First and foremost, I would like to say thank you forgiving me the chance to review this novel as I love all Bella’s books and this one is no exception.
We first meet Gracie doing her job as a bounty hunter and I will admit I laughed out loud because the person she was after thinks it’s all a joke and on TV, too. Gracie is out to prove that she can in fact work in a man’s world as a bounty hunter and wants the big jobs. This strong and independent young woman feels she proved herself enough. She also feels she doesn’t belong in her family who are completely different from her. All bar her dad that has given his daughter all the love and support she’s ever needed; but, and here’s the big but, unbeknownst to him, her mother and Gracie’s sister let her know just how unwanted she is.
Anyway, Gracie has been given a big bounty. Her mission is to go after a male who has skipped bail for the murder of his sister. However, she has the surprise of her life when she realises she’d already met this gorgeously attractive hunk of a man in a night club a few days before. Chemistry was most definitely there, so she decides the easiest way to get close to him is by using all her flirtatious womanly charms. A relationship is formed based on lies and very high emotions, and she also learns some shocking truths about Raide Knox.
Raide Knox. What a pure alpha male he is! Built like Hercules and on the run, only he knows who the real killer is. He’s out to get the murderer of his sister, but keeps bumping into Gracie and starts calling her a stalker. Eventually he lets her in, feelings start to become real and he tells her the truth about that night with his sister. She believes him, agrees to help while at the same time, tries to get him to turn himself in. One night Raide finds out the truth and this betrayal not only causes him go ballistic, but also causes a massive fight. I’m not going to tell you what he does before going on the run, but I will tell you that things get worse for Gracie.
The author’s character development of Gracie’s mother and sister is nothing less than brilliant. I really hated these two individuals with a passion and you’ll see why as you read on. They are caught being damned right nasty to her and what with her job being on the line, Gracie has to go to extremes to find the killer of Raide’s sister. Wow! The twists and turns really had me on edge and I never expected such a suspenseful plot.
Grace and Raide’s lives are in danger. Will there be happy ending for both of them? Can the police help catch the real killer or is Raide going down for something he didn’t do? Read it and find out. I love this author’s writings and can’t wait to read more about the fab secondary characters. Five well-deserved stars.
