Release Blitz : Morrow’s Horizon by Sierra Kummings

Morrow’s Horizon, the first in an all-new series of standalones from Sierra Kummings is now LIVE!

Morrow’s Horizon by Sierra Kummings

Cover Reveal: April 7th, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Blood, and love for a special little girl, bind the five Morrow sisters in an unbreakable way. Yet the family-devoted Sara Morrow yearns for more.

And that “more” looks a lot like the irresistible Jacob Ramírez.

For years, Sara’s contented herself with toe-curling fantasies about the CFO of the bank that employs her – all the while promising herself she’d never fall for the type of passion that destroyed her parent’s marriage. But when the one and only Latin six-foot-four god accepts her offer of help and turns her fantasies into reality, she’s forced to decide if it’s worth finding out if her boss is everything she’s dreamed of, or just the manifestation of all her fears.

Jacob has his own set of fears. Right out of high school, he joined the Marines, only to come home six years later with night terrors that haunt even his days. Now, at thirty-three, rudimentary techniques keep his secret hidden.

Until a chance meeting with Sara Morrow coincides with a deception that rocks him to his core.

When Sara’s faith is tested, her sisters’ love gives her the courage to believe in someone else. When Jacob’s is tested, he has to learn how to believe in himself.

Debut novel that made a refreshing change from the norm. Morrow’s Horizon is a little bit of something special, touted as a debut I was in awe at the depth and thoroughness of this read. At about halfway through I wondered if perhaps this was written under a pen name and had a little nosy around to see if I could find anything. But nope…not a thing! I have to say, Morrow’s Horizon is an extremely accomplished piece of writing and utterly deserves to do very, very well. Debut’s tend to be rough around the edges and contain a lot of silly errors, have a plot hole or two and often times the depth of characters isn’t as it should be. This is so not the case in Sierra Kumming’s book.

The pace of the novel is good, the writing style flows naturally; I never found myself feeling the need to skip anything or found myself bored with over/under descriptive narrative. Dialogue felt very true and natural which for me is quite important, it can say a lot about how an author observes and takes note of their surroundings and I find that this then transfers into how they write. Some of the subject matters contained within Sierra Kumming’s book are difficult but I found that the author approached these empathetically and with a good knowledge and understanding of what she was writing. Again; another huge plus point for me. If an author can educate a reader, without making it seem like a lesson, then for me that author truly knows what they are doing. I think Sierra managed a little of that in Morrow’s Horizon.

Let’s talk story without giving too much away. I wouldn’t call Morrow’s Horizon a slow burner, it doesn’t read that way but sometimes the book felt that way. Perhaps it took a little longer than I liked to get into the story, was worth the wait because I hit a point and there was no turning back. I think what is pushed to the forefront of the book is the ‘family’ theme, the foundation of the story rests on these sisters and how they live their lives so closely intertwined. All have very different personalities and all fit their purpose as secondary characters. In hindsight, I think the worlds of these sisters revolves around the little girl I am hoping and praying that Sierra has plans for the rest of these ladies; she has a great series potential in these women. The main character of Morrow’s Horizon is Sara and boy what a character she is. Unafraid to voice her opinion and embrace her sexuality she is a breath of fresh air. Not overly in your face or brash or boisterous; just a woman wanting what she wants and being mindful of her responsibilities while doing so. I liked Sara Morrow, such an endearing character. Jacob Ramirez was a lot more complex than Sara that’s for sure and it took him a long while to come into his own but when he did his world opened for him. He definitely had his struggles, then again, the book wouldn’t be half of what it is without those. His demons are a crucial part of the plot.

The story itself was engaging, extremely so. Written in dual POV I think we got a greater insight into everything and I was really pleased Morrow’s Horizon was written this way. It’s my favourite way to read, I like being in the heads of both characters, I feel a greater understanding overall. There seems to be just enough of everything going on in this book. A little suspense, a little drama, a little angst, a bit of dreaming…and a whole lot of love. There are some heart-breaking moments too and Sierra Kumming’s really does put the reader through their paces. I was laughing, sniffling (because I don’t cry unless you’re pulling my heart to pieces and I don’t think the author wanted to do that here), cheering, scowling. Every emotion was enveloped within the pages of this book and it was such a pleasure to read. I was rooting for these characters the whole way. My only major grief with the book is a plot point, it’s quite a big one and didn’t seem to fit Sara’s character, it involved the manipulative woman that is Elise so perhaps that impacted on Sara’s actions during that scene. Who knows? It just didn’t quite fit for me, that was it. Nothing else.

