Kindle Friends Forever: 5 ★ Review by Sharon Thérèse
**ARC generously given in exchange for an honest review**
The author’s versatile writing really shines through in the fourth book of the Hades Hangmen series. It was as if I was reading two completely different styles which melded into one as the story progresses. This technique fitted perfectly into an incredibly well thought out plot and only seemed to enhance the characters’ personalities and the circumstances they found themselves in. Once again, I am in awe of Tillie. She has gone above and beyond my expectations in a book that I had been waiting impatiently for. My heartstrings were pulled further than I thought possible; tender moments had me taking a deep breath, and I had my doubts as to whether or not I’d be able to get to the end unscathed. But I can assure you that every page turned was worth it. And I’d like to mention the opening of this story. Although I thought I had all the details of Souls Unfractured under control, the prologue gave me a little push in the right direction and from then on in, everything came flowing back. Chapter one starts off in present day and get this, there’s little dialogue since the male protagonist tells of the awful predicament he’s in. The banter picks ups in chapter two and told from another character’s point of view. Told in past tense, I can’t tell you how much I liked delving into three minds with all their dilemmas; their distresses, their right and wrong doings. Who are these guys that managed to bring out so many emotions in me, then?
“You have a conflicted conscience in a damned and evil world.”
Here goes! Those of you that have read the three previous books in the series are more than familiar with this MC club’s issues and what the members have been up against. We are also aware who Cain, aka Rider is and the relationship he had had with them in the past and his position in The Order. What he and others go through inside the cult caused me deep sorrow. What happens to him on the outside, too. One might say he deserved to be punished, but I beg to differ. My opinion might well be disputed as practices of the most degrading and immoral kind are rife and although extremely unpleasant; a fact that still exists. Then Styx. This man is going to have to make a difficult decision which really disturbed me. But there is a ray of light at the end of the tunnel. Mentioning no names, she is the strongest; the sassiest, and has no compunction fighting tooth and nail for what she wants regardless of her horrendous past.
“Before the women. You and I were unbreakable. A fuckin’ ruthless unit. Now . . . “
Never could I have imagined the ginormous twist that was coming. Well, three actually. Left aghast, I was a tad frustrated with myself as I hadn’t cottoned on until the cat was let out of the bag and the second and third one pleasantly surprised me. Cain tells all in such a way that made me in the figurative sense, come undone. The question is this. How will the outcome of these truths affect everyone involved? Does Cain even want forgiveness? Having my feelings pushed to the limit in the last quarter of the book resulted in me sobbing my heart. So much so that I didn’t bother drying my tears.
“You have been the only good I’ve ever known. You’ve been the heaven I was searching for after all. Not the faith, or the prayers . . . just you . . . only you.”
Redemption, freedom and justice. These three nouns which are the backbone of this read are so strongly defined that in all honesty, their meanings take on one hell of a new perspective. What enchanted me more than anything was meeting up again with Styx, Mae and Ky damn it, has a very special place in my heart as does his lovely wife, Lilah. Flame, Maddie, Cain’s one and only friend, newbies in the club, all of them play a part and have their say.
“I don’t have the words, other than sorry. If I could take it back, I would in a second.”
This was one of the hardest reviews I have written. I didn’t read the synopsis and I’d really like you to do the same. The element of surprise will astound you and more besides. Tillie, as you can see I’m not exactly lost for words but there are two which I shall use to sum up this read. EPIC and BRAVO!

Title: Stealing Home
Author: Nicole Williams
Release Date: 9th July, 2016
Genre: N/A Sport Romance
Being the only woman working for a professional baseball team isn’t easy. As the San Diego Shock’s newest athletic trainer, Allie knows all about long hours, endless travel, and warding off players’ advances. Given she’s already the subject of a handful of rumors about how “lucky” she was to have earned such a coveted position, she can’t so much as flutter an eyelash a player’s way if she wants to be taken seriously.
But number eleven is doing more than fluttering eyelashes Allie’s way. Far more. Luke Archer is at the top of his game and doesn’t let the fear of striking out keep him from swinging. This is a motto he applies both on and off the field, but Allie appears immune, seeming to view Luke as nothing more than caution tape on legs.
