmer, the attraction between us making our breaths come faster. I kept my eyes on his, kept him as close to me as he’d allow. I’d never wanted someone to break, to snap the thread of control holding them back, so much. Never wished for a man to take control and demand reparations from my body the way I did with AJ.

The way I knew I never would again with another man.

“AJ, I—”

“I shouldn’t be here. Not with the sister of the man putting us out of business.”

“Please.” I refused to let him go, pulling him closer. Nearly crying when he pressed his hips against mine. “I know how bad this is, I really do. I wish there were more that I could do to help. I wish…” I sighed, my shoulders curling. Surrendering. “I wish you were here for a repeat of last night.”

AJ dropped his gaze, his jaw clenching harder as he took me in. And yes, it may have been shameless, but I leaned back just a bit, let my robe fall over my shoulder an extra few inches. Made sure my legs were spread enough so he could catch a glimpse between my thighs. And I knew he did. I could feel how hard he was against me. This attraction definitely wasn’t one-sided.

He licked his lips, sliding his eyes up my body, past my exposed breast. “I don’t think you’d want me right now, pretty girl. I’m mad as hell.”

Fuck it. Time for a Hail Mary pass. I hooked my knee around his hip, running my toes up the back of his leg. “Mad doesn’t scare me. Never again feeling what I did last night does.”

“Mad means you’re not going to get what you had last night. No fun orgasms. No flirty stares over your shoulder while you ride my cock backward. Just pure, raw fucking.” He leaned over me, forcing me back as he ran his hand up my inner thigh. Teasing me with his fingers so close to where I wanted them. “I might even make you beg.”

A shiver racked my body followed by a surge of pride that was unavoidable. Beg? Hell no. I didn’t beg for anything. “I’d love to see you try.”

She’s my best friend’s little sister and when he asked me to give her the grand tour, he did not mean of my bedroom.

So Mr. Big has to stay under wraps… One problem, she’s the only woman I’ve ever truly loved. But with the secret I’m keeping, she’ll never love me back.

4.5 Stars ~ Reviewed by Emma-Louise on behalf of KFF

Mr. Big is a second chance romance full of angst and pain. Emma and Zach have known each other since they were kids; Zach is the best friend of her brother. History and pain keep them apart for over ten years and they spend a good portion of the first half of the story fighting how they feel for one another.

The slow boil romance is back and forth and well laid out.  Zach is a man who believes he is not a good choice for Emma, that he simply isn’t good enough for her because of who he is. Darkness swirls in his head and eats away at his self-worth. His internal battle is at times so harsh you can visualise how little worth he has in himself. The way Emma sees him is so completely different, she knows his worth.

‘Emma was now his responsibility and he had no idea what to do about it.  Once rule though: despite the years, she was still off-limits.

You’d do well to remember that.

The flashbacks in this story blend in effortlessly with the present.  These scenes give more depth of colour to the characters’ lives. The only issue I had with this book is the blurb.  It talks about a man and his large stick, and yet his stick isn’t even that prominent in the story, which to me is great.  Mr. Big was all about the love two people had for each other and the pain that surrounded them and made them doubt themselves and what they were trying to make of their future together.

The description and attention to detail when it came to London was done by an author who clearly loves London. She clearly has a great understanding on the correct method practices in how to create a good read. Mr. Big was full of secondary characters that made me laugh or made me want to punch someone. Zach’s self-deprecation was deep and black.  Self-destructive to the core and full of so much venom I feared he may poison himself before he found his way.

USA Today bestselling author Nana Malone’s love of all things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense novel she “borrowed” from her cousin.

It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She’s been in love with kick-butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination constantly channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.

While she waits for her chance at a job as a ninja assassin, Nana works out her drama, passion and sass with fictional characters every bit as brazen and kick-butt as she thinks she is.

MAVERICK by Karina Halle is LIVE!

Karina Halle’s all-new contemporary romance, MAVERICK, is LIVE!