Giving a 4 ½ star rating for a debut novel is almost unheard of for me. I’m extremely excited about this author. Sierra Kumming’s debut novel, Morrow’s Horizon, shines like a star. She has some awesome potential and I can’t wait to see how this author grows and goes from strength to strength. I’m really looking forward to what she gives us next. Sign me up, fan in the making.

Kindle Friends Forever reviewer Klaire gives this 4 ½ well deserved stars – with a side of the warm and fuzzies!

Blog Tour : The Gravity of Us by Brittainy C. Cherry

The Gravity of Us, an all-new gripping and emotional standalone from Brittainy C. Cherry is available now!

The Gravity of Us by Brittainy C. Cherry

Release Date: April 13th, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Graham Russell and I weren’t made for one another.

I was driven by emotion; he was apathetic. I dreamed while he lived in nightmares. I cried when he had no tears to shed.

Despite his frozen heart and my readiness to run, we sometimes shared seconds. Seconds when our eyes locked and we saw each other’s secrets. Seconds when his lips tasted my fears, and I breathed in his pains. Seconds when we both imagined what it would be like to love one another.

Those seconds left us floating, but when reality knocked us sideways, gravity forced us to descend.

Graham Russell wasn’t a man who knew how to love, and I wasn’t a woman who knew how to either. Yet if I had the chance to fall again, I’d fall with him forever.

Even if we were destined to crash against solid ground.

We didn’t know how to act with one another after our first kiss. Our situation wasn’t the norm when it came to building a relationship. We did everything backward. I fell in love with a boy before our first kiss, and he fell for a girl who he wasn’t allowed to have. Our connection, our heartbeats, matched one another in our fairytale world, but in reality, society deemed us as an awful accident.

Maybe we were an accident—a mistake.

Maybe we were never supposed to cross each other’s paths.

Maybe he was only meant to be a lesson in life and not a permanent mark.

But still, the way he kissed me…

Our kiss was as if heaven and hell collided together, and each choice was right and wrong at the same exact time. We kissed as if we were making a mistake and the best decision all at once. His lips made me float higher, yet somehow descend. His breaths somehow made my heart beat faster as it came to a complete halt.

Our love was everything good and bad wrapped in one kiss.

A part of me knew I should’ve regretted it, but the way his lips warmed up the cold shadows of my soul…the way he left his mark on me…

I’d never regret finding him, holding him, even if we only had those few seconds as one.

He’d always be worth those tiny seconds we shared.

He’d always be worth that soul-connecting feeling we created when our lips touched.

He’d always be the one I spent my nights dreaming of being near.

He’d always be worth it to me.

Sometimes when your heart wanted a full-length novel, the world only gave you a novella, and sometimes when you wanted forever you only had those few seconds of now.

And all I could do, all anyone could ever do, was make each moment count.

After we went home that night, we didn’t talk about it at all. Not the following week, either. I focused on Talon. Graham worked on his novel. I believed both of us were waiting for the right time to come up for us to speak about it, but that was the tricky thing about timing: it was never right.

Sometimes you just had to leap and hope you didn’t fall.

~ 4 Stars ~

Speaking for the members of the blog here; we’re all Brittainy Cherry fans I’m sure and were eagerly awaiting the fourth book in the Elements series, The Gravity of Us. Personally, I have read the previous three books and find that still, The Air He Breathes is my absolute favourite. I always think that authors have that one book in them that rises above the rest and absolutely shines. And while the Gravity of Us didn’t compare with The Air He Breathes it’s still a darned good book and has a worthy place in this series. A solid four star read.
I found the storyline quite unique, that’s what I’m looking for with each thing this author writes. Something different. Brittainy always manages to deliver it so well and in her own way. Her characters always have that ‘something’ to endear you to them, make you fall in love with them. Trust me, Graham is not an easy man to like yet somehow…. he is. The premise is simple – opposites attract and that is most certainly the case of Graham and Lucy.