He’s a player, and in Allie’s experience, they’re all the same. She won’t risk her job or her heart to another one, no matter how different this one claims to be. But as Allie gets to know him, she discovers the number eleven the public thinks they know is very different from the real Luke Archer. He seems too good to be true.
And maybe he is.
Allie will have to confront the stories attached to a player of Luke Archer’s stature and decide who she’ll put her faith in—The man she’s falling for? Or the rumors?
Kindle Friends Forever: 4 ~4.5 Star Review by Sharon Thérèse
KFF are suckers for sport romance. And regardless of whether us Brits are tuned into baseball or not, give us a team of players, (pun unintended), and we’re game! I have only read one book by this author which floored me, turned me upside down and inside out. So my surprise was tenfold when I started reading this one. There is no doubt whatsoever the Ms Williams’ versatility is commendable. And this read worked just as well for me as the other one but with a difference. If you want angst, twists and turns at every corner and a complicated plot, you won’t get it because Stealing Home is light, sweet, sad and beautiful all rolled into one. A perfect summer read. That being said, it grabbed me from the very first chapter to the last written word. Told in first person in past tense, this was one of those very rare occasions I didn’t miss the male protagonist’s point of view. And the reason is quite simple. The banter that flows freely and naturally made me feel like I was there alongside the characters.
“Sorry, Doc. I didn’t think you’d catch me in the act.”
Who isn’t a romantic at heart? I didn’t get the impression that Luke Archer was that way inclined but oh boy; how very mistaken I was. At the top of his career, fans adore him and respect from his peers, he has. Goodness me, I adored him, too! Falling head over heels for Luke was virtually instant and I had no doubt that patience would be his virtue. Yet I needed to know more about the whys and wherefores of his stance towards the gal who’d caught his eye. How he’d cope with his feeling and his concern for so much that was at stake. We are all aware that more often than not, the most successful sports professionals’ fame goes to their head. This is not the case with Luke. I couldn’t have wished to meet a humbler guy. Ooh, and I forgot to mention that he’s drop-dead gorgeous!
“He’s careful because women look at him and see a windfall.”
I easily imagined why Allie Eden wanted to excel. A newbie in the athletic trainers’ team, she’d worked damn hard to get where she is in a man’s world and loves her job. Her opinions are held in high regard by Coach Beckett but eyed with scepticism by those above her. And the last thing on her mind is getting involved with one of the players and putting her job in jeopardy. Circumstances determine that Allie and Luke spend more time together after an unfortunate occurrence. Blinkin’ heck, the attraction between them is sizzling! You’ll have to fan the flames ladies because the pages come alight with passion.
“Don’t make me have to do even filthier things to you in my head than I’m already doing.”
However, like any good love story, it’s not a bed of roses for these two. Unspoken words turn into misunderstandings and unmade promises become a point of confusion. Hmm, I wanted to give Allie a good talking to more than once. Luke couldn’t put a foot wrong with me and his sisters are such delightful lasses. Luke and Allie’s relationship enthralled me. I sighed, cried, laughed out loud and smiled from ear to ear. The character development is par excellent; the plot, impeccable and the ending… hahaha, not telling! Faultless grammar; yeah, I’m a grammar monster and what else can I say except bravo Ms Williams!
“I didn’t make you a promise.”
“Just because you didn’t verbalize it doesn’t mean you didn’t make one.”
When the photographer announced he was going to commence shooting, I turned my head away, focusing on the space just over Archer’s shoulder. “You didn’t know I existed before last night,” I said quietly, so no one else in the room could hear.
“I’ve known you’ve existed from the first day you walked out onto the diamond at spring practice.” He was back to barely moving his lips, managing to hold a sexy-as-hell smirk as he stared at the camera.
“And why was last night the first time you ever said anything to me?”
His eyes darted my way for a moment. “Because you didn’t seem like the type who was open to mixing business with pleasure, and I respected that.”
“That’s why we’re in our present situation?” I glanced down at myself, where his jersey was floating a good foot above my knees. “Because you respected my policy on that topic?”
The corner of his mouth twitched, the lights of the camera flashing in his eyes. “Hey, even a patient man has his limits.” With that, the position of his bat moved so the end of it was nuzzled into my backside. Which meant his fist curled around it was all up in my butt’s business too.
His crooked smile became more pronounced.
