The rules:

No dating.

No sex outside of the game.

No disclosing the terms of the contract.

Rules were made to be broken, right?

A best friend to talk about him to.

 Meet Sadie

“And I kissed him when we were in his office.”

“How was his office?”

“Really?  That’s what you want to know.  Not how was the kiss or aren’t you in breach of your contract?  How was his office?”

“You can tell a lot about a man by his office.”

I gulp another unladylike sip from my wine glass.  “His office was beautiful.  Sleek, overlooking the city.  It oozed power.”

“Nice.  Bet he fucks like he owns you.”

The thought of what he’s like in bed is enough to make me lose my train of thought.

“Go on,” Sadie prods.

I don’t continue immediately.

“You forgot what you were up to because you were thinking of him fucking you like he owns you, didn’t you?”  My best friend smirks knowingly.

“Shut up.”  I pause.  “Anyway, I don’t know what I’m going to do.”

“Well, him.  Obviously.”

“I wish it were that easy.”

Reviewed by Sharon Thérèse Nuttall on behalf of Kindle Friends Forever.

In this book the author has shown me that there is no limit to her versatility. The storyline is well plotted out, her characters’ personalities are extremely well developed and above all, it is clear to see that she’s done her homework regarding the Hollywood scene. I was thirty-five percent into this read and was forced to put this book down; however, I can assure you that I didn’t want to! This was when I was able to make my first solid opinion. “God forbid; this is a hellishly good read,” I said to myself! On very rare occasions do I start to write a review before finishing a book, and this was the case! I am also aware that one shouldn’t start off a review like this either as I am actually summing up…

But let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of what appears to be an enthralling triangle where the reader wants each of the main protagonists to come out tops! Obviously, this is asking too much; all said and done, someone has to be the loser. Who will it be I asked myself? Yes, the story of Kate Monroe, Cooper Montgomery and Flynn Beckham is most certainly intriguing!

Quote: “Good things don’t usually come easy. And I love a challenge.”

I’m really not one for letting on; nevertheless, to get you in the picture; please excuse the pun because this story revolves around the movie world and reality shows, is not only about a contest, but also about who will win Kate’s heart.

Quote: “She’s my girl next door. Looks sweet and innocent, but she has a streak of something wild.”

Kate is between a rock and a hard place. She thinks she knows what’s best for her, but sometimes doing the right thing isn’t always the best option. She’s temporarily parked her doctorate in physical therapy, and even though she’s inherited her abilities to play a mean game of poker from her father which helps her economically, it’s not enough. Now she’s competing in a reality show and she needs to win. Why? The answer will be divulged in the story!

Quote: “Hearing that he is showing any sign of improvement, physical or mental, lifts my heart. I’m already glad I came.”

And not only that, who do you think is producing the show? None other than Cooper’s brother, Miles! I didn’t like this man from the very beginning of the story. He’s not business savvy, is eaten up with jealousy and harbours a grudge against his oldest brother. Saying that, the author has deftly described his obnoxious persona to perfection. And Kate. Deary me! She had no alternative but to sign on the bottom line of his contract with more fraternising clauses in it than for her own good.

Quote: “Violation of any of the terms of the contract will result in forfeiture of any prizes. And you can, and will, be sued for breach of contract.”

Coop Montgomery is the drop-dead gorgeous CEO of one of the most successful movie production companies in LA. I could envisage him so clearly while writing this review! Dazzling green eyes with shiny black hair just touching his white shirt collar and dressed in an Armani suit is my kind of man. Not to mention rippling muscles in all the right places. Domineering when he should be, considerate, highly professional and a real hotty. Mind you, Coop’s controlled world will come tumbling down in brackets when he meets up with Kate. He’ll do things quite inappropriate to his character just to have more time with her. The sexual tension palpitates to such a degree that I was indeed tempted me to put the air-conditioning on; and it’s winter!

Quote: “We don’t take IOUs,” I tease. She looks me in the eye. “It’s my phone number. Didn’t think any of you would want my lipstick or a tampon.”

Flynn Beckham rocks! Mmm, sexy, tattooed, and knows how to turn on the charm. This promising rock star is without a doubt, attractive and a ladies man. He loves them, they love him. I did, too! One problem though. In spite of the fact that female participants are gradually being eliminated from Throb, the reality show, he only has eyes for a lass who is still in the game but won’t let her barriers down. “Or will she?” you may ask.

Quote: “Not to be a pig here, but Jesus, Kate, you look like you might have an orgasm.”

Of course, throw a spanner in the works for good measure and one is assured of a good read. Animosity between the two brothers is laid on thick. And the secondary characters play a huge part in the making; add the author’s knack of describing her protagonists’ moods which is quite incredible, et voilá! At times I felt my frustration with them would get the better of me. I could have quite happily strangled one of them!

