Being Lily Parnell’s best friend came effortlessly for Jack. Growing up together, Jack loved Lily and was fiercely protective of her and for almost all of his life all he wanted was to make her happy. When she was happy he was happy, except Lily lived a world away from him now and Jack missed her dreadfully.
As far as Jack was concerned there had never been a time in their lives where they hadn’t shared everything and he valued their special bond. In recent years Lily’s ambitions took her overseas and even with an ocean between them, Jack still managed to support his best friend.
One day things changed everything between them and their relationship began to shift. Lily had carved her own life and after observing a scene involving her, it made Jack take a close look at his own.
Life post-Lily left Jack feeling confused and he decided to take a difficult decision, never realising the potential fallout from doing something he strongly felt was the right thing at the time.
With his life laid bare and as a simple, uncomplicated guy he thought he had finally figured things out. Women loved Jack but they had all come and gone in his life apart from Lily. She was always there until one day she wasn’t.
A revelation by Lily left Jack feeling betrayed and abandoned by the one person who he thought he could rely on no matter what.
During his journey from that moment on Jack faced more separation and loss than he could have ever imagined. How would his experiences shape him as a man and would he ever find it in his heart to forgive?
Rick cracked the door open and padded through it hacking a cough and reaching for the mini-bar. “Mornin’ Lothario.” He croaked in my direction without making eye contact, reading the labels.
Chuckling loudly, there was just no way I was going to live down that after party Mark was talking about, but when I took in the sight of him I couldn’t help but throw a come-back at him.
Did your mother send you that get up, or are the pyjamas supposed to turn the women in your room off enough to leave?”
Rick looked down and smirked at the wine coloured paisley patterned silk pyjama bottoms he was wearing.
Waving his hand at the chair for me to sit down he pulled a glass and poured himself a miniature of gin and a small bottle of tonic water into it. “Long story.”
“Can’t wait.” My hurried comment was followed up with a wide grin as I settled back in the chair with one leg crossed over the other, my ankle resting on my knee.
“Allergy. I’ve got a rash from the starch on the hotel sheets the other night.”
As soon as he said that I knew he was going to regret it and I could see from the startled look on his face he’d been caught off guard and didn’t mean to be so open about it. He knew he’d walked right into something that I’d use against him, even if I was managing to keep my face straight.
“A rash?” I couldn’t keep the humour out of my voice, and there was even the hint of a breakthrough giggle in those two words.
Rick stared pointedly at me as if to say, “Laugh and tear you a new one,” but my sense of humour just overrode any potential fall-out consequences he may have been planning.
“That’s a bit like saying I got pregnant from the sheets, Rick. Don’t you think you’re more likely to have caught something from one of the women in your bed than the sheets? Or don’t you want to believe that just in case you get pussy-fright?
Rick threw the lid of the gin bottle at me and it bounced off my forehead but by that time I was chuckling loudly. “Laugh all you want, I’m allergic to starch. So they got me these from the hotel store because I needed something to make sure I was protected in bed. It was fucking murder trying to play with the itch in my pants the night before last.”
“Most guys wear condoms for protection, Rick not theatrical pyjamas.”
Rick was being deadly serious but the more he spoke the more uncontrollable my laughing became until he stood up and pulled them down to show me the red welts on his legs, his dick at eye level with me. Just as he did this, the door opened and the two girls he had in his bed came through the door.
Turning my head to look at them, I was still stifling a grin. Rick was true to form and had two classic groupies for his sleepover, skinny girls with big tits, no bras, dyed blonde hair with black roots dressed in the usual rock-chick attire of leather mini-skirts, fishnet stockings and tight dark brown and cream t-shirts with the ‘Cobham Street’ motif on them.
“Sorry ladies, I was just about to part-take would either of you like to join me?”
My quip was out before I’d even thought about it. Hell, I was probably going to be sacked after this, but I grinned widely and Rick smacked me around the head, making me cry out— partly in surprise, partly out of pain.
“You’re such a smart ass Jack Cunningham.” Pivoting the top half if his body in their direction he gestured at me with his hand, his pyjamas still at his ankles. “I was just showing him my rash.”
Laughing raucously I stared helplessly at Rick taking in his pathetic form with the patterned material draped around his feet and his dick dangling in front of him. As soon as I knew he felt the need to explain what was happening all of my professionalism suddenly deserted me and I was struggling to catch my breath, let alone stop laughing. The skinnier one of the girls gave a loud snort, then her resolve was gone and she joined in laughing, but I think she was laughing because mine was so infectious more than anything else.
Rick continued protesting his innocence when suddenly the second girl who had been standing staring deadpan erupted in the oddest hee-haw laugh I’ve ever heard in my life. The look on Rick’s face was a picture as he gawped in disbelief with his jaw open taking in all of us laughing hysterically at his expense. I was sure he was going react badly, but even at that I just couldn’t get it together at all.