The photographer whistled, I guess approving of whatever feedback he was getting on his end of the camera. “Every woman in America wants to be you right now, sweetheart.”
Archer grunted, his knuckles digging a little deeper into my ass. “More like every guy in America wants to be me right now.”
I did my best to stay still and, you know, keep from hyperventilating. The heat from the lights, combined with the heat spilling from his body, was stifling. With his cleats on and me being barefoot, Luke Archer seemed that much taller. With my petite body pressed up against his, his frame seemed that much more imposing. With his arms snug around me, I could feel the strength he possessed. It was the kind that was meant for power. The kind that told me he could do anything he wanted to me and I’d be helpless to stop it. It was thrilling at the same time it was terrifying.
A few minutes later, my heart still thudding so hard I prayed he couldn’t hear it, the skin between Archer’s brows creased. “When will the magazines go up for auction?”
“In two months. Don’t worry, we’ll send you one.” The photographer continued to snap photo after photo.
“Yeah, I’m going to need more than that.”
“How many more?”
The crease deepened. I was trying to keep my head turned away from him, but my eyes weren’t so capable of the task.
“Eh, thirty? Maybe forty? Just enough for every wall in my apartment. Don’t worry, I’ll pay whatever the auction price winds up being.”
My forehead creased. “Every wall in your apartment?”
“I like my name on your back.”
The way he said it, like it should have been obvious and required no explanation, made me smile. “Such a caveman.”
“If I was a caveman, I’d tell you where I’d rather have my name on you.” Archer’s fist pressed into my backside enough to smash me closer to him. “Tattooed on you so you couldn’t just take it off or wash it off.”
“Wow, okay, so I retract my former accusation in favor of labeling you some barbarian-Neanderthal-caveman hybrid.”
“Before you form any more unfavorable opinions of me, let me just remind you that I’m a baseball player.” When I arched a brow at him, he continued, “I’m good with my hands, know what to do with a big stick, and am used to getting dirty.”
I had to bite my lip to keep from smiling. I didn’t want him to think I found any of what he’d said endearing, even though I kind of did.
With my hand tucked behind his back, I pinched at his side. “Only in baseball is someone highly skilled if they hit one third of the balls thrown in their direction.”
His plastered on smolder fell when he shot me a wounded expression. “Sure Coach doesn’t have you around to keep our egos in check?”
“A pro baseball player’s ego? No amount of insults could keep that in check.” I felt my straight face falter as he threw me another injured look.
“Oh, please. You like it.”
“Yeah”—he tipped his hips into me just enough—“I do.”
I nearly leapt through the ceiling when I felt him hard against me, but I recovered. Eventually.
“Everything okay?” the photographer asked, not sounding like he really cared.
Archer waited for me to answer.
“Everything’s great,” I muttered.
“Thanks. I get that a lot.” Archer’s eyes were spilling amusement.
Grumbling under my breath, I did my best to stay cool and collected through the remainder of the shoot. I felt the opposite though.
After a minute, Archer must have noticed the frustrated look on my face. “Sorry,” he whispered.
“Sorry for what?” I asked. “That I’m wearing nothing but your jersey? That I somehow wound up in this photo shoot when I had no idea I’d be posing for Sports Anonymous with Luke Archer? Or are you sorry for your erection you clearly can’t control when I’m stuck sandwiched between you and a baseball bat?”
Archer lowered his head so his mouth was beside my ear. “I’m sorry if my ‘erection’ makes you uncomfortable.”
“But not sorry because you have one, right?”
His head shook slowly. “No, not sorry for that.”
“Of course not.”
When he shrugged, the band of muscle beneath his chest moved against my hand. “At least now you know.”
“At least now I know what?”
“How I feel.”
I blew out a breath. “Yeah, I have a really good idea how you feel. Thanks for clearing it up.”
The harder Archer fought his smile, the more pronounced his dimple became. The auction price for these issues just spiked a grand or two. The children’s hospital could thank me later.
“You know how this game works. I know how.” He paused, letting that settle in the space between us. “You just have to decide if you want to play.”
“Because you have decided?”
His bat pressed deeper into my back, drawing me impossibly closer to his body. His arousal settled hard into the side of my stomach. “Doc, I’m already playing.”
