I met Bianca in an elevator.
She was on her way to interview me when we got stuck.
The beautiful, raven-haired reporter assumed I was a delivery guy because of the way I was dressed.
She had no clue I was really Dex Truitt, the wealthy, successful businessman she’d dubbed “Mister Moneybags”—her afternoon appointment.
Bianca told me how much she hated Dex’s type—snobby, over educated, silver- spooned men who didn’t appreciate the simple things in life.
So, after the elevator finally started moving again, I cancelled the interview and let her believe I was someone I wasn’t—a bike messenger named Jay. I loved the way she looked at the fake me and didn’t want it to end.
I began dating her as “Jay”—all the while letting her interview the real me over email.
I didn’t expect that our chemistry online would be just as hot.
I didn’t expect the mess I’d gotten myself into.
I didn’t expect that Jay and Dex would fall in love with her.
And she was falling for two men.
Only, both men were me.
And when she found out, we were both going to lose her.
Nothing could have prepared me for that day. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for what came after.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

~ 4 stars ~
Remarkably quirky wit and suggestive innuendos pour forth in one of many farcical scenarios in the first chapter, drawing me effortlessly into this standalone. And as always when these two authors team up, their humorous writing qualities work in perfect tandem. After co-authoring three contemporary romance novels, Vi and Penelope still haven’t lost their innovative storytelling sparkle and still have a way of keeping the reader guessing. How their stories pan out regardless of being a tad on the absurd side are always something to look forward to. You’ll know what I mean if you’ve had the pleasure of meeting up with a lovable mascot which tends to pop up every now and then! Yes, all their books are a joy to read and Mister Moneybags is no less entertaining. It was exactly what I expected it to be. Light-hearted, laugh-out-loud, touchingly sentimental and just enough angst to make it emotional. In other words, stellar reading material for whenever the occasion arises; but be careful, you might have trouble putting it down. Of course, entangling the plot with the drop-dead gorgeous male protagonist’s shenanigans who I thought should have known better, had me either swooning, rolling my eyes at him or yearning for more of his dirty talk.
“You’re warning me against you?”
I’d be letting the ‘animalito’ out of the bag if I told you the leading man’s name so I’m not going to lol. Nonetheless, what can be said is he surprises himself by doing things completely out of character. And although this sounds kinda weird, observing how he’d dug a hole for himself only to sit back and enjoy watching how his modus operandi backfired was what kept me stuck to the pages. Yep, I honestly felt he deserved what was coming and hoped he wasn’t going to be let off too easily. But he’s a truly nice guy and as the title implies, rolling in it. Ahh, but there’s a catch here which sold me! Now then, in all my stupidity, I assumed that when you’re not short of a penny or two, have business savvy and strongly believe honesty is the best policy, affaires d’amour wouldn’t be an issue! Well, in this case, no! Loved, loved, loved the twist!
“If you have nothing to hide, show me.”
Unbeknownst to Bianca George, the outcome of a fleeting moment sets the plot in motion giving her no option but to accept changes and improvise. Mister Moneybags has decided to reveal all and only to her for the time being. I couldn’t help but like this young lady who’s eager to get to know how he ticks and why he’s been so secretive about his past. Any semblance of normalcy in their business relationship was for me the late night texting where he’d supposedly open up to her. Saying that, I really liked how he turned the tables and wouldn’t give anything away for free… quid pro quo isn’t in it! And ooh boy, true to the authors’ duo writing style, they offered me moments of exceptionally good banter! And just over a third into the read, bam! Bianca’s heating things up with a dastardly proposal. Clever gal. I could have jumped into my Kindle and hugged her!
“How open-minded are you?”
“Are you propositioning me, Ms. George?”
In fact, what makes this read so engrossing is listening to everyone’s point of view. Why I mention this is because for one of them, two’s company, three’s crowd. It sounds confusing, doesn’t it? But there’s no direct cheating for those of you who are concerned about this; however, trust issues abound, complications set in and to my way of thinking, the narration couldn’t have been better executed.
“Take a chance on me, Georgy Girl. Take a chance.”
Who’s determined to woo Bianca deserves a kudo for taking up a tricky activity and sticking to it. While it fitted into the story like a kid glove, trying impress her with his new skill not only causes frustration, but had me grinning from ear to ear. I easily envisaged his blunders, and even though I knew of this craft, I had no idea of its name.
“…I plan to whittle you the world, baby.”
I have to thank the authors for the slow build up and for describing the two main characters’ feelings in such an emotionally sensitive manner. Their story is by no means overridden with hot scenes which in my opinion, would have totally spoilt a romance meriting the seriousness it was given. The storyline, per se, is original and never did I expect the last 25 % to be so riveting. Final words. Mister Moneybags is most definitely one-clickable! Bravo ladies!