Maverick, an all-new contemporary STANDALONE by New York Times Bestselling author Karina Halle is LIVE!!!

Maverick is a complete standalone novel and the second book about the rough and rugged Nelson brothers. Get ready for one wild alpha mountain man – Canada’s never felt so hot!

Forget playing it safe.

John “Maverick” Nelson likes to live his life on the edge – literally. A crucial member of the search and rescue team in the mountainous British Columbian town of North Ridge, Maverick’s brash and bold attitude means he’s the first one to ascend into danger, no matter the risk.

When it comes to women, though, Maverick errs on the side of caution. For all his cocky charm, rugged good looks and sexual swagger, he remains as unreachable as the surrounding peaks. Hot, wild sex? He’ll tell you there’s no better way to spend a cold, wintry night. Relationships? He’d rather freeze.

That is until he lays his eyes on American Riley Clarke. Trading in the crippling expenses of Aspen for BC, Riley is North Ridge’s newest member of their search and rescue team and the only woman on the job, which means spending a lot of time with Mav in adrenaline-pumping situations.

With the chemistry between them hot enough to melt snow, keeping their hands off each other is detriment to the success of their team. Besides, Maverick’s her boss and she didn’t work her ass off in Colorado just to throw it all away for some mind-blowing sex.

But when the worst winter in years sweeps in, Riley and Maverick will have to battle the elements along with their attraction for each other. And if either of them slip up, both of them will be in for a deep freeze.

I have been a reader of Karina Halle’s books for quite some time. Whilst I prefer her forays into the darker genres, now and again I do pick up her contemporary reads and enjoy them. Maverick is exactly that – enjoyable. Nothing more and nothing less for me. I didn’t get wholly swept up in the story or the characters. I found it an easy read and a wonderful way to while away the hours without having to think too much on the plot or figure out any twists or turns. Like I said – easy read.

Maverick covers some fairly decent plot/subject themes but I felt a little cheated, that perhaps they weren’t explored as thoroughly as they could have been. Karina’s usual steamy scenes abound in here – proportional to plot? Yes, except those scenes seemed to be together in the last third of the book, so I felt like I was getting a chunk of saucy and very little story at that point.

Some great flirty banter in Maverick too, both the characters bounced off one another and you could feel the chemistry zinging between Mav and Riley. I wasn’t an absolute fan of either character, I often felt at times they were a little shallow until the point they got their act together with one another. Their relationship was a little angsty in places but not overpoweringly so.

What I did love about this book was the setting and scenery. I don’t read these books very often and I tend to forget that snowy, mountainous imagery appeals to me. I do love stories set in this world. Through a few tense scenes, Karina managed to pull me right in with her descriptive words and imagery. I liked it a lot and for me was the best part of the book. I’d recommend Maverick if you want something easy that will warm your heart by the end.

Sarina’s books are a sure one-click for me. Just the right amount of angst, solid storylines and always perfectly paced, what I love about this series is the dual narrative, giving the reader the opportunity to connect with her protagonists’ thoughts. Bountiful is in the same highly visual and outstanding setting of Vermont as in previous books, but this time her fruit of choice are pears! Gosh, I had no idea how pears were harvested and makes for interesting trivia. She’s also introduced a sports character which I liked one of a hell of a lot–a hockey player no less! Lol, I had a feeling that Sarina couldn’t resist seeing as she’s co-authored Him and Us on a totally different line with Ellie Kennedy. And more important, you don’t need to read the the True North series in order which to my mind of thinking, is a huge plus.

