The author kindly gave me the ARC for an honest review. She warned me to have an open mind. I did! This is probably one of the most erotic dark reads which didn’t shock me that much. This unusual story is absorbing from the first page and not easy to put down. I liked the fact that it’s a standalone immensely and it’s the kind of book I would take to the beach with me. It’s not too long or too short and even though it’s categorized as such, the sex scenes aren’t overwhelmingly suffocating like in many in dark reads.

I connected to Celeste straight away. Her boyfriend’s stance makes her realise that there’s much more to life than what she’s been used to. Because of circumstances, she makes a brave decision which is quite out of character. For someone so young and inexperienced, I thought her plan was a great one. Of course, things don’t work out as they should and here we have a plot that will have you biting your finger nails!

Leonide’s business is far from legit. When Celeste has a chance meeting with him in a hotel in Las Vegas, she thought her luck had changed. However, this seemly suave and debonair man has dastardly intentions for this attractive young woman. Not only would she ever be able to envisage the outcome of their rendezvous, but it would also change her very existence. Celeste doesn’t want to go back to being who she was before and even though he demands subservience, her strong character blossoms when she puts up a feisty fight throughout the story. The question is; will he concede and give her the choice she so desperately lusts after? The banter between the two protagonists is excellent, the very hot steamy moments are explicitly described and never let me down!

What amazed me about this book was the author’s capability of enthralling me with just two main characters. The secondary character does have an important part but he is mentioned more by name than in person.

Please excuse me but the one small thing that always niggles me are the Americanisms used in this type of book. Obviously this is a very personal opinion coming from a Brit but apart from that, this book is excellent. The grammar and spelling faultless, the plot original and I won’t be forgetting Leonide since he has become my new book boyfriend!  Bravo Ms. Flite!

This is the continuation of An Acute Attraction and I must say, I absolutely loved it.  I love Isabel and Marc. I was seriously crushing on Marc in book one, but I’m head over heals now. He’s just sexy as all hell!! And Isabel, she isn’t your typical whiny female.  She’s cute, funny and in my opinion, gorgeous. Who says gorgeous has to be a size 2?  Not me, and definitely not Marc.

I have to be honest, Emelie annoyed me no end and I’m definitely happy she got what was coming to her, but it happened so fast.  I wish her issues were explained a bit more.  I don’t want to give any spoilers, but let’s just say, she was a psycho and needed to be taken down a few notches… achieved wonderfully. Other than that, I thought the book was perfect, the ending sweet and the sex scenes juicy and sexy as hell. The grammar is excellent and the spelling is spot on. I still feel that it’s a bit formal, however after speaking with the author directly, I completely understand now how we live in two different countries and it really has nothing to do with formality, it’s just that she speaks from a British point of view and I, from an American one so it’s just different. Now that I understand that about the author, I completely get it, and the formality of how it is written makes more sense to me.

I highly recommend both An Acute Attraction and A Constant Attraction to all readers looking for something fresh, sweet, sexy and fun, because that’s what you get with these two fabulous characters.

I was thirty percent into this book when it dawned on me where the author wanted to take the reader! Should I have realised before? I don’t know! But one thing I do know is her main protagonist is a conniving and devious woman who you’re going to love to hate! These two strong sentiments rub shoulders as you delve further into a suspense-cum-love story with no limitations in one of the most unusual plots I’ve read this year. In fact, I’m still not sure if I can categorize this book! Erotica is certainly isn’t. Romance doesn’t exist, horror abounds and love, well—if you call a twisted relationship between two people that have always been there for each other, I suppose it is!

To understand how Nina aka Elizabeth’s mind works and her obsession for vengeance are the dramatic flashbacks. Forcefully estranged from her loving father, she is placed into a foster home where she’ll be physiologically and physically abused. The one thing that didn’t convince me was the zilch concern the child protective services had regarding her and Pike’s welfare. Here is where the author should have stated the reasons for such an abominable posture. The author’s crude description of the barbarities this minor had to endure by her foster parents enraged me to the point of tears. Throughout her young years, Nina’s ability to survive under such subhuman conditions are influenced by Pike who I might add, not only tries to ease her torment in ways that will horrify you, but doesn’t escape from their foster father’s degradation either. If he becomes the bad boy with a capital B in this story, Nina turns into a bitch in bold letters!