“She was the girl who felt everything, and I was the man who felt nothing at all.”

With the way the story starts it’s quite difficult to predict how the whole thing is going to work out, how these two can possibly be together considering the obstacles in their way. A slow burn relationship between the two, born of necessity, flourishes into a love quite magical, both drawing out the others best and worst parts of each other. Graham is closed off, has the emotional intensity of a fish and is as cold as the North Pole, often insulting Lucy whether he realises it or not. Yet the ‘little weirdo hippie,’ as he likes to call her, takes it all in her stride and shows Graham another way to live. It’s often painful watching their interactions and that of others around them both.
I am a Lucy fan, the intensity of which was compounded the more I read and how she was treated, I felt frustrated for her often times and yes, my heart felt sorrow many times throughout this read. The same is said for how I felt toward Graham, more in the second half of the book than the first. There are some skewed plotlines and Brittainy manages to hide them pretty well bar one. One sentence early on gave the game away on a significant plot point and I saw the mess coming.
So, putting the story behind and concentrating on the delivery and the words, this is where I struggled a little. The emotion is right there, easy to get lost in but for some reason I didn’t get overwhelmed when I felt I should have. I could see the words and phrases where the impact should have been felt but didn’t get the knock backs. I’m not sure if it was how these were delivered, or on the scenes surrounding them but the effect was not there for me. Only one quotable sentence stood out and had my heart aching a little.

“My heart begins to beat again.”

The character of Lucy is the perfect ending for this series, she encompasses the elements and binds them together, and for the first time I actually felt like the books merged and complimented each other. I didn’t feel that until Lucy’s ‘little weirdo hippie’ ways came to the fore. I loved the Wiccan touches that she felt true to her heart, and they brought together a completion.
You can’t go wrong with a Brittainy Cherry book that’s for sure, I enjoyed this immensely but personally it lacked a die-hard emotional impact for me, I expected to feel more. However, many a reader will need a tissue or two and although the blurb verges on vague if I were you I’d just jump in blind. Whatever you think you get from the blurb, it’s nothing in comparison to what this author delivers. Expect your emotions to ride fast and slow and expect to come away feeling satisfied that you spent your money on another good, well written Brittainy Cherry book. I hope this author keeps giving us unique stories that we love for a long time to come.

Kindle Friends Forever reviewer Klaire recommends this read – with a smudge of Sage.

Blog Tour : Resisting my Submission by Jenna Jacob

They say first impressions mean everything. Either Maximus “Max” Gunn didn’t get the memo or he didn’t care. The gorgeous, muscle-bound Dominant’s assumption that I, Mistress Sammie, was a submissive set my blood boiling. I wanted to drive the toe of my coveted Louis Vuitton stilettos between his legs—and bring him to his knees.

But anger wasn’t the only burning emotion Max ignited inside me. The potent sexual attraction we share threatened to burn me alive, too. Unwilling to cede our Dominance, the battle for control raged like a third world war, both in and out of the dungeon. It would take a coup d’état for love to conquer our drive to command.

But when Max learns the secrets of my past, and attempts to heal my scars, I don’t know if I’ll be able to still the battle…or fall willingly to my knees.

Reviewed by Emma-Louise on behalf of #KFF

Samantha Radcliffe lived a happy and fulfilled life once, and then 9/11 happened and she lost her Husband/Master Desmond when his plane flew into the North Tower.

Left all alone to pick up the pieces of her shattered life Samantha packed up and left New York and ended up in Chicago where she met Mika, the owner of Genesis, a Bdsm members only club. No longer being able to bear being a sub, Samantha, with Mika’s help, rose from the ashes as a Dominant “Mistress Sammie”.

Fast forward 16 years and Sammie is still working and playing at Genesis; when in strolls Maximus “Max” Gunn. A dominant to the core, Max instantly assumes Sammie is a sub.

