• SYNOPSIS •
Eight years ago, Cole Van Buren left me at the altar without a single explanation. My heart’s been at a standstill ever since, the anger keeping me from moving on. Keeping me from seeing the man who’s been right in front of me all this time…
Andrew’s been the friend I needed, the one constant through the hardest times of my life. But one night, the lines blur and we’re tipped into something more. Just when I’m ready to explore what we could be…
My ex comes back.
Cole says he didn’t come to get me back, but I should know better. The answers he dangles overhead are the ones I need to finally let go.
Except there’s no such thing as closure, only a past that wants to pull you backward.

Mila, Cole and Andrew. This is a story about three people but this is not your typical run-of-the-mill love triangle. Cole is an artist, he met Mila at a party thrown by her mentor. Mila is a successful businesswoman, she is strong, guarded and fierce. She was raised by her mother who reads tarot cards for a living. Andrew is Mila’s business colleague, he is her rock and provided her a shoulder to cry on at the lowest point in her life. He is her best friend but he also has more to his past.
The initial attraction between Mila and Cole was obvious right from the start, they date, fell in love and got engaged. They thought their strong bond was enough to resist temptation and withstand any opposition from families and friends but they were wrong. On the day they were supposed to get married Cole disappeared. Mila met Andrew that same day at a bar when she was drowning out her sorrows from being ditched at the altar.
Eight years on and Mila is now a very successful businesswoman and Andrew stuck by her side as her loyal best friend and as a work colleague. The sudden appearance of Cole throws her out on a loop. All these years she bitterly tried to forget what he did, she wanted nothing to do with him and yet she needs to know why it happened. And one night whilst hanging out with Andrew she sees him at a different light. Will she give Cole a chance to explain why he did what he did? Will she finally look at Andrew not only as her best friend but the man who she can spend the rest of her life with?
I am quite impressed with the author’s style of writing and how she weaves Cole’s art and incorporates it into this brilliant tale of drug addiction, betrayal, loyalty and friendship. Turning the first page is like looking at a blank canvas. As you keep on flicking through the pages you see the author’s words turn into strokes, swirls and splatters of colours. By the end of the story you look at the whole finished product as a masterpiece, a work of art. Rarely does a book create such vivid imagery inside my head. Some of the sex scenes between Cole and Mila are visually stunning and memorable. I strongly urge you to read this book you surely don’t want to miss out on this one!
5 glittering stars for Ms. Larsen!
