We’re celebrating the release of STROKED HARD!
Check out KFF’s review and teasers below!
He’s hot. Like, stop breathing kind of hot with his killer body, vivid blue eyes, and constant five o’clock shadow.
Did I mention his body?
Watching Hollis Knightly, Olympic diving gold medalist, man-pony specialist—and cocky bastard—stand up on the diving platform in nothing but a small piece of Spandex? Yeah, I’m beguiled.
And easily seduced.
I want to keep things light but he won’t leave me alone. And hell, if he’s not wearing me thin.
What is supposed to be a simple summer fling with a very hot man, has now morphed into a f*cked-up mess of feelings, attachment, and dare I say it…love. But I don’t do relationships. And Hollis Knightly does.
Guaranteed laugh out loud moments, Meghan’s new release has much more to offer than what I’d normally expect from her. In fact, the added sentimental touch couldn’t have been better! She still ceases to amaze me with her colourful usage of words and phrases, and her knack for making them work perfectly alongside contrary characters is nothing less than ingenious. We meet up with Reese, Brody and the loves of their lives again and if you haven’t read their stories, no worries. . . it can be read as a standalone. Doesn’t everyone like a bit of banter? Well, get ready for it ‘cause there’s no stopping them having a dig at each other.
Ooh my goodness me! Hollis Knightly is every woman’s dream come true. I simply couldn’t find fault with him. He’s the perfect gentleman regardless of his hmm. . . imaginative endearments. You really have to read it to appreciate his good sense of humour, witty edge and so quick of the mark, too. He has strong ideas about what he wants for the future and who he wants to share it with. But it’s not a bed of roses. Do you believe in love at first sight? Well, as I can speak from experience, I knew exactly how he felt when it wasn’t reciprocated. Hollis has to go about wooing the ONE for him in ways difficult to believe. With an untiring perseverance and unrelenting energy, I thought he would eventually run out of steam. But he never gives up hope. Oops, I forget to mention that his dazzling looks and his mischievous smile had me swooning something stupid. And his taste in reading material, ooh boy. . . that’ll make you grin and understand ahem, why he’s such an expert in a certain field.
“He’s just touchy and hopeful. He doesn’t take no for an answer.”
I really liked how Ms Quinn developed Hollis’ backstory. Actually, it was of utmost importance for me to understand why he’s eaten up with guilt. In the split of a second, the course of someone’s life was changed forever. He blames himself, is weighed down with guilt and suffers in silence. Just how badly it had affected him saddened me so much that my heart went out to him.
“I’m ashamed at myself. I feel so guilty for the loss I’ve caused you, it’s tearing me up inside.”
Melony’s problem is a major one. A past issue consumes her to such extremes that she’s convinced herself that men are never to be trusted. Seeing that she has her mother’s unquestionable love, support and advice, why she couldn’t see reason frustrated me. At one point, I didn’t think she deserved the affections of a man so worthy. But all said and done, without her stubbornness, the story wouldn’t have been the same. She’s a real beauty, doesn’t flaunt it or go out of her way to attract the opposite sex. Comfortable in her own skin, her only wish is to get on with life without any complications. However, Hollis becomes a thorn in her side and as hard as she tries to avoid him, he keeps turning up like a bad penny. Gosh, did I lap up his insistent text messages to her! Chuckle away to my heart’s content isn’t in it!
“She’s shy about her feelings for me. Isn’t that right, baby cakes?”
“I’m going to kick you in the balls.”
Even though Stroked Hard is low on drama, some profound moments made me a tad nervous. A spanner’s thrown into the works, the horizon looked dimmer than dim and I prepared myself for the worst. If I’d slowly warmed to Melony, in one scene I could have gladly given her a good talking to. In others, the heat between these two love birds had me fanning myself!
“. . . if I’m the one who gets to pick what you wear on the diving platform, then I pick a rainbow throng.”
Bellini shows her face once again. And it so happens that it’s Melony’s job to make sure her melodramatic boss is looking good at all times. You’ll see why I call this obnoxiously intolerant person Bellini Deville! The star I love to hate won’t know what’s hit her. Not ashamed to say she was the cause of my delight, I’m going to miss her ridiculous antics!
“I hope you enjoy your newly exfoliated pube brush, you dumb bitch.”
I love how the author tells her protagonists’ story from a dual point of view and in present tense. She’s a dab hand at cheering up any reader who needs to be distracted for whatever reason. Maybe you’re asking yourselves why I awarded this book four stars seeing as I liked it so much? Melony’s fault totally. But please don’t be swayed into thinking this isn’t a worthy read though. It is! It’s just a personal opinion. Looking forward to more from Ms Quinn. BRAVO!
A couple of fun facts:
● Fun fact: don’t ever challenge Hollis Knightly. He will win.
● “Fun fact, did you know I’m a conservationist?”
“No, I did not know that.”
“Well, I am. I’m cool as shit like Leonardo DiCaprio and Orlando Bloom and drive a Prius.”
Reese King: Olympic medalist, underwear model, Greek god.
His body is chiseled from rock, sculpted by the weight room, and refined by water.
On a daily basis his skin is completely bare for everyone to see, tan and defined, only covered up by a minuscule piece of spandex. There is no denying his sex appeal.
I hate to admit it, but I’m head over heels infatuated with him.
There is one HUGE problem though. His achingly gorgeous abs, inked up arm, and cocky swagger belong to my boss, the high-profile, reality star bitch from hell and certified heinous human being, Bellini Chambers.
What I think is going to be an easy job assisting a glorified wench turns into a cluster f*ck of epic proportions.
From his dirty-blond hair and breathtaking smile, to the abs from heaven and the irresistible V in his waistline, everything about Bodi Olympic-gold-medalist Banks screams hot piece of @$$.
Yet there’s more.
Dark shadows lurk behind his soulful, serious eyes.
I’m enamored. He’s captured me.
How can running an art foundation with Bodi Banks turns into a slow-burning, epic romance, even though he tries to push me away at every chance? How can I stay away from a broken, routine-driven man whose soul cries to be forgiven for a crime only he believes he committed? Or is that a lie?