Quote: “My whole mood has changed and I know I’m acting like a jerk for taking it out on her, yet I can’t seem to bring color to my own self-induced grey mood.”

Throb is outstandingly absorbing, sensual and emotional. You might even shed a tear or two. So my recommendation to you folks is just read it. I can honestly say that you’ll be hooked well before you reach the end. A quicky to the author. You have unequivocally outdone yourself! Bravo!

LAST HIT: RELOADED: (A Hitman Novella) by Jessica Clare and Jen Frederick.

Title: Last Hit: Reloaded

Author: Jessica Clare and Jen Frederick

Age group: Adult

Genre: Romantic Suspense

Release date: 20th January 2015

Congrats & Happy Release to Jen Frederick & Jessica Clare!

Last Hit: Reloaded is on tour!

Nickolai & Daisy’s Story continues…

There was a time when Nick loved the fear he instilled in his enemies. His tattoos alone promised danger, but it was the look in his eyes that delivered on it. A contract killer since he was just a boy, Nick has now forged a new life and a new identity with the woman who followed him, captured him, and changed him.

He terrified Daisy. Once. But she couldn’t resist, and she ignored every warning. It paid off. Now she’s part of a new beginning, a fresh start in America helping him to leave behind a reckless and violent past as a professional killer. But the past is never easy to outrun, especially when so much of it thrives on revenge.

A new threat has emerged from the shadows, and now Nick and Daisy have no choice but to rely on Nick’s killer skills to protect them from everything they’ve tried so hard to escape.

Between each caress I tell her how she consumes me. “I think of you always. Art is about passion. In every curve, I see your breast and in every face, I see your lips. In rolling hills of landscapes, I envision the dip in your waist and the rise of your hip. In the tendrils of vines, I see your honey hair entangling me.” The depths of my obsession are laid bare for her. If I were to lose her, I would be nothing. I would burn myself to ashes so that the winds could carry me to the four corners and where each molecule would search endlessly for her.

“You’re always with me, Nick. In my heart and mind and soul. I promise you,” she gasps.

“Then show me how much you want me to fill you. Show me your desire.”

As he turns away, I call to him softly, “Detective McFadden, I would not endanger a soul on that campus. My beloved attends classes there, and it is my greatest desire that she be safe and happy. There are many reasons why I am not the man you seek.”

He swings back quickly. “I don’t think you are the university shooter, if that’s what you’re implying.”

“I imply nothing. I am responding to your litany of complaints and questions about my existence. Your attention does not frighten me, but do not mistake this. If you endanger Daisy or her father in any way, there will not be enough pieces left of you for even your loved ones to identify.”

At my threat, he gives me a bemused smile. “But you don’t give a rat’s ass about yourself?”

“I can take care of myself, Detective, and anyone that I love.” The chill is seeping into my bones, and I need to go inside and warm myself in the sunshine of Daisy’s love. “Good evening to you.” I nod and open the front door of the building.

First of all, please note that to understand the characters and really enjoy the storyline of this book, it should be read after Last Hit and Last Breath in this order. I love this series and was so excited to get the chance to review this novella as the two protagonists are without a doubt, my favourite couple.

We met Daisy and Nikolai in the first novel where we learnt that Daisy had led a sheltered life due to her mother being murdered, and her dad keeping her locked away from the outside world. Nick, aka Nikolai, is a Russian contract killer who happens to see Daisy when on a job. He believes she is the one for him. When Daisy is kidnapped, Nick knows he has one last hit to save the love of his life.

However, in this novel Daisy and Nick are now settled in college and fixing up their apartment. But Daisy wants friends as she has never had one, and is finding it hard to make them. Until one day she meets Christine and her boyfriend. All is not as it seems with Christine and Daisy wants to help her.

Meanwhile, Nick is enjoying his new life with his Daisy and tries to give her encouragement. Until he himself stumbles across murders that are happening in his neighbourhood. His gut instinct is telling him that there’s more to these murders than meets the eye. He needs to protect his love. Can he once again save Daisy from events that have taken place? And what does a dirty cop want with Nick? Read it and find out.

All in all, I effortlessly loved this extremely well written and descriptive book on all points! I loved the way both authors have come together to write a beautiful story which had me turning page after page to get to the end as quickly as possible. Yes, it compellingly held my attention throughout. Not only does this read merit the five star rating I have awarded, but I am indeed looking forward to having the next one in my hands. Well done ladies and keep up the good work!