Bountiful isn’t all about pears! Ooh no, there’s much more to keep the reader stuck to the pages. Zara sold me. Not only was I taken with her frankness, her stance towards the opposite sex I found refreshing. Like any young person, mistakes are made, but she’s the first one to own up to them and isn’t afraid of discussing her past with family members or who would become her bestie and business partner, Audrey. Yep, as per usual, the author’s secondary character development is first-rate. Zara’s tight-knit family are a peculiar bunch. Having protective brothers is great up to a certain point; she knows she has everything to be thankful for but one of them is a tinsy-winsy straight-faced. Now, that doesn’t mean I didn’t like him, he’s just deep–difficult to fathom out. So their concern for her well-being is understandable under the circumstances she’s in, and they’ll bend over backwards to do anything to make her life a tad easier. I didn’t even dislike one of her grumpy and opinionated uncles whose lack of filter made me chuckle until the red and white Vermont cows came home! Her lovely mum isn’t short of a few words either, and this folks isn’t a spoiler, but it did seem to me as if history was repeating itself as far as mother and daughter were concerned. However, after reflecting on Zara’s attitude regarding having a steady relationship saddened me because I thought she deserved the world. Question is, would she find her prince charming; someone special to make her change her mind and take that big step?

In he walks excluding an aura like he owned the phrase, ‘sex on legs’. Then he walks out. Leaving behind him the unimaginable, when Dave does come back, he’s going to have the shock of his life. And this folks, is when the heat of an emotional moment is turned up to a richter magnitude scale. Strappingly gorgeous, copper-haired with fathomless green eyes… notice I’m NOT swooning here, I wasn’t the only one whose knees turned to jelly. Although Dave is a very likable guy, I did have my doubts about how he’d handle his personal and professional issues. Here steps in his younger bubbly sister with sound advice and buckets of enthusiasm. Hmm, whether he listens to her is for you to find out though. I wonder if the author’s going to give me the pleasure of Bess’ own story…nudge, nudge!

There is so much more to this story than meets the eye. All the character’s involvement literally melted my heart, twisted me into pieces, teased my soul. Since I’m not partial to giving anything away, I can honestly say that if it wasn’t for a grey area I came across in the story, I would have given this read five stars at the drop of a hat. I wish I could make myself clearer about what happened. Many of you might not give importance to a detail in a scenario which I thought could have been better executed. I was left hanging, wanting to know more. Who caused such ructions and why all of a sudden it dwindled out, left me with my suspicions or better said, frustration. Saying that, this editing hiccup didn’t stop me from thoroughly enjoying the story. As always, Sarina’s writing is worthy of being savoured… Never convoluted, always hitting home, making the likes of me content to read her damn good stories, I have to say, Bravo!

GIVEAWAY & CHAPTER REVEAL                                 SICK FUX by TILLIE COLE

When Ellis Earnshaw and Heathan James met as children, they couldn’t have been more different. Ellis was loud and beautiful – all blond hair, bright laughs and smiles. Heathan was dark and brooding, and obsessed with watching things die.

The pair forged an unlikely friendship, unique and strange. Until they were ripped apart by the sick cruelty of others, separated for years, both locked in a perpetual hell.
Eleven years later, Heathan is back for his girl. Back from a place from which he thought there was no return. Back to seek revenge on those who wronged them.

Time has made Heathan’s soul darker, polluted with hatred and the thirst for blood.

Time has made Ellis a shell of her former self, a little girl lost in the vastness of her pain.

As Heathan pulls Ellis out of her mental prison, reviving the essence of who she once was, down the rabbit hole they will go.
With malice in their hearts and vengeance in their veins, they will seek out the ones who hurt and destroyed them.

One at a time.

Each one more deadly than the last.

Tick Tock.

Dark Contemporary Romance. Contains explicit sexual situations, violence, disturbingly sensitive and taboo subjects, offensive language and very mature topics. Recommended for ages 18 and over.

