KFF received ARC for an honest review. I made the awful mistake of starting this book in the evening without realising that it was going to be one of those reads you just can’t put down. Consequently, I paid the price the next morning with a reader’s hangover! What a book and a half! I had no idea what to expect and was pleasantly surprized to see how this more than original plot evolved around the lives of not only the main protagonists, but also the not so secondary characters. Every one of them has an important part to play in this exceptional love story.
I really don’t want to “let on” since this is without a doubt, a must read and the last thing I want to do is spoil it for you. However, I will tell you a little about Marla and Gabriel. Gabe to his friends, is a hunk of an Irish man. He’s stunningly handsome, horrendously sensitive, and he has a sense of humour that’ll make your laugh your socks off! Marla is horrified when she finds out that the business he’s planning to open slap bang in front of her wedding chapel with a difference in a sleepy Shropshire village is going to be totally incompatible. And here’s where the show begins folks! Even though you can literally feel the attraction palpitate between them, these two gorgeous characters clash like the Titans and as neither of them are prepared to back down, you’ll have to take sides! Both are ignorant to the fact that the helping hands of Gabe’s devious secretary, Melanie, and a not so honest newspaper reporter, Robert, will complicate matters even more. Marla is at all times, surrounded by an array of friends and co-workers who won’t always make the right decisions either. They all have their issues which in turn, is woven into a complex web of misunderstandings.
This multi-love story offers a little bit of everything. The hot sexy scenes included won’t disappoint you. The banter between all the author’s characters had me in stitches and there were moments when I even had to resort to a full packet of tissues, too! It’s literally amazing how Ms French made her character’s personalities come alive and I salute you for such a well-written book. Simply bravo!