Without victims, no plot! An adorable husband who worships the ground Nina walks on is oblivious to her deceptive plan. A hotel owner sucked into a web of lies so intricately woven, is fooled to perfection! I loved both of them to bits in different ways and made me want to scream and shout aloud in frustration. Wait until the ending. Oh. My. God! To say I was utterly flabbergasted, would be an understatement. What a cliff-hanger and a half!

The author’s ability to scandalize, sadden and make your emotions run riot in one breath left me emotionally spent. She’ll take you on roller-coaster ride that never has a moment of relief. Unputdownable, dreadfully harsh and impeccably written. Regardless of my small discrepancy, I award five stars to Bang by Ms. Blair! BRAVO!

A sub-amazingly-lime read! One thing is knowing what you’re talking about. Another thing is being able to put one’s knowledge into words in a novel that not only flows to perfection, but also leaves you spell-bound and aghast in the same breath. What an eye-opener! I had a vague idea that a small number of religious sects are positively dangerous, but had absolutely no idea what these fanatics in the name of God are capable of.

This is without a doubt, one of the most difficult reviews I have written without letting on, so bear with me folks! I’ll try my hardest not to spoil it for you! Salome and her sisters were born in The Order. Their lives are unsustainable and inhuman! Mae, aka Salome’s story made me realise that whether or not members are born into certain Orders is inconsequential to the higher hierarchy’s doctrines. One obeys regardless! Keeping their members in ignorance is fundamental because according to them, the outside world is full of sinful temptations! The girls’ biggest sin is their beauty. They are victims of torture, rape and degradation which is explicitly described and made me feel more than uncomfortable.

Styx is the boss! Too young to be the “prez” of a bikers charter, too horrendously strong and tattooed with rippling muscles in all the right places gals! But this guy has a problem…or two! When he was on the verge of puberty, he stumbled upon a beautiful young girl. While trying to communicate with her, somehow his speech disorder is alleviated and she becomes his lifelong obsession. She’ll never forget the boy that tried to help her either. Now, the big question is…what will happen in the future? Is the traitor amidst this love story with a difference going to be the save the day?

The author’s secondary characters are marvellous! I could have strangled Rider with my own bear hands! I just loved Beauty who will give Mae worldly-wise advice and help her through thick and thin. Apart from the storyline which is fast-moving and absorbing, what really swayed me was how the author has managed to express her male characters’ speech perceptions. Mae’s language is beyond fitting under the circumstances, too! Quite brilliant, so realistic, and this book is extremely unputdownable! If you like twist and turns that abound in an aggressively complex read, this is for you! One thing that I’d like to mention before giving this author my ovation, are the sex scenes. Although they are one way or another relevant and well narrated, the importance of this surreal story are two people from totally different backgrounds

To the author; Ms. Cole! I am abso-friggin-lutley lost for words! BRAVO!

I am giving this review 4 stars because Amazon and Goodreads doesn’t allow half stars, otherwise I’d be giving it a 3.5. Though it is a good story and doesn’t deserve a 3, it needs some work for me to truly feel it is a 4 star.

This is the story of a young single mother of 2 boys, who loves her boys to pieces but needs some “me” time, so she booked a holiday at a nice hotel to just rest, relax and enjoy herself.  Isobel is British and she is on holiday in England, near her home, where she meets Marc, a very attractive Harvard professor, who takes an instant liking to Isobel, who is a beautiful but plus sized woman.  It was refreshing to have a lead female that wasn’t a whiny twit, and wasn’t pencil thin with big boobs all up in her face.  She was beautiful and still a bigger woman.

For me, the fact that she was British and he was American was a key factor because I couldn’t get past the fact that the way it was written. Isobel sounded more the American and Marc more the Brit. This may not have been noticeable to others, but it was absolutely noticeable to me. The story was also written very formally which took away from it for me. That isn’t how people speak naturally, so it sounded very forced. Other than those two issues, I found it to be a light, sweet very appealing story and I’m looking forward to book two to see how the rest plays out. I enjoyed both characters and how they were together, and how they found each other and fell so quickly. It flowed well. It wasn’t silly, ridiculous or drawn out. It still gave you a complete story and not a jump from one to the next and not really filling in the middle. And as always, the evil witch was just that, an evil witch and that was what it needed to be.