The first time I met Heathan James he was picking the wings off a butterfly. When I asked him why, he turned his light gray eyes my way and said, “Because I want to watch it die.”
I watched as his gaze rolled back to the squirming wingless insect in his hand. Watched his lips part as the sad creature withered and died in his palm. A long, soft breath escaped his parted lips, and a victorious smile tugged on his mouth.
I once heard of the theory that the simple flutter of a butterfly’s wings, a tiny perturbation, that merest whisper of movement in the air, could start the process of building something much bigger; a tornado, devastating thousands. A tsunami crushing iron-heavy waves onto sandy shores, obliterating everything in its path.
As I looked back on the moment we met, this introduction to Heathan James, the man who became my entire world, the pulsing marrow in my bones, I wondered if his deadly act of ripping the wings from the bright blue-and-black butterfly started such a perturbation in our lives. Not a tsunami or a tornado caused by a simple flutter, but something much darker and more sinister, caused by stripping a beautiful creature of its ability to fly, to thrive. A path of destruction no one saw coming; the sweetest, most violent deaths carried out with the gentlest of smiles on our faces and the utmost hell in our hearts.
Heathan James was never the light in my life, but instead a heavy eclipse, blotting out the sun and anything bright, bringing with him endless, eternal night and murderous tar-black blood pumping through my veins.
Heathan James was the genesis of my soul’s reawakening . . . a soul not meant for peace, but one handcrafted for death and murder and blood and bones . . .
Soulmates forged in fire, under the watchful gaze of Satan’s mocking eyes.
Just a couple of sick fux . . .

4 – 4.5 Stars ~ Reviewed by Klaire Sutherland on behalf of KFF

Sick Fux is an extremely dark book in terms of subject and content. I would advise you to HEED the graphic warning the author has at the front of the book and decide if it’s for you or not. I’m no stranger to these kinds of stories, it’s often difficult to find a good, meaty read that makes you think twice about what you are reading. All too often an author will say this is ‘dark’ and I end up disappointed because it is in fact a shade of grey and not black, the way I like them. However, Tillie Cole’s Sick Fux sits right on that dark/black line. It’s not a taboo read by any means but the subject matters are difficult to digest at times.

To say this book is clever, is an understatement. The plot is intricate in places, yet simple at other times. Sick Fux is a love story you probably won’t have ever read before. In all its messed up-glory, there are sparks of sunshine and love that give the reader a semblance of hope for both Dolly and Rabbit. Heathen and Ellis were doomed from the start, but from those characters; born were two utterly complicated beings, who are dragged into their own little world. Both are slightly mad, if not ‘off their rockers.’ And that ties in beautifully with the fairy tale of this book. Tillie’s character development was second to none, she captured both Dolly and Rabbit beautifully and conveyed that to the reader so, so well.

The first few chapters of Sick Fux are heartbreaking – in every capacity. I started reading this at 11pm, and it was the worst thing to do. Tillie Cole sucks the reader right down the rabbit hole in those few chapters, creating the catalyst for what’s to come. I felt that up to chapter four was the best of this book, a really strong start that hooks the reader in completely. I’m not saying the book dived from there – it didn’t – but I was hard pushed to find the same emotion from there on until I came to the last few chapters.

I had some technical issues with this book, like some things felt like repetition and such. While Tillie Cole penned some amazing and awe-inspiring sentences, I found some to be just ok. Felt that there were places where it could have been better. At times it read a little lazy and I didn’t understand why when so much of the writing was top class. The intensity of the story dropped a little through the middle for me. I expected to devour this book, struggle to put it down, but that was not the case. As much as the story pulls the reader from beginning to end with its fast pace, I found it all too easy to put it down and pick it back up again. Finally – the emotion. It’s there, but for me it was sparse, beginning and end being the two places I felt something more. With a book like Sick Fux I really would have liked to have felt that emotional connection the length of the book.

Did I enjoy it? Oh yeah, Sick Fux delivered on the promise of a dark read. The author managed no problem, weaving a beautifully clever and intricate piece of work. Her storytelling is quite stunning in this book. Sick Fux should romp up the charts with ease. For me though, it could have been a little ‘more.’ Highly recommended to those that like their reads with a whole lot of blood and gore. But please – heed that warning. This book is not for everyone.