Rick bent down and pulled his pyjamas up, which I found even funnier for no particular reason and this set off a fresh bout of laughter. Striding over to open the door, Rick waved a finger in the direction of the two women and Jed made short work of evacuating them from the scene. All I could do was watch helplessly because I couldn’t get my laughing fit under control, and I was sure I was going to be next to be thrown out, but probably via the roof terrace.
Closing the door again, Rick bent forward, his hands on his knees and he suddenly cracked up with laughter. “Jack fucking Cunningham, I should bury my size eleven up your ass for what just happened there, and I don’t understand why I can’t…I fucking love you, dude. You have no idea what a breath of fresh air you are in a world full of ‘yes men’. How the fuck have you been?”
K. L. Shandwick lives on the outskirts of London. She started writing after a challenge by a friend when she commented on a book she read. The result of this was “The Everything Trilogy.” Her background has been mainly in the health and social care sector in the U.K. She is still currently a freelance or self- employed professional in this field. Her books tend to focus on the relationships of the main characters. Writing is a form of escapism for her and she is just as excited to find out where her characters take her as she is when she reads another author’s work.
Riley Tanner has a best friend, the best friend a girl could ask for. He’s supportive, loyal, honest, trustworthy, kind, and thoughtful. He’s also the biggest player in school. Their relationship has always been easy and affectionate, but after Riley’s month long vacation, things become a little strange. She starts to look at him in ways that go way beyond the ‘friend zone’. Add in her best friend’s rival, and things become a whole lot more complicated.
They say that your school years are supposed to be the best years of your life, and that you should make the most of them because you’ll miss them when you’re all grown up. Up until Maisie Preston’s senior year, she would have totally agreed with that statement. Life was great; she had everything going for her, excellent grades, great parents, an annoying yet caring twin brother, and an impossibly sweet boyfriend.
Everything was perfect — that is until the arrival of Zach Anderson. A misfit delinquent that seemed to bring with him a lot of bad karma. Is it just a coincidence that his arrival marks a significant change in Maisie’s life? Up until senior year, life was perfect, but things seem to be going downhill fast.
This is a companion novel for ‘Always You’ — though this novel stands alone so there is no need to read Always You first.
Kirsty Moseley has always been a passionate reader since she was a little girl, devouring books overnight, barely sleeping and paying for it at school the next day. Writing has come similarly to her and once she discovered Wattpad, she finally plucked up the courage to post one of her stories. Seven million reads later, she self-published her debut novel THE BOY WHO SNEAKS IN MY BEDROOM WINDOW, which later became one of 10 Finalists for the 2012 Goodreads’ Choice Awards, Best YA Fiction. Shocked and overwhelmed by the response, she published her second novel ALWAYS YOU a few months later.
If she had to sum herself up in one word, it would probably be ‘daydreamer’ – but unlike most of her school teachers, she doesn’t necessarily view that as a bad thing. After all, she read somewhere once that books are like waking dreams….

This is the third book in the Rocker Series by Gina Whitney and a book that was certainly worth waiting for. A welcome return to our two main characters. Gia and Abel.
The story continues straight off from book two with both Gia and Abel blissfully engaged and waiting the arrival of their baby. Hooray you may say; finally these two characters will have their happy ending. But will they ?
Their passion is as strong as ever, and their love for each other shone continuously throughout the book. It got to the point where I was insanely jealous and wondering if Abel had a brother with piercings and tattoos.
He was her Dom, her protector, yet both were still battling their inner demons.
The band members of Lethal Abel were still going strong and still making great music together. They could all count on each other and be supportive when needed, and the need arose when the traumatic events of Abel and Gia’s baby’s arrival.
Gia was unwell after the birth of her baby and spent some time in the hospital unaware of what was going on. The weirdest of dreams would enter her head leaving her wondering just what they meant. Throughout this time Abel was trying to cope with his feelings, but the craving of an old habit rose to the surface. No way in hell would he jeopardise his relationship with Gia and the responsibilities that came with being a new father. The physical and emotional support they gave to each other would see them through anything.
Finally, the preparations for another exciting event was well under way. Both Abel and Gia were at peace with themselves and each other and at last the time was right for them both to eternally commit to each other.
Gina Whitney, what can I say? Yet again you bring me a book worthy of more than five stars. My excitement for Avenging Us hitting my kindle was indescribable. Your style of writing continues to bring your books to life and your characters come together as one. A perfect match, you would say. Abel the perfect Alpha male that all the ladies want in their man. Did I mention the piercings? No I don’t think I did, lol. Gia, the perfect beauty that one man craves. Yup, I’m still jealous! Thank you for a rivetingly enjoyable read. I sincerely hope this is not the last time we hear from Abel and Gia. Congratulations. You deserve it.