 3.5 STARS

Reviewed by Dawn Vickers on behalf of Kindle Friends Forever

First off, I was really excited when I knew I’d be reviewing this book, but this isn’t the typical teacher/student story I have read before. Secondly, be prepared and have tissues!

Beautiful Burn was a quick read and felt it was rushed in places. When the story starts, they already have a history and I would have liked to have read more about them prior to that. The story is told entirely from Reed West’s point of view apart from the prologue and epilogue. I felt this lets the story down somewhat. I would have loved this book so much more if it had been a dual point of view. I wanted to know Auburn’s feelings; how she faced things and not just Reed. Maybe this is why I never felt fully connected or invested in the characters. This takes place when they meet at a summer writing class where Reed is teaching. She’s twenty-one and he’s twenty-eight which means they were both adults. So for me,  it didn’t feel as taboo as it was meant too!

Reed and Auburn formed a connection to each other while she was in his high school class. He the teacher, she the student. They had a close friendship but it never went any further than that. However, they never forgot one another. A few years later, Auburn comes back to town for the summer and enrols in his writing class. The feelings and connection they have is stronger than ever and easily reignited. They have a passionate hot relationship and the sex is off the charts, and boy do they go at it!!! Reed and Auburn feel this is now their time, but things aren’t easy. Living in a small town and people judging what they do makes Reed want to keep their affair a secret, He has complications in his life so when they are found out by someone, is when the relationship starts to be tested. Reed must decide what he wants to do. Will they step out of the shadows and embrace their relationship openly? Auburn is also feeling the pressure. What happens when she returns to college? Will their relationship survive long distance? Falling in love isn’t always hearts and flowers, skipping in the meadows and singing from the roof tops. What follows is a lot of angst, heartbreak and love… then the twist… be prepared! I’m saying no more!

Overall it’s a good story, nevertheless, it didn’t blow me away. There were some editing issues and mistakes that need addressing. I felt parts of the book were rushed and not detailed enough. It needed more back story about Reed and Auburn but as I said earlier, if this had been written from a dual point of view, it would have been a lot better. There were some truly emotional moving scenes and those were beautifully written only making me want more.

Title: Strip Back

Author: Ava Manello

Age group: Adult

Genre: Contemporary Erotica

Release date: 26th November 2014

Strip Back brings you back to how the Naked Night’s began. This is Eric’s story. Back when life was a little less polished, and a whole lot harder.

Before there was Strip Teaser, there was Eric; manager and founder of the Naked Night’s male stripper troupe.

You wouldn’t think you’d be past it at 34, but that’s the position Eric found himself in, as well as newly single after finding his girlfriend in a compromising position.

Setting up the Naked Night’s wasn’t easy, it wasn’t fun, and it wasn’t without sleaze, but somehow he did it.

Strip Back is a humorous and steamy tale of one man’s journey to fulfill a dream. Not all male strippers are the same.

Reviewed by Donna Elsegood for Kindle Friends Forever.

I had previously read and thoroughly enjoyed Strip Teaser (Naked Night’s #1) and was delighted to hear Ava was going to write Eric’s Story. But I am ashamed to say it has sat on my kindle for a while and I am pleased that I finally decided to devour it.

Firstly, at thirty-four, Eric discovers from his sleazy boss that he is too old to be head stripper. This gives him a push in the right direction. Making his dream a reality and forming his own group but more tastefully than what he had been used to. So let’s take a step back when Eric sets up the strip tease dancing troupe. How he overcomes all the problems of bringing together a show that would eventually become successful but with a price tag attached wasn’t an easy feat. Eric wants a dance troupe that do not strip down completely leaving nothing to the imagination, therefore he sets about finding a venue and advertising to hold auditions.

Eric has had past conquests that meant nothing until he meets Christy who is an American working temporarily in the UK. They embark on a very passionate love affair; however, both try to guard their hearts as they know it cannot last due to circumstances. These two certainly have some very steamy scenes and I really liked the way they interacted with each other. Talking and laughing as well as the pure attraction made them such a sweet couple.

I was totally besotted with the male and female characters in this story. The author certainly knows how to create good strong characters. I do not want to give too much away as this is a novella. There is also a very good playlist to this book which is definitely worth listening to. And whilst I would love to read more from these characters, it’s on my understanding that it’s not the normal contemporary erotic genre most read. Perhaps because it’s not about bikers, rockers or CEOs which may prove more popular. My interest in this series was purely for reading a little something different from the norm, certainly not for the hot strippers who feature in it! “Essentially they were for intensive research purposes!” I jokingly quote.

A very well deserved five stars and my fingers are crossed as I’d love to read more about the super-hot men of Naked Nights.