“My, my. What a lovely sight you are. Tell me, little one…are you owned?”

To which Sammie uses quick wit and her sharp tongue to put him straight. Sam’s sarcasm and sharp tongue had me in stitches…

“Sammie…Mistress Sammie.”

After having buried Samantha and her previous life for so many years, eventually, it was all bound to rise back to the surface. Max is that catalyst, at every turn Sammie sees his keen observations as insults, this leaves her raw and on edge. Defensive and spoiling for a fight. Fighting to prove she is indeed a true Dom, Sammie rips off the plasters of her pasts and leaves her and me crying our eyes out.

Max and Sammie’s relationship is as turbulent as trying to find your way through a minefield. There’s always an unarmed device, waiting to blow up in your face.

“For a woman who’d kept her emotions on a short leash for years. Max had effortlessly busted mine clean off the chain.”

Max’s calm and attentive patience wears Sam down. She begins to questions her whole life and the choices she has made. Is she a Dom or is she a true submissive?

Resisting my Submission is the 7th book in a long reaching series, it may be part of a series, but it can be read as a standalone. Sure, I may have missed the stories of other characters, but, I didn’t feel as if this distracted me from the story of Sam & Max…and what a story it was. The highs and the lows. The family at Genesis is real and protective. It didn’t matter if you were D/s, everyone was loved and protected.

“It’s time to teach that little weasel a lesson. When you mess with one of us…you mess with all of us”

Resisting my Submission was a book I could not put down. I started and finished it in practically one sitting. To say this author has become one of my favourites for Bdsm is putting it mildly. Throughout every page it is so clear to see how much research has been done on the lifestyle and the ways in which to do it RIGHT!

I applaud Ms Jacob for writing such an amazing read and I’ll certainly be looking out for future releases.

Our 5★ Review

Reviewed by Emma-Louise Lewis on behalf of KFF

What a journey Ravenous was.  My emotions were all over the map.  There were points where I was so frustrated; I almost threw my kindle across the room.  All the biggest issues in this book would have been solved if the characters talked to one another.  But I guess just like real life, we all suffer this problem.  This is what makes these characters so real.  The author fleshed out her characters to the point that to me, in places it was as if I were an unwanted voyeur.  The heartache and pain in Ravenous made my mind race and my heart bleed.

Raven, Brecken and Porter, all broken people in one way or another and each is struggling through life, surviving, but not really living.

Raven is an independent 21 year old.  In college and working to support her little sister Chrissy, when one day her best friend Emma tells her she has started a new job as an Escort.  Seeing how much money she could earn, Raven signs up and this is how she meets the identical twins Porter and Brecken; but more importantly where the story becomes intense and riveting.

“Never in my life had I felt an electric current just seeing a woman until her, and I couldn’t show that to her”

“For the first time, I wondered what it would be like to pay someone for a night of their time. Because I wanted to have her”.

Ravenous is the type of book that leaves you torn; Indecisive about where you want Raven to go and which brother to end up with.

“My throat dried out and my heart thumped in my chest, ‘I know the feeling.  I was thinking of you…and your brother…just moments before you appeared behind me.’ I didn’t know how to respond to him, so I chose to stay quiet.”

As the story progresses more and more is thrown at Raven both in her personal and her love life, it becomes very apparent that she is truly torn between which brother to choose.

“You’ll remember that you can’t want both of them.  You need to want neither of them”.

“I just know I’m not good enough for you”.

Raven sees herself as a girl from the wrong side of the tracks and that she isn’t worthy of being coveted and treasured by a “real, true and decent man”.

It broke my heart that she truly just saw herself as the daughter of a drug addict who deserved no more than she had and that men like Porter and Brecken could never really love her for her, if they knew the cold harsh truth of her upbringing, and how she had had to fight tooth and nail to get where she was.

“Her eyes widened, and she worked her lip with her teeth again. ‘I’m not a forever kind of girl.’  It was like someone had sucker-punched me in the gut at her soft words.  This woman thought little to nothing of herself.”

“How do you read my mind?

