To say that this is an unusual read would be…not exactly an understatement because it’s undeniably original, even challenging; but it’s also exasperating! The beginning of the book confused me somewhat. It took me a while to realise that this part of the series isn’t about Kelli’s disastrous marriage, oh no, there is much more to this story than meets the eye.

Kelli is a sex therapist. After years of unsuccessfully trying to deal with her husband’s complacency regarding bedroom issues, she finally decides to do something about her sexual frustration. By joining a specialized online dating site for people in the same position as herself, maybe she’ll be lucky in finding the right man. You will see! A series of events roll into each other very subtly when she starts giving Jake, a debonair entrepreneur, sessions. I got the impression that the tables were turned and asked myself who is the therapist was here. She does ask questions; however, he answers them with a few incongruous strings attached. Unless she complies with his wishes, will she be able to carry on with their weekly appointments? Or perhaps he has other ideas for her? Listening to Jake’s complex life story unfold, only seems to accentuate her dilemma to the point of no return. Furthermore, he narrates his vivid sexcapades making her attraction for him grow stronger. Believe you me; how a subservient person becomes a DOM is described in explicit detail!

So why the taxi on the cover you may ask! Well, I have yet to put two and two together and come up with a solid answer. I do have my suspicions though. There is no doubt that Jake is going to transport us on a long journey full of highly sensual experiences.

At times I found the story a tad like a monologue, and he did tend to repeat a word or two unnecessarily. I found it difficult to comprehend how a sex therapist was so overwhelmed with her new purchase, too! These few discrepancies tore me between a star rating of 3.5 and 4. However, after much thought, I decided to rate it four stars. While Mr. Furie Lapin’s style of writing took me a little bit of getting used to, the editing is excellent. I would love to find out more about how Kelli and Jake’s relationship evolves. All in all, I really enjoyed reading this book.