Passionate reader, blogger, publisher, and author. I love nothing more than helping other Indie authors publish their books be that reviewing, beta reading, formatting or proofreading,

I love erotic suspense that’s well written and engages the reader, and I love promoting the heck out of it over on my book blog.

I’m a mother, but most of all, I’m me!

This is a wonderfully sweet romantic story that touches your heart; pulls at it, breaks it, then puts it back together again! Be prepared to get emotional!

In the beginning, we get an insight into the lives of Josie and Kyle and what ultimately led each of them to the town of Torey Hope. Josie has felt unloved and unwanted her entire life. She has no self-worth or confidence in herself, and she knows she has to get away and start her life again.

Devastated by a personal tragedy, Kyle’s life is in a “black hole.” He decides he has to get away and accepts an offer from his old school friend. He and Josie are on separate journeys to Torey Hope, but their paths are about to cross and change them forever.

When they meet, they hit it off and become close friends, both recognising the pain the other is suffering. They are there for each other in every way as friends; however, a different kind of feeling slowly emerges which goes beyond just being friends. As Kyle’s so damaged and broken by tragedy, he suffered telling Josie he can never love again. He can’t offer anything but friendship but the heart wants what the heart wants. With a nudge from a very unlikely source, Kyle realises Josie is for him. Is he too late? Someone is watching Josie and hell-bent on destroying any happiness she has found. Can these two lost broken people finally have happiness and love together or once again, will it be cruelly snatched away?

I totally fell for the characters in this book. Torey Hope sounds like my kind of town! It was easy to love Josie … soft, gentle, caring and loving even after everything she had been through. And Kyle! A hot tattooed broken man who slowly comes back to life thanks to her. The passion and connection these two have is plain to see and the story is full of heart-breaking, tear-jerking, sweet tender moments that make you feel connected to these two protagonists. I did not want to put this outstanding read down once I started! Beautifully written and from both points of view, I highly recommend this book!

This book will be available on Kobo, iBooks, Nook SOON (if it’s not already!)

Warning. This review does contain a very large and important spoiler!

Get Your Rocks Off? is the most anticipated second book of this series; for me it was anyway. After reading book one, Off Your Rocker, the author left us with the biggest cliff-hanger I have ever come across. I’m very lucky to have been able to review this book.

Just a small recap. In Off Your Rocker, Colt and Lia had finally come together. Even though a few obstacles were thrown in their way, they managed to resolve them and we thought yes, this is it! A happy ever after. But no! Tragedy strikes when you least expect it. Well, it did for this couple.

Get Your Rocks Off? revolves around a tragic accident causing overwhelming feelings of torment for these two protagonists. Once again, they’d have to overcome numerous amount of hurdles to be able to get on with their lives. Or would the fateful events of that day tear them apart forever?

We were left wondering if Colt would be able to cope with what life was throwing at him. Would he let his former addiction take hold of him again? Would Lia survive? Physiologically and mentally … time would tell. Survive she did; however, the consequences that would devastate them both actually brings them closer together more than ever.

If I’m honest, there were moments in this book that brought tears to my eyes. No-one should have to go through what they both had to. My heart went out to them. Life was not going to be easy, but by supporting each other and with love from friends and family, I had a feeling things would be fine. And they were. Until a blast from the past lashes out when a uninvited visitor unexpectedly turns up! A seven year old secret yet again turns their worlds upside down. Would this catalyst finally bring everything to an end? Is love alone enough to combat an extremely dire state of affairs?

I found this review very hard to write as the only way I could write it would be to include the biggest spoiler of all . And I apologise for that.

A note for the author. THANK YOU! I remember when I read book one and frantically searched for you on Facebook to find out when book two was going to be released. Fortunately, you didn’t make me wait too long. Your book is a fine piece of work. The situation Colt and Lia found themselves in was handled with great care and attention and I applaud you for that. A perfectly written book that kept me on edge at all times made this book a most enjoyable read.

I’m sitting here, holding Lia’s hand. It’s cold and she’s pale white. So I just sit and stare, at nothing – waiting. Waiting for what exactly, I don’t know. It’s not like she’s suddenly going to wake up. I stare at her beautiful face, so lifeless and still. I don’t know why I let go of her hand. I was holding her so tight even with all those people around. I should have held on – I should have fought harder. I failed, and now all I have before me is a motionless body of the woman I love beyond anything I’ve ever loved in my entire life. If I could be in her place, I would gladly swap.

They say the moment before you die your life flashes before your eyes. I wonder if anything like that happened to Lia? I wonder if she felt nothing but bliss before she flat-lined? I hope so, and I hope that wherever her soul is right now that she’s happy and not looking down on the mess that I am without her.