Don’t you see yet? I see you, Raven”.

Raven is driven by the need to protect her little sister, to give her the kind of life she never had at her age.  Fed.  Safe.  Loved.  All the things any child shouldn’t have to ask for; the basics ANY parent should tear themselves up to provide.

The emotions in Ravenous were palpable; the lows were so low at times I almost forgot to breathe.  Toing and throwing back and forth until the very end.

“Because the heart doesn’t have a timeline.  Is there supposed to be some sort of schedule to falling in love? I don’t think so.  Some people wait a lifetime to find this, and others feel it the first time they meet the person that’s meant for them.”

“For a girl who was never shown love by the people that were supposed to model the selfless emotion, Raven just offered me her entire heart without abandon”.

I knew where my heart wanted Raven to end up. And, with any really good book, you just are never sure until at least the last 10% or so, how it will all unfold. I’m super impressed with how the author dealt with some of the taboo topics in Ravenous. I have never read this author before this, but I’ll certainly be making sure from now on to watch for any future releases.  Which leads me to point out; there will be a sequel to Ravenous…Insatiable is coming out this summer and is about the other Kingsley twin…I cannot wait to watch that one unfold.  I have no doubt it’ll be another equally scintillating and satisfying train wreck!

But as soon as Cara meets Brad and his adorable little girl, she knows she’s in for a world of trouble. Because there’s something about the way Brad looks at her that makes her believe that some rules are meant to be broken…

He was tapping on my bedroom window. It was 2:17 in the morning.

I got out of bed, dressed in sweatpants and black T-shirt and slapped the window open. He practically fell through it, adorable in his wet tuxedo and red eyes.

“You’re drunk.”

“I like you. I want you to like me.”

“Go to bed.”

He leaned back out the window, paused. “Do you like me?”

“Against my better judgment, I do.”

He was so drunk he could barely stand.

“Please go to bed.”

He gave me a salute and walked right through a sprinkler, toward the front house. I closed the window. Brad was lying in the grass facedown, arms and legs in a big X, getting sprinkled on.

I could leave him out there.

I could, he deserved it. But I couldn’t.

I put on sneakers and a hoodie and went outside. He was face-first in a mud puddle. The sprinklers had shut off.

He didn’t move. I pulled his arm until he was on his back, then pulled both wrists and pulled forward. If I’m making it sound easy, it wasn’t. I slipped and fell in wet grass, and grunted like a tennis player. But I got him to sitting. Half his gorgeous face was dotted with mud.

No answer. I slapped him. Nothing. Slapped again, harder. He groaned.

Then I pulled my arm back and really hauled off and whacked him.

“You have to wake up. I can’t carry you.”

“That hurt.”

I crouched, getting my shoulder under his arm.

“Okay, I’m going to count to three. On three, stand up.”

“Do you know you’re beautiful?”

“And you smell like a fruit cup.”

He looked at me, the weight of his head tilting his face at an angle to mine.

“You’re the queen of the house.”

We lurched up. Took a step left. Adjusted. Stood steady.

“Can I just sleep here?”

“No. Nicole isn’t going to find your drunk ass on the lawn in the morning. Lean on me.”

We took one step forward, then two. I held his wrist with one hand and his waist with the other. The front of his tuxedo shirt was brown with mud. I got wet wherever his clothes touched me.

“Do you have fantasies, ever?” He hopped onto a new subject as if it was completely natural.

“Like about what?” I asked. His arm around me, his breath soft in my ear. Even his dependence was kind of a fantasy.

“You know what bothers me about fantasies?”

“Watch this chair here. Whoa.” I pulled him left, narrowly missing tripping over a lounger.

“You never know if you’re getting it right,” he said.

I turned to him, and found his eyes taking up my entire field of vision and my nose two inches from his.

“Like when I fantasize about fucking you.”

We almost tripped on the entrance. I swallowed my lungs, stomach, and heart in one gulp. He was drunk. He didn’t mean it. He never thought about fucking me.

Not Brad Sinclair.

He was my boss.

About the Author

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up she’s at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She’s frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn’t ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.