Okay… let’s be honest here! This read is ‘chick lit’, pure and simple but since erotica has taken the book world by storm, it’s a genre that has been left behind and forgotten. Don’t get us wrong, we love erotica and this author, Kat French, also writes under another name, Kitty French, which for those of you who don’t know this, is her erotica pen name. However, this read offers a touch more than your usual light-hearted romance associated with ‘chick lit’. In fact, we would go so far as saying it’s a stand-up-and laugh-out-aloud tragedy. And to top the lot, British to the core so for you American readers, get the Oxford dictionary ready because you’ll most likely need it.
‘’I’m Honey by the way.’’ ‘’Well that’s ridiculous. What’s your real name?’ ‘’Honey is my real name. Well it’s Honeysuckle, actually.’’ ‘’F**k me. That’s even more ridiculous.’’
Two neighbours who have completely different backgrounds and personalities clashing on a tsunami scale, made us wonder right up until the last chapter if the author was going to offer us a happy ending. It was a piece of cake relating to both leading characters regardless of their huge differences. Those differences being the foundation for Hal and Honeysuckle’s story. And boy oh boy, do they know how to rub one another up the wrong way! Oh yes, and her name we found so fitting for such a ‘honeyed’ and generous-hearted gal in her late twenties.
Honey ~ ‘’You weren’t kidding when you said you don’t do chat, were you?’’ Hal ~ ‘’If you were looking for Oprah you knocked on the wrong door, sweetheart’’
Hal. Ex chef extraordinaire, ex adrenaline freak, well, just about ex everything, has turned his back on the life he once had because of a dire handicap he’s having trouble living with. Not only does he wallow in self-pity, but he’s also as stubborn as an ox, constantly stroppy and when he does open his mouth, he’s downright offensive! Goodness gracious, the author has really gone to town describing his uncivilised ways and one-liners mixed with dry humorous satire. When he can get his hands on a drop of alcohol, he demolishes it regardless of the time of day. And even though he’s drop-dead gorgeous, he couldn’t care less about his appearance. The attraction palpates between them in most peculiar of places and the conversation is at times, very one-sided. Yet he still wants nothing to do with this Good Samaritan living next door. However, she’s hell-bent on helping him and perhaps he could ‘lend a hand or something else’ which would solve her problem, too. He is the perfect candidate and despite the offering, is not prepared to give in to her persuasion.
Hal ~ ‘’Don’t treat me like your fucking project, Honeysuckle. I’m not some endangered goddamn panda that you get to come over and visit with bamboo sticks to tempt me out of my hut.”
Giving her what she has never experienced might just get her two besties off her back at the same time. Why? Because Honey’s besties are on a mission. She’s not at all willing to go along with Tash and Nell’s idea that they’d conjured up while shopping with these two feisty gals in a rather colourful store. Fall over backwards laughing, we did! She’d rather go along with them than put up a fight. So their decision to get her out of her ‘dry spell’ and much more is put into action. Take note of the title here because it is so relevant to Honey’s story.
Honey ~ “I’m no prude, I like sex. I just never had an orgasm. It’s no big deal.”
In the meantime, Honey has a job to do which complicates by the minute. The charity shop she runs is in danger of closing down along with a retirement home both directed by Christopher. Obnoxious, deceitful and cold-blooded towards the feelings of the home’s residents, he will give Honey a run for her money. And wait for it, the most gripping of old folk you could ever wish to meet had us cracking up over their flowery banter.
Hal ~ “Go inside Strawberry Girl. Go to bed. I shouldn’t have kissed you. I won’t do it again.”
Ms French is a marvellous storyteller! Our only niggle, and it was just a slight niggle, was we did feel she held back a tad in this novel. We thought it could have been spiced up a bit in the sex department but having said that, this is ‘chick lit’ and we have to say this read is right up there with the best! What we both really missed was an epilogue. We felt that Hal and his Strawberry girl deserved a real send off. Saying that, the author’s story is well-structured, her leading and secondary characters are extremely well-developed, the story beautifully written and grammatically faultless. Bravo Ms French for a fresh and captivating page-flipping read.
Kat was born and raised in the heart of the Black Country, where she still lives with her husband, two little boys and the oldest cat in the world. She grew up with a healthy obsession for books, and several years ago she promised her husband she would write novels if Santa gave her a macbook for Christmas. It’s a promise she is very glad to have kept. She’s a disorganised mum, fairy light lover, and champion wine drinker.
Slightly less smutty alter-ego of Kitty French, USA Today bestselling smut fictionista, writes no holds barred romance, sexy escapist reads hot enough to burn your fingers! The Lucien Knight Trilogy has been an erotic best-seller around the world, and her last book, Genie, was published on February 26th 2015.