I would definitely recommend this story but I do think it needs to be less formal.

As it’s not possible to rate three and a half stars on Goodreads and Amazon, I have awarded Johnny Outlaw; real name, Jack Dalton and Holliday Hughes’ hot steamy love story four stars.

Jack Dalton and Holliday’s story starts off a little slow. It picks up when they cross paths in a hotel in Las Vegas where Holli is reluctantly taking part in a business conference. Her love life is in the doldrums and he’s a frigging flirt with a skirt. However, as soon as they set eyes on each other, magnetism palpitates and innuendos flow. Could either of them envisage the outcome of their scorching night together? Well, you will see what happens when you read their story with all its ups and downs, but lacking in twists and turns for my liking.

This book isn’t erotica. It’s sexy and believe me when I say that they’re at it in nearly every paragraph! If the storyline had had more backbone, something more to grab at, it would have been absolutely brilliant! I couldn’t possibly fault the banter between this horrendously sexy rock star and this up and coming independent woman. There is no doubt that you’ll laugh out aloud? One would expect their lifestyles and personalities to clash but the author has made these two diverse characters work to a tee. I loved Tracy too! Hollie’s best friend and secretary plays an important part and Danny! Ooohh Dani! Why Hollie’s hunk of a neighbour was left on the sidelines is a real shame!

I assumed that this novel was about the title. “The Resistance.” I got the impression that the author had tried to involve the rock band in this light-hearted read, but somehow it just didn’t seem to work for me. The impeccable grammar cannot be disputed and I am really looking forward to reading more from Ms Scott who has undisputed talent.

I must confess that this is the first book I have read by this author and I had no idea what to expect. Goodness gracious me! I was literally sucked into a whirlwind of emotions from the first page of the prologue! This beautifully written story is about life, death, undying love, and above all, complete and utter trust between three lifelong friends.

The protagonists’ tightly-knit relationship is put into perspective when we read flashbacks of Em’s memories throughout this incredibly heart-wrenching love story. Although they all have their own stories to tell, the crux of the matter is without a doubt, Andy. His battle against the clock, his wish to please the two people he loves while suffering such a dire illness, his compunction to live life to the best of his possibilities, is described by the author in minuscule detail. A warning here folks! Get your hankies ready because Andy, Em and Seth are going to rock your boat in an ocean of grief, a touch of happiness and yes, humour! Just to give you an idea of how absorbing this story is—mundane things like going to sleep were insignificant!

Since time is Andy’s enemy, he gives them a list of unfulfilled wishes which they’ll do their utmost to accomplish. Get ready for a laugh and a half here because some of the things he asks them to do are hilarious. They’ve stood by him through thick and thin since youngsters and it’s his way of saying how much he appreciates their undeniable love. The last wish was not exactly unexpected, but when it happened, it left me mentally distraught. It also made me reflect upon many who have left someone dear behind. Not only does that person want one to carry on living, but they also want to be remembered for the good times they have had with them. And boy oh boy, when you reach this point in the book, you think you know what’s coming! Far from it! Andy unselfishly has the last word which will bring a smile to your face, make you cry heaps of tears and make you want to read this book again!

Whether or not Em eventually accepts her destiny with open arms remains to be seen, and can Seth keep his promise to his best friend and override the deeply embedded guilt he’s carried on his shoulders since Andy fell ill? These two loveable and caring characters take the back-seat with admirable finesse because all said and done, this is Andy’s story. Perfectly narrated, faultlessly written and simply unputdownable!

Well! What can I say to you Ms Johnson? Your ability to hit home and your sensitivity regarding this horrendous illness is unquestionably commendable. You have managed to take me on a roller-coaster ride of unfathomable heights and I’m still coming down! I could write more about your marvellous characters but it would be totally unfair to the reader. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read such a touching story.

Simply bravisimo!
