Book Two: Jax’s Story
I believe in soul mates. Why? Because I have one and her name is Lily Madison.
I’ve loved Lily my whole life; she’s all I’ve ever known. But sometimes, when something has always been there, it’s hard to recognize it for what it is. I didn’t realize how deeply Lily was ingrained in every fabric of my soul until I felt her absence.
Sometimes in life, once choices are made and paths are altered, it is often impossible to go back.
I know this because I stand here with a two-carat engagement ring in my hand, waiting to ask someone to be my wife. I’m ready to love and cherish her ‘til death do us part. But, there’s just one problem.
She isn’t Lily.
Will the choices that have been made change our path forever or can fate find its way?
God, I love her. I cradle her face between my hands, staring into her eyes for a beat before I crash my lips against hers taking her in a soul devouring kiss. Taking what’s mine. What I want. What I’ve always wanted.

This is the second offering of the story about Lily and Jax who have known each other all of their lives. We saw them go through their childhood years together and into young adult life in college. We learnt how nothing ever works out how one would expect. This is told a lot more from Jax’s point of view with also parts of Lily’s. It starts off with the prologue when Jax delivers news to Lily that sends her world crashing down around her. It then goes back in time showing why Jax decides to do what he does leading up to where he told Lily.
Quote ~ Lily: “You already lost me. I just didn’t know it.”
Stella: “Hey.” “You okay.”
Jax: “Yeah, I’ll be fine.”
Stella: “How did it go?”
Jax: “Horrible.” “But I guess as good as it could have.”
Back in time and in college, Jax is having a tough time juggling his college work, football and the long distance relationship with Lily entwined from the added pressure of his father. He makes a decision as something has to give, but it’s a heart breaking one. His roommates who make an appearance, are great characters, as does Stella who is the study partner of Jax. When we met Stella in the first instalment, I thought there was more to her. Jax’s POV gives us an incite into that. Let me tell you I was in floods of tears reading this. Ellie has a habit of reducing me to tears with her stories.
Quote ~ Jax: “How long have you known?”
Stella: “Since Monday. I wanted to wait until I had all the information before I told you.”
I had a very heavy heart writing this review and so much to say but as always, not wanting to give too much away. It’s full of emotion, hurt, and growth of the characters involved planning their futures. Lily is trying to continue as best as she can with her life in New York until she is asked to do a favour for Jax. And I asked myself why she kept torturing herself. Why both of them do it to each other as they are clearly still in love!
Quote ~ Jax: “God, Lil. I’m so fucking sorry. I can’t even tell you how bad I feel right now. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you today. I’m just… ah!” “This is all so hard. I don’t know how to make it right.”
Lily: “I don’t think there is a right way to do this.” “I think it’s just going to take time.”
A Forever Kind Of Love is exactly what it is. Learning through life’s ups and downs to realise it’s a journey, and that’s what Lily and Jax do. Learn and love. I highly recommend reading this two part series. I really cannot praise Ellie enough as an author fairly new to the book world. This lady certainly knows how to tell a story tugging at our heartstrings with every emotion. I have read a lot of books and it has to be said that she deserves all the success; as much as the big named authors. Angst, hotness and everything you could possibly want from a book that has been conveyed beautifully. One last thing; when it comes down to Ellie Wade’s storytelling, “I can’t help falling in love.”
Ellie Wade resides in southwest Michigan with her husband, three young children, and two dogs. She has a Master’s degree in education from Eastern Michigan University and is a huge University of Michigan sports fan. She loves the beauty of her home state, especially the lakes and the gorgeous autumn weather. When she is not writing, you will find her reading, snuggled up with her kiddos, or spending time with family and friends. She loves traveling and exploring new places with her family.
